Vaith was walking through campus-- there was just this renewed sense, you know? He would blame it on the burning experience that forced him to Nurse Cricket's office. Knowing Vaith's luck, he wouldn't be too surprised if he ended up back again in that office in less than a week.
Probably, he shook hsi head. Vaith was pathetic. But he guessed that most boils around this age probably were. Better to put the blame with him and the rest of Amityville rather than just himself. That logic seemed to replace the cheer in Vaith, whistling as he walked along the roads that led to various dorms. His familiar, Note, was taking a nap in the fur lining of his neck, the knob sighing, reflecting the fact that ever since moving up a year, Note's naptimes had moved up too.
Was that significant?
Was the pink-haired ghoul on the dorm walkway significant too?

Could she get into the dorm, if she scaled that little wall-bit over there and just-- hmm.
Amarus had her hands on her hips, her feet planted firmly an inch or two above the ground. From head to knees she was totally tangible, but from that point on her body started to fade. Proof she was a ghost, and only a first year, at that. When she was second year, she would probably strive to remain wholly tangible. She was planning her latest forray into a dorm where she was not wholly supposed to go. Why? It was fun. Did she have friends who would probably just let her in? Probably. But then there was no challenge.
And Amarus had difficulty keeping herself preoccupied. She always needed to keep busy, which meant always finding things to do. Even with the recent oddities, there seemed to be a shortage of entertaining tasks. Jin, Ashbel and Crow were back in her dorm room, likely rearranging her furniture, which seemed to be a strange passtime of theirs. More than once she'd walked in and walked straight into a chair.
Was that someone on the walkway? Amarus spun around, reducing herself to the minimum opacity first-years could achieve, the sound of her bells still ringing clear. Oh, it was just a very well-dressed blonde boil. Amarus regained her opacity and, instead of waiting there for him, began to walk towards him. Wouldn't it be fun if she ran, instead...? Impact was always fun.
She stared at him, debating this.

There was a ghoul walking towards him. Vaith thought really hard about it, trying to place the ghoul somewhere, looking for a reason why she might have stopped her activities to walk up to him. But even as he thought really hard about it, he couldn't seem to place her anywhere. From the way she faded in.. That was similar to another ghost he knew. So that meant .. all ghosts had this fading ability?
"If you're going to walk into me, why don't you just walk through me?"
She didn't look like she was stopping. Vaith never minded a pretty ghoul colliding into him, however, since it was always a welcome chance. To know people-- you know, in the ways that were rather preferable. Vaith couldn't recall having this sort of logic before but it was here now, so, it couldn't be helped. An easy grin crossed his neutral expression, tipping his head lower to address the ghoul.
"Although, I dont mind spontaneous accidental hugs."

She naturally had no idea who this boil was; she was still rather new, and hadn't made a lot of friends, nor enemies. No enemies at all, really. Amarus was so neutral that she didn't typically bother anyone enough to make them her enemy. Especially since apart from a select few, her emotions were locked under her blank expression and silvery eyes. "Is that supposed to be a pick-up line?" she asked the boil, tilting her head. The corner of her mouth tipped up in a smile, however, to indicate she was joking. She sighed, and decided not to run through him, instead coming to a halt.
"Walking through others makes me feel uncomfortable," she admitted, "besides, what if I get stuck on you and end up semi-tangible? I'm not the kind who can walk through solid objects, really. I'm a Lotus-Eater; good for dreaming, and for being disorienting." Amarus didn't explain exactly what she was, but the Lotus Eater smoke did that: relaxed, eased, and disoriented. It would be good if he wasn't in a hurry.
In a way that reminded her of her own expressions, the boil's neutrality opened into a smile, too. Amarus' eyes brightened the way they did when something had her attention. She laughed, and took a step forward. "But purposeful ones are a no?" she asked.

"Damn, you could tell? I'm doing an excellent job then." If he didn't make it obvious, how else was Vaith supposed to charm a girl? Vaith liked the straight shooters and it seemed like, this ghost was one of them. He listened to her explanation, his expression grimacing as the image visibly played out in his imagination. "Oh. I see. That does sound .. uncomfortable. That'd be a real pumpkin of a problem.. How would you get out of you were tangled?"
Scratch that, Vaith's expression looked a little horrified. Very horrified. The thought of two bodies visibly getting stuck .. Wiping. Vaith commanded himself to wipe the image from his brain, reverting back to the conversation at hand.
"Don't you think there's something unattractive about being too obvious? If you wanted a purposeful hug, I'd just ask for it first f it's a complete stranger. But if you're friends .." He thought of another particular ghost who hugged out of nowhere. Looking at that point of view, there was no way to say that purposeful ones were quite bad. They weren't, really.
".. Friends are ok. Hello, lovely stranger, would you like to become a friend? I accept all hugs and return them free of charge."

It was typically either nigh impossible or frightfully easy to charm Amarus: what she respected was power. Power of mind, body, FEAR, character, ambition-- anything that denoted someone who had strength in them made Amarus swoon. Well, swoon in her own way. Pick up lines weren't something she was used to, but she was familiar with joking around with friends. Provided her face wouldn't betray her again and neglect to change expressions when she needed it to. Either way, this boil seemed like he was fairly self-assured, at least enough to make it worth the time. "How would I get out of you if I was tangled?" she clarified, her face neutral again. HE looked mortified. That only made her more happy with herself.
It seemed like he was switching topics, though. "I don't typically hug anyone," Amarus explained, "so I don't know about the etiquette. Or what makes it painfully obvious. I think the last time I hugged anyone was Night, because he could not sleep, and that was not really a hug." It was because her essence, and closer proximity, were calming him down and helping him sleep. It was like anaesthesia.
She paused, as if she had to contemplate being friends for a moment. It was just a joke, though; the edge of her mouth tilted up in a grin. "Yes. Friends, it is. Amarus, by the way, did I say that?" Sometimes her perception of time was.. fuzzy.
Before she could think too much on it, Amarus stepped forward, hugged the boil, and stepped back. So that was what everyone seemed to enjoy so much? Strange.
