The basic idea behind this thread is to post little ideas you come up with that you can't or don't want to use. If you want to use them in a rp and they're in here, go ahead, it's free for all.

Stargate themed! I'm not really sure how you'd go about it, but I would like to go about it.

Simple, don't do a sg1 rp, do like, sg5 or something like that.

Star Wars. Obviously. Old Republic if possible, but I be cool.

1066, Battle of Hastings. Maybe.

Vikings and Norse mythology. Yesssss. If someone doesn't want to do this, I so would. Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, etc. and their mythos could also be cool but they lack mead.

Underwater setting or sky-setting would be way cool.

BEES. Like we could be bees. And there are wasps and flowers and beekeepers and that in the RP.

I'd be in on a SW rp, but wouldn't want to run it.

Battle of Hastings might be interesting, but how would we work a story into it? Simple survival of some soldiers?

Dude, I'd be all over a Viking rp like a Viking all over mead. However, again, what would plot be? Ragnarok? Would we be the gods or just Vikings?

You know what? Sky setting would be kinda cool. However, all my thoughts tend to run towards Skylanders...

Bees. Well, would bee interesting, but I'm not sure it would generate a huge amount of buzz.

I can't think of a good SW storyline that doesn't link in some way to KOTOR. It's my main experience of SW, tbh. Talitha says "we" (?) are going to have a SW marathon some time for getting-up-to-speed-with-things in some way.

I was mainly choosing Battle of Hastings because Old English is freaking awesome and any chance to speak it (read: copypasta) and drink mead (yes they did). 1066 is basically the only interesting thing you can do about England before the French, as far as I'm currently aware. Probably my least likely idea on the list.

Viking would be mad. I was thinking we could be like BATTLE PRIESTS biggrin who each follow one of the Norse gods or whatever, and we are fighting against either the minions of Loki or some of the other traditional baddies. It will be an extremely bastardized version of Norse mythology and such, because ALL THAT MATTERS IS BEARDS AND HAMMERS AND MEAD trickling down our chins onto the aforementioned items.

Tell me about what you mean with the Spyro thing. I was envisioning being a race of people with wings (feathered or dragony) with a flying familiar of some kind, and we all live in really tall trees connected in a LOTR/Kashyyyk kind of way, and the plot is that the evil ground people are planning on cutting down the trees or something.

Bees. We could try it. Plot devices could include: Flowers/livelihood getting picked by AN ANNOYING LITTLE GIRL, the beekeeper being a cool guy sometimes but betraying us by spraying us with smoke and taking all our honey, wasps being a nuisance in general, pollinating the crap out of everything, and stinging things maybe and buzzing around. Just saiyan.

Okay, ima gunna jump on the Viking and sky rp ideas. The others might work, but I'm not braining right now.

I'd be all over the Viking one, but the only problem I foresee is that the only way most of the plots can end is Ragnarok.... Not that I'm saying this is a bad thing.

As for skylanders, if you don't know the plot, here it is. There are people called portal masters who control portals in time and space. They can summon creatures from far and wide to battle evil in the skylands. The skylands are a series of floating islands ranging in size from pebble to large enough to hold entire, large cities. Some islands are linked together and they're all held up with magic. Now, one evil guy called Kaos, yeah, I know, tacky name, but the guy who voices him is invader zim, so he's forgiven, comes along and destroys the source of good, pure magic so darkness and evil can reign. To fix the lack of light magic, the skylanders, a group of misfit creatures, see website for character listings, set out to retrieve eight eternal sources for the eight elements. Earth, air, fire, water, life, undeath, tech and magic. With the eternal sources, they rebuild the core of light and restore goodness and happiness to the skylands. *takes a breath* That's it, but I reckon something along the lines of the various islands could work. Some islands are linked by bridges, some are tied together, but unless some severe magic hits them, they just float gently along. Also, hot air balloon is the most popular mode of transport between the islands. THAT, I think, is cool.

Finally, I remember an idea that I picked up from a book once, which explains why we have myths of dragons and gods, which is that there are 'zones' in the universe, which are powered by various, let's call them beliefs. Currently Earth is sitting in a physics field. Previously however, the boundaries have shifted. Last time was during the dark ages, just before witch hunting became popular. Belief in gods gave some limited power and some fairy tale devices, like iron affecting fey, became true. Previous to THAT belief system was the fantasy/magic type, where dragons, fey, etc were active, but belief in gods was severely limited. When the barrier switched from magic to gods, the magic creatures lost their magic. Dragons died out and fey became hunted and unable to hide using magic.

Now, with all that aside, Earth goes through another shift, this one throwing it back into the realm of magic. All technology now does not work, ie, electricity. However, the average Joe can now use some kind of magic. Most of it is benign or limited to parlor tricks, but there are many who can do pretty much anything they feel like. Some of this group work to restore order while others work to take over the world and potentially throw the world into another dark age.

I've started reading book one of a series of apparently 20 *didn't know before I started or before I bought the first 2* that is set in the year 2065, 22 years after the great economic collapse that destroyed western civilization. It follows, so far, a character who saw the collapse coming and his son who is 14.

'The year is 2065, two decades after the great economic collapse that destroyed civilization. With it's power broken and it's cities ruined, life in the West continues in scattered communities. In rural Dorset, Jake Reed lives with his 14-year-ols son and memories of the great collapse. Back in '43' Jake was a rich, young futures broker, immersed in the fatwa ape of the world's financial markets. He saw what was coming - and who was behind it. Forewarned, he was one of the few to escape the fall

For 22 years Jake has lived in fear of the future, and finally it is coming - quite literally - across the plain towards him. Chinese airships are in the skies and a strange, glacial structure dominates the horizon. Under the rule of the mighty Tsao Ch'un, a resurgent China is seeking to abolish the past and bring about world peace through rigidly enforced order. But a civil war looms, and Jake will find himself at the heart of the struggle for the future.'

That blurb convinced me to pick up a 2 book pack and buy it before I realized it was such a long series.
