Harmony was trying her best not to think about space or senshi anymore. She was trying to be done with them all but somehow the senshi, the Negaverse, the weird bad senshi, kept finding her. Ignoring the problem and sticking her head in the sand wasn't making them go away. She struggled for normal but felt herself sinking further and further into this world just outside her own - into this war.
If she was old enough to drink she might have started by now.
She was wandering down the sidewalk going toward this neat vintage shop she knew of, feeling in the mood to splurge a little on herself when she spotted someone she recognized. It was vague but he was coming out of a building ahead of her. She raced forward trying to see if it was him though she didn't remember his name, only that he'd tried to help her when they were both in space.
"I remember you."
She wouldn't blame him if he didn't remember her. It was a brief encounter they'd had and he seemed rather sad at the time. She'd been distracted, too, by confusion and pain. That was a horrible place and she shuddered to remember how it felt to have her ribs on the outside.
"So you made it back, too."

Grant jumped as a voice met his ears. He looked at her in wonder, eyes wide. He smiled though, as he did remember her from the Surrounding, and his eyes lit up.
He liked meeting people he had seen there. He knew they were all back home somewhere, safe and sound, in his heart. But it was good to see them, and to know for a fact that they were living their lives again, as they should be.
They had all only been dead temporarily.
"I think we all did. I've seen a few people. I'm glad you're okay! You're looking much better now, then what I remember. I am very glad to see it! Your color is much better in this light than in space, you have nice skin!"
Grant had a habit of spitting out whatever compliment was in his head at the time, and there he was, his mouth open and running and he couldn't stop the words. Not that he had any inclination that he should. He smiled brightly, then held out the bag he had with him. He had just left a bakery.
"Tiny donut?"

"You've seen more people than I have."
Not that Harmony had looked very much or tried to be very popular while in space. She mostly stuck to her bed to rest and talked to Camelot. But there were a few people she'd spoken to while she was there and she hadn't seen them since but trying to find them was a little like trying to spot a needle in a haystack. Destiny City was rather big and she was only one person. The fact that she'd bumped into Grant months after the incident was sort of amazing.
"No, thanks. I'm not much of one for donuts."
Or any baked goods really. She usually found them far too sweet and preferred a balance of flavors in her food. This tended to make her somewhat picky in her choices. He was older than her, she remembered. He'd only spent a brief amount of time around her in space but she remembered him well because he'd tried to help her and was kind of, well, weepy. And polite. Even to the monsters. Strange guy.
"What have you been doing with yourself?"

"Going to school, mostly. I lost my job after we all came back, but that's alright. The new young man they hired there is very nice." He wasn't. He was an awful little turd of a high school student that was only there to get some money for video games and because his parents made him.
But Grant saw good in everyone.
He refrained from eating his donuts because she said she didn't like them, and he didn't want to eat them and make her feel sick or something. He could wait for them, anyway: he hadn't intended on eating them all during his walk. Either way, they would have gotten back to his place.
One detail he didn't share about his life since coming back was becoming a dark senshi. He had been ordered never to tell anyone, and that was just what he would do. He always, always, did what he was told.
"How about you? Have you been well since coming back?" He hoped she had, as Space hadn't been nice to her. Well, to any of them, since they had all been killed. Details.

Grant seemed very much the same as he had been in space, polite and without a negative thing to say about anything. That was reassuring, anyway, that the experience hadn't changed everyone for the worse. She was starting to sleep again after being attacked by Chaos...again. She shuddered to think of it, though she hadn't meant to, and tried smiling at Grant to cover it up. If she'd known he was the same as Lesath she might have fainted.
"I got my old job back, thank God, but I had to switch schools. It sucks. I liked Crystal."
But no amount of negotiating on her mom's part had allowed her re-admittance until next new school year. She was fine with that as long as she could finish her high school career in the school she loved. As much as being in a co-ed environment thrilled her the uniforms did nothing for her figure and she liked the lack of pressure surrounding being in a girls only school. She'd done better there. Besides, it was closer to home and work, not to mention her job at the library as Tony's assistant.
But that was all the good she had to say about being back. Her life had only become more complicated, more damaged. She'd suffered for it for months. But still she smiled, trying to be normal in the face of all these changes. He was a nice guy and she didn't feel like burdening him with her problems because probably he'd feel obligated to help.
"What are you studying?" she asked, moving down the sidewalk with him just to keep moving. "You look happy"

"Oh, that's good about your job! I'm sure changing schools is for the best, too. It broadens your educational range! New teachers, new things to teach you. I like the new campus, it's fun to explore."
He smiled brightly, nodding his head and meaning what he said. He wasn't the kind of guy to just say something for the sake of it: he liked to be reassuring and optimistic, but never false.
He beamed his warm smile at her and nodded his head.
"I am happy," he said, walking with her, "though I'm mostly doing general education stuff at the moment, to catch up. But! I really like my classes, and just learning in general. If I could be a student forever that would be nice! I would like to get a good job, though, so I can get my girlfriend nice things."
And pay his bills and live his own life, of course.
"What have you been up to? I hope everything is going well! Where do you work? Do you like it?" He sometimes sounded like he was reciting a letter he had written for everyone. As they reached a crosswalk he pressed the button, then hesitated. Even if he never showed it, he still had some hang ups about space. He had been taken while helping an old lady across the street, and he remembered it every time he reached a corner.

"I miss Crystal but mom said I have to wait to transfer back next school year." Which was, essentially, what the office admins told her mother. At least she could go back, this exile wasn't forever.
While the new campus was beautiful and spacious and she did enjoy the scientific aspect of her education she missed the uniforms and camaraderie of Crystal. She often wondered if she dressed Alex in the uniform if he could come with her to school and really make her day. He wasn't actually that kind of gay, just girly, but it would have been nice to have him with her at school.
"Wow! You have a girlfriend? That's awesome!"
Of course that made her feel particularly single and behind the curve. If others from Space could be that well adjusted why couldn't she? What was holding her back? She didn't know but meant to find out one of these days. She didn't really need a boy in her life complicating it. Nathan would probably do enough of that on his own as she tried to incorporate him into the family.
"I work at a coffee shop called Espresso Yourself. We're kind of an artistic place downtown. You should come by sometime. Our espresso is imported from Italy and I make pretty killer drinks."
If there was one thing Harm was particularly proud of, it was her job and her place in it. She wanted to buy it from the owner someday or open her own coffeehouse/bakery.

Grant nodded his head. He could understand that reasoning. She needed to finish catching up with her schooling before she could go back for a proper year, right? And not be behind, or anything like that. A fresh start. Grant was very much a fan of those, he felt everyone needed a chance to do something new and start from the top, where things were nice and fun and new.
It was funny that calling Grant well adjusted was now a bit of a stretch. By his behavior, his thoughts, and his outer appearances he was very much at peace. Always happy, always optimistic, with an understanding of himself and the world around him that helped him move through it without any stress or worries.
But he had a very complicated personal life, to say the least.
After dying in space, he lost track of the young woman he had bonded with, then found her again but she had a new identity and he hadn't known it. Then he became a member of the dark senshi and he learned everything he hadn't known. And here he was now, an agent of chaos that believed in goodness and happiness.
"That sounds really nice! I'll have to find it. I really like the name," he smiled and laughed, nodding his head, "I bet you are really good at it, too! I'd love to try something you make. Can you do those little designs in the cream?"

"Not alot, no." she admitted.
She was artistic but not that much. She just liked matching flavors and talking to people and taking pictures when she could. This job allowed her to do that so she was content in it, making money and having fun in that very Harmony way of doing practically anything. If it suited her ends she'd do the work, she just happened to enjoy working here. It was a nice change of pace from school and, hey, free drinks.
"It buys my camera equipment and film, anyway. I can't complain."
Of course, with the way things were going the girl imagined she should be happy for a simple, uncomplicated life filled with work and school and not much else for distraction but all the same she felt a little pang and wished for someone to hang out with at the very least that wasn't a total jerk. Hang out here meaning romantically.
She smiled brightly as a cover, banishing any sad thoughts.
"Anyway, you should come into the shop sometime. I bet you'd like it there."

"I bet I will! I will stop by the next time I'm in need of coffee!" And he wasn't lying about that: he would go out of his way if he had to now that he had made his promise. His word was as good as any promise or signed treaty.
"Where are you heading now? Can I walk you there?"
As any gentleman would offer, Grant liked accompanying people when they were alone. He didn't like the idea of them being lonely, or even getting into trouble by being on their own. Maybe he was old fashioned, because he did think ladies should be escorted if they were alone. What was wrong with a nice boy walking a lady home?
Nothing, in his mind. To others, though, it might be a little creepy, or even come off as a ploy of some kind. Not that Grant really knew how to be devious or plot anything.
Innocent was his middle name.

"Sure. I'd like that."
She smiled at his offer to walk her to where she was going. He was such a sweet guy that she just couldn't help but trust him. She wouldn't ever have pegged him for one of the bad guys in her wildest dreams. Innocent was indeed his middle name. Maybe literally.
She was heading to work at the library. Tony Darrow had probably come to regret his forced acceptance of her help a million times by now, she was sure, but she did her best to try and keep everything in tip top shape for him. It was nice to be able to count on that and on him. He didn't mind slim hours or her often inconvenient take charge attitude. He honestly didn't need that much help. He was fairly hands on but she'd needed it.
"I'm heading to the library? Are you familiar?"
She slid her hand through his arm and walked side by side with him, happy for the company and to find he was alright.

Grant Innocent Caudwell smiled brightly.
He liked being able to keep people company, but more than that he just liked being useful to others. And this surely counted as that. Even simple gestures were still ones of kindness, and they still counted. Some people forgot about the little things, but Grant tried not to. He valued those moments of surprise and happiness that came with holding a door open for someone, or letting someone else have the right of way, or showing some kind of patience or generosity in the small scale.
Though, the large scale was important to him, too.
"I'm been once or twice," he said, nodding his head. He did his homework, after all, and sometimes liked visiting the library just for the quiet. And there was sometimes a cute dog there. He smiled as she walked with him, escorting her with purpose and pleasure.
"Do you spend a lot of time at the library?"

"Just on days I work, really, and even then I'm usually behind the counter at Tony's desk."
She didn't go in very often on her own unless she needed something and the HITS library was actually pretty extensive for her school work so she didn't often need to check anything out of the library. She was horrible at turning books in on time. Just something about it, even when she told herself she wouldn't or tried hard not to, couldn't be avoided. At least at the school library she didn't have to pay for it unless she didn't turn them in at all and that never happened.
She cross the street with Grant to the park leading to the library building. She spent a lot of time here, too, but those memories weren't as good anymore. She shivered.
"It's been good for me and looks good on college applications." Not to mention scholarship applications, too, since her mom didn't have a huge college fund for her to work from. Harm thought she'd pursue some art oriented scholarships to make it happen.

Grant nodded his head as he listened, eyes wide and reflecting his interest. He always listened to every story with the same kind of rapt attention he was giving her. He smiled at her, chuckling and nodding his head.
He was very glad to see she was happy and getting on with her life. What they had endured was so difficult, but they were all pulling together the pieces of their life and making something new. Something better, he hoped.
or at least enough to keep them happy.
"That's true! I'm sure you'll do just fine. You seem like a very determined and capable young woman, so college should be a breeze for you!" He smiled brightly, meaning it. He found college to be a little difficult, sometimes, but he certainly tried his hardest. He wasn't the most naturally gifted of students, however, and he had to work for his median grades as hard as he could.
He walked with her politely, accompanying her as long as she wanted an escort.

"You're sweet to say so."
She certainly hoped that was true. It would be nice for something like college to be a breeze. She wasn't the world's most diligent student but having a teacher for a mother helped. She'd never been allowed so slack off much as a child because of that. It helped her build good habits as she grew and now she got good grades without having to try too much. College would be what he said or would be a huge shock. Only time would tell with that.
The library loomed ahead of them as they broke through the park trees. She was happy to see it and happy still for the coincidence of meeting Grant again. Had she been upset before she spotted him? She couldn't remember. He was sweet enough that most other things faded away. She pulled them both up short as they crossed the street to the sidewalk on the other side. On impulse Harm reached up to hug him and kiss his cheek.
"I'm glad you're ok, Grant. Come see me at the coffee house sometime."
