From the point of view of those who had known Lovelee as a young mare knew full well that she had changed quite a bit since becoming a mother. She had been a colorful spitfire who had no qualms whatsoever about using her sharp tongue against those who deserved it. Her daughter had since grown into a beautiful young mare and had recently had two beautiful daughters of her own. Lovelee mostly stayed with the herd, and like her friend Bella, had become something of a " herd mom" though she was more the sturdy protective sort than sweet ol gramma.
But to Lovelee, life certainly wasn't short and she was still young enough and could run with the best of the guys. She had come to this small mismatched herd as a young rebel but she grew to love the peace here, but something was missing from her life. There was no adventure, no seeking of new things, it was like a gaping hole in her self, she gave her all in everything, making sure everyone she cared for was ok, but had no time for herself. She had visited her daughter and her new granddaughters this day, and was on her way back to the valley when she stopped for a drink from the stream which rolled through the area. There was peace, but Lovelee did not want peace, she wanted something more...if only she knew specifically what.
She shook her short mane and looked across the long grass, now a golden brown color, the green fleeing before the bite of winter. It was a fine sight at the end of a relatively warm afternoon. She clopped through the grass, stamping her own trail through the long vegitation, headed in no particular direction.

Hooves clipped the ground in silence as the grown stallion made his way across the meadows, the mountains now a hazed memory in the distance. Go figure, a travel hardly seemed long when one didn't put all their focus into the trail. Truth be told, it was only by familiarity of the lands that allowed Manjii's thoughts to wander as his legs took control of the routes. Whether it was brown, green, or barren, he knew this piece of land like the carved runes on his bangles. All thanks to a childhood full of endless walking and strict observation training.
Heh, how ironic that those teachings be of use to him here, in the stillness of an otherwise empty meadow. But after his latest experience of neglecting his instincts and teachings, Manjii was not going to easily ignore their whispers now. The Soquili halted in his march and pressed his ears skyward, his eyes turned forward and alert for the moment. It was not so much a sight as it was a...scent that stopped him. Many scents, if truth be told.
Snorting through his nostrils, he slowly scanned the horizon while remaining still. There was the strong signal or a herd nearby, and upon closer inspection he could just glimpse worn paths crisscrossing in the tall grass. Muted concern glazed across his face and his brow furrowed. Was he trespassing on one's territory?
Giving his tail a needless shake, he gave a soft sigh while turning his path at a a steady trot. Even with these lands remaining the same, ever so much could change on them. And he dare not stand around idle in case it proved threatening to any nearby herd members.

Lovelee stopped and turned to look over her shoulder, her ears pricked to catch any sound. " I could have sworn i heard something..." she muttered to herself, turning on her hooves in the general direction she lifted her nose and took a strong whiff of the chill air. Someone else was here...someone she didn't recognize by sound or scent. She took a minute to logic herself out of immediately finding this stranger and questioning why they were wandering her herd land. This one didn't have the musty stench of a walker, nor the acrid scent that usually hung around Kalona. She would still investigate, this was the very border of her tiny herdland, but it was a border none the less, and folks did wander by from time to time...not often though. So naturally, she was curious.
She galloped over a small hill and stood at the top, overlooking the golden meadow, peering around she spotted him rather easily, and it was obviously a him. A large purple and orange stallion stood out in the place like an orange would in a bushel of apples, though she knew that feeling of course, she wasn't exactly blending in herself. She had revealed herself to him anyway, so there was no sense being sneaky about finding out who this strange stallion was, she simply clopped down the hill and headed straight for him. It had been quite a while since anyone had come to the area, she figured she might as well see what this colorful guy was doing here.

Eyes shifted up, like a cloud passing over a clear sky as realization dawned on him. There was another Soquili on the horizon. How long had they, or was it just a she, been standing there? Manjii stood calmly while analyzing the situation. Moreso just to see how many others of the herd were in this location. His left ear pivoted back, and he glanced to his side with only soft curiosity expressed on his face. Either this herd was very well at hiding in the tall and blending grass, or there truly was only one individual before him.
But before the stallion could feel safe on the situation, the other Soquili in question began trotting forward with purpose. Her gait seemed friendly enough, with no quick tension in her steps to warn of a charge. All the same, Manjii continued his leisurely stroll without a pause. No need to stand about awkwardly, and besides his footfalls clearly indicated that he was making to leave the territory.
However her steps grew louder as her shape cut through the grass, and the stallion was forced out of moral to show consideration. She was just off to his left, and he titled his head toward her with a slight nod. "Heh, no need to rush, messenger. I've no intention of staying here long."
Unless she herself was also a rogue wanderer? Although her scent declared otherwise.

" Oy! hold on a sec!" she called out to the stranger, picking up her pace to a brisk trot. Normally she would have been more reserved with strangers but this one was familiar somehow, no not HIM specifically, but how he looked. She couldn't quite put a hoof on it but she figured it would come to her eventually. She caught up to him just as he turned to speak, she smirked crookedly at the stranger " I wasn't really coming to drive you away" she answered plainly " This is the very border of a tiny herd i belong to, we dont mind folks passin through, as long as you're not a walker or a 'lona." She flicked her tail behind her " And you dont like trouble." she chuckled and looked him over, though not rudely. " We dont actually see many others here, oddly enough." She noticed the scars over one of his eyes but did not mention it, and instead piped up " Where is it that you are headed?" Immediately after the question left her mouth she paused and sighed. "Ah!" she shook her head " of course, i appologize, i'm so used to casual conversation i forgot to introduce myself. My name's Lovelee"

Now what was this?
Pausing in his stride, the male turned over a curious glance as the other Soquili kept coming. There was no aggression in her voice or her movement, so it only surprised Manjii further as he waited up on her. Not as if he had a schedule or anything of urgency to attend to in the meantime. It was just another wintery, traveling day for the stallion as always.
"Haha, coulda fooled me with how swiftly you crossed the field to catch me." He sent a neighborly smile down at her before clicking his tongue in thought. "Ah, so this is a herd's territory. Good thing I nay look like a predator then!" Or even troublesome, apparently. Although that came as a surprise, since he figured his mangy hair, random scrapes, and heavy bulk would tell otherwise. "Pardon me for breaking that silence then. I hadn't realized these lands became a home for others while I was away." Sure creatures came and went as far as different lands and territories go, but he just hadn't been expecting a whole group of them to be lingering in one spot. Oh well, just another surprise of traveling.
"Hm, oh me?" He tossed his head to the left, orange and blue fringe brushing his brow as he did so. "My own family tends to stay near the east-most woodlands. That's my destination." Then he laughed at her hiccup of manners, while he shook his head. "No worries, I assure you. It's a...," well he couldn't say lovely, "soft name to have. It suits you. And you may call me Jumanjii."

She chuckled at the stallions amiable nature, it was so nice to see a traveler with manners. " Oh, i guess i just don't have the patience for slow walking, if i want to know something, no time for wastin you know?" She smirked " Good thing you're not! i give predators a good walloping! But since you're obviously not a predator you'll be just fine, stranger." She laughed good-naturedly, It felt good having a friendly conversation with someone, rarely did she venture out of her herd land for company, but chatting with the girls or trying to awkwardly converse with the spooky stallions that made up the other half of her ragamuffin herd got old after a while.
" Oh, you knew the place when we weren't here huh? you must have traveled far to miss when we first came then!" she flicked an ear in thought " you sure do remind me of someone i met long ago, they had the same sort of coloring you do~ and those big ol tusks." She wrinkled her brow trying to recall " Ahhh but they didn't stay all that long" She shrugged. " Ah, family~" She nodded " a good reason for traveling for sure. I haven't seen my own in quite some time, though i take care of my bit here." She smirked, soft? well that was quite a nice thing to say, her dad had named her, whereas her mother, who had always been a bit on the avian side (at least in her mind) had named her other two siblings. Out of a bunch of birds, she was Lovelee.
" Jumanjii?" she repeated " what a curious name, and very nice as well!" She silently wondered which origin a name like Jumanjii came from. " Say, isn't it quite a ways still to those woodlands? you must be a traveler born~"

"Humn, I suppose so." The stallion mused over the statement with almost tired reflection. The last time he had been inpatient for something it had cost him a nasty wound. Since then, he learned how to relax on the journey of discovery...even if it was a tad bit more boring. Oh well, live and learn for another day. Ears slid back as Manjii gave a cheeky grin to the other. "Yikes, well sounds like we both be in luck. Don't want to be having any avoidable bruises if I must be honest."
With a simple glance side-to-side, the stallion determined if this was indeed the location that he assumed it to be. Just so he didn't sound like a wandering fool if it turned out to be a completely different land. "I...believe this is the spot. Most certainly, just by the slopes and hills I've already crossed. Although it has been quite some time." Go figure, he never did realize that in all his time traveling he had not once retraced his laid paths. But then his eyes lit up as the mare mentioned seeing his traits before. "Really now? Was it a fellow or a mare that you remember meeting? How long ago?" Just hearing a hint of his family made his pulse unexpectedly flare up, making him finally admit how much he did miss meeting his kin.
"Wait, the herd among you is not your family? Now how did that happen?" It was an honest and kind question, and he hardly realized how blunt it might have sounded. Then he nearly deflated in one breath as he was reminded just how far he still had to walk. "Aye, there are still a few more sunrises to endure on this trip. And I wouldn't say born that way....more of just a forced habit since I was young."

Lovelee chuckled at his reaction " Oh m'sure~ bruises are certainly a pain when you're travelin!" She chewed thoughtfully on a early daisy, looking at the large stallion, he certainly was impressive, she hadn't seen many of his like before. " Why yes" she replied, amused with how happy he seemed, so happy to hear of family~ it made her miss her own. " A little while back, a few weeks perhaps ~ I went traveling to see my daughter and met one with wild reddish hair and impressive tusks." She flicked an ear in thought " i only met her fleetingly but she seemed like a sweet determined young mare." She smiled at him "
She blinked at him owlishly but soon recovered " Ahhh~ well really when i was younger i was far more wild and reckless, while i cared very much for my family, i wanted to strike out on my own, ya know?" She sighed a bit, a line appearing between her brows " I found a friend when i needed one most, in the middle of nowhere it seemed really, But i joined the small group she had made of folks similar to myself, far from their homes and well...odd in some cases." She pulled a rather odd face, thinking of the OTHER half of her small herd, the stallions who seemed more foals nightmares than real. But they were nice enough. " So i settled there and helped em out" she smirked. " Sunrises!?" she exclaimed " good grief, you're taking time to rest those hooves of yours aren't you?" she raised an eyebrow, taking stance her daughter used to call the "mommy bird" " Forced habit?" she questioned, she'd never heard of a forced one...traveling wasn't all that bad, but forced anything didn't ever sound good to Lovelee~

"You can say that twice." It was enough to make the stallion wink at a memory of such past pains and present bruises. Then he tilted his chin in thought, as if trying to calculate the distance his realtive could have gone in that given amount of time. Could he catch up to her? "Red hair, eh? Could be either my delightfully rambunctious grandmother, or my equally hyper sister." The male sighed, as if the topic of the two lasses was enough to tire him out. He was still young, but spirits did their energy make his bones feel old.
Jumanjii' nodded in agreement though with Lovelee, completely understanding the need to branch out and grow. It was only natural, in most cases. "So you joined a herd of mis-matches? But with a friend there beside you, it must not have been too drastic or overwhelming." Although he almost bit back his words at the mare's swift expression, something he just barely could read. "Hm, and so you remained there, bein a caretaker of sorts. A stable lifestyle that anyone can admire."
Flicking his tail, he regarded the other with a half grin and raised brow. "My hooves tell me well enough when they need a break. Nothing to fret of there. As to the habit, it was because I was lost at a young age. So my only option was to travel, or risk becoming coyote meat. My mentor made sure of that."

She smiled saucily " oh yeah, i know some strong willed mares myself, but those troll girls are certainly something, i like that" she chuckled, finishing another daisy. " Yeah, i had traveled for a long time by myself, being a young fiery thing with a chip on my shoulder. But after a while i got, well...burnt out, and then i had my daughters and decided it would be a good idea to settle somewhere." She shrugged " Stayin with folks i could help seemed like a better idea than bein out by my lonesome raisin kids. So i suppose caretaker works" She chuckled.
"Your hooves tell you ey? Oof, i must be getting old myself" she laughed " When i'm travelin to see my youngest my whole body protests sometimes! The hooves are just the start of it" She tilted her head, her eyebrow raising " Lost? oh, that's terrible...someone found ya though, right? This mentor?" Normally she wasn't so curious but with the present company, travelers always had stories to tell. And he seemed like a fine fellow to hang around and share tales with.

The stallion gave a lop-sided grin, almost bashful that his own baby sister was considered as one of those 'wild and strong' Troll mares. It was nothing to be ashamed of, being such a recognized energy....but maybe it was his own brotherly defense towards his sister that made him so tense all the time. Sometimes her 'energy' could be overpowering, and it was those moments that made him most fretful on how recklessly she could charge into situations.
Giving a sigh to shake off his wandering worries, Manjii flitted a brow at Lovelee's story. "Ah, so ye a mother? That's plenty excuse to feel exhaausted and tired of travel. Though I must say you don't look at all fatigued now. Have they long grown up, already?" It was no wonder now that she was a caretaker for others, since she had firsthand experience to guide her. A small laugh later, and Manjii was nodding his head at her exclamation. "What can I say, I have restless leg syndrome?" n_n Although he didn't feel like openly admitting his own body's aches and pains just yet. "Aye, another stallion found me in the cover of winter. So for the sake of survival, I stayed in his company for some months." He shrugged at the memory, still not at all sure if he was bitter or grateful for those turn of events.

Lovelee laughed warmly " aye, happened when I was still a young bit, fiery and too silly to know better. But tired, ah, that happens, chasing around kids that can just camouflage into the greenery! What crazy times those were" She chuckled " Yep, both as beautiful as anything you ever did see." She said proudly, the smile sparkling in her purple eyes " i've even got some gorgeous grandbabies, pshaw, and i'm not old at all!" She winked at him playfully " Ah, but I don't have a man to myself, came n went ya see." She shrugged it off, completely blasé about the whole business.
" Wah, well I guess that just makes for good exercises n sight seeing ey?" She raised an eyebrow " Well hey, you ever find yourself in a pinch nearby for shelter n food, we've got a good place and friendly folk" She smiled " good company is easy to find when ya know where you're lookin~ that stallion was sure nice" She shrugged " But o'course when you're out on your own you don't know where to look and ya get lost n all, like I did." She wrinkled her nose " Tough stuff, nature."

Manjii let a crooked grin etch his face as he listened in on Lovelee recounting on days long gone. It was always interesting, to see how speaking of family could make one's face soften or flare...depending on the turn of the story, of course. And it was obvious that the mare was fond of her past, even if it was silly to begin with. Then he laughed with a short shake of his head. "Oh yeah? Me' mother is the same way now due to my sister, surprising us with more foals than we could hope for." Seems she had better luck in that department than the rest of her siblings. Manjii and his own brother were wtill waging who would become a parent first, and it seemed to be a stubborn competition. Ears flicked back and the male shook his head. "A sad turn of events then, when the other parent is away. But an all too often occurrence."
Giving a peek over the endless meadows, Manjii couldn't help but nod in agreement. "Aye, and there sure is alot to see. The hills certainly make for plenty of exercise! And thanks for the offer." It was always nice to know where the kinder herds were located, either for himself or for helping others in need. "Haha, sorry I can't offer you the same advice, since I'm too often wandering to be found in specific locations." He blinked at her remark of a stallion, but left the subject alone. It wasn't for him to snoop, after all. "That it is, both nature and the individuals who live in it, for that matter."

She nodded her head, smiling at the silly sibling competition. " I never had any sort o thing like that, I left my folks as soon as I could, nowadays I do regret it. But my brother n sister haven't given me any nieces and nephews to worry about yet!" She chuckled " I suppose I surprised the lot of them when I was the first one to become a mom. Bein the spit fire of the bunch n all" She laughed merrily " I really must go visit my siblings one of these days."
She followed his gaze along the meadows, smiling at the illusion of patchy carpets of wild flowers blooming everywhere. Her new home was a very beautiful place, though she was certain there was beauty to be found everywhere, this was as good a place as any. Warm sun, sweet grass and friendly neighbors...for the most part. " Ah well, if ya travel you just have to be smart about it. Same with dealin with ol mother nature herself"
She peered at his hair, only noticing for the first time that it was styled in a particularly interesting way, the mare she had met had had the same sort of thing going on with hers. " Is that hairstyle a family thing?" She questioned " it's very interesting, how did you manage to do that?"
