Molly Seawolf, ex-pirate.
Born to a large family on the coast, Molly was born Molly Kay Jones. She was never enchanted with the idea of growing up to be some merchant's wife. She ran away at the age of 15 and dressed up like a boy, joined a whaling ship for a 6-month long expedition. When that was done, she bounced around between trading ships and hunting ships until the age of 19, when her ship was attacked by pirates. These pirates took many of the younger sailors prisoner, including Molly.
She spent a couple of months as a slave to the pirates, but proved her worth, and by the age of 21 she had risen in rank from slave to pirate. She was part of a mutiny that claimed the captain's life, and by 22 she was the first mate of her ship, The Sweet Daughter. It was then that she took on the name Seawolf.
She took a musketball to the shoulder during an attempted mutiny, and the ship's medic found out about her gender while she was passed out. She was promptly marooned.
Molly spent months fending for herself and finally flagged down a ship of soldiers, who threw her into the brig and transferred her to a prison once back on the mainland. She did a year's worth of time for having associated with pirates, then was released.
She now spends her time taking crummy little jobs like cooking and cleaning. The money from these jobs is used for sulking in taverns and thinking up hair-brained schemes on how to get The Sweet Daughter back, but she has never acted on any of them. What's the point? She's a woman, and she'll never get the respect she desires. At least the bottom of her mug doesn't think unkindly of her.
