Uniforms/Colors: Full suit of Legion Armor for all ranks below Legionnaire. Legionnaire wears Imperial Horseman Helmet. Centurion through Tribune wears full suit of Imperial Watch armor. Legate wears Imperial Palace Cuirass. All uniforms are given upon reaching the appropriate rank and must be worn during public formalities (Legion assemblies and meetings, guard duty, etc.), but an individual's own armor of choice can be worn to battle and on missions or assignments.

Territory: Headquarters is in the Imperial City Palace, but the Legion reigns over all of Cyrodil, and even outside of it.

Rules:

Permission to Join and Associate with the Imperial Legion:
1. No criminal record of any sort is permitted in the Legion except under special circumstances. Officials of a high enough rank can deem a certain individual with a criminal record reformed and fit to serve in the Legion. The rank necessary varies based on the severity of the individual's recorded crimes. Absolutely no existing fines or bounties are permitted, and any members of the Legion caught committing a crime will be expelled on the spot.
2. A member of the Imperial Legion must always obey the orders of a superior officer. Officer ranks begin at Centurion: Legionnaires have no authority over Auxiliaries, Troopers, or Recruits; Auxiliaries have no authority over Troopers or Recruits; Troopers have no authority over Recruits. If an officer gives an unlawful order, he or she should be reported by any witnesses so that he or she can be tried accordingly. Every member of the Imperial Legion, including the General, is required to obey all orders from the Emperor, even if they go against Imperial Law. Failure to obey orders will result in suspension from the Legion as a minimum punishment.
3. Acts of treason are the most serious accusations against any member of the Imperial Legion. Acts of treason include conspiracy against the Empire, Emperor, or any officer thereof; revealing classified information to officials outside the Empire; malicious violence against any fellow members of the Imperial Legion; abuse or misuse of powers so as to bring harm to the Empire or its people; and any other criminal act deemed serious enough to threaten the Empire's stability. Any accusations of treason are met with a long, thorough trial. If the accused is found guilty of treason, the punishment is execution, no questions or exceptions.

Regarding Active Duty:
Members of the Imperial Legion are either on or off active duty. Any members currently serving in assignments from the Imperial Legion are on active duty. Members who are not currently on any assignments are off duty. Any off-duty legionnaires who are called for by Imperial Officers are required to answer their call either with service, thus returning to active duty, or with a legitimate reason for pardon from service. Failure to respond to a call will result in suspension as a minimum punishment, and may qualify as an act of treason. Off-duty legionnaires are expected to uphold the same Code of Conduct as if they were on active duty, but are otherwise free to do as they please. We encourage off-duty officers to look for work in the Fighter's or Mage's Guilds, so that they may continue to do a service to Cyrodil and keep their combat skills sharp for when they may be called back to service.

Clarification of Titles:
A legionnaire is any member of the Imperial Legion, while a Legionnaire is a member of the Imperial Legion between the ranks of Auxiliary and Centurion. Legionnaires make up the bulk of the Legion's fighting force, which is why the entirety of the Legion's members are referred to by the same name, even though not all legionnaires are of the Legionnaire rank.
All legionnaires can be commonly referred to as Imperial Soldiers. Legionnaires with recognized talent in Destruction, Conjuration, Alteration, Illusion, or Mysticism schools of magic are referred to as Imperial Battlemages, and may be specifically referred to as Imperial Destructors, Conjurers, Alterers, Illusionists, or Mystics, respectively. In addition, any legionnaire with recognized talent in the Restoration school of magic can be referred to as an Imperial Healer.

Code of Conduct:
All legionnaires are expected to show respect to all fellow members of the Imperial Legion and all faithful citizens of the Empire. Imperial legionnaires should not steal from, harass, make shrewd comments about, speak aggressively towards, or otherwise act disrespectfully towards loyal soldier or citizen of the Empire. The Code of Conduct is largely a formality to keep the Empire's name good and proud, and so individual offenses are usually met with little punishment besides scolding. Repeat offenses or single offenses of particular severity, though, may result in suspension, demotion, or expulsion from the Imperial Legion.

Origins: The Imperial Legion sprang from the hardy stock of Colovia, the rugged highlanders with their Nordic blood. Complemented by the battlemages and sophistication of Nibenay, and inspired by the methods and equipment of the Akaviri, the Legion became a potent force in continental affairs during the reign of Reman I. Since the conquest of Tamriel, the Legion in the provinces has become a very cosmopolitan organization, made up of both homogeneous occupying units and unique auxiliary arms that employ local irregulars as agents. The Third Empire was established by Tiber Septim in 2E 854 after the chaos of the Interregnum. It lasted throughout the whole of the Third Era and was only ended after the last member of the Septim Dynasty, Martin, sacrificed himself to end the Oblivion crisis of 3E 433.
