~Backstory and Personality~

It was all over the news back in the day. “Unnamed Infant Girl Lies Dying of Unknown Disease in Local Hospital.” The girl’s parents were distraught, having not even been able to hold their daughter in their arms. Two days after the article was published, a miracle occurred. The baby began to fight for her life. Over the next couple of weeks, the baby girl showed signs of steady recovery, and a month later, what appeared in the news: “Unnamed Infant Girl Miraculously Survives Unknown Deadly Disease”. The doctors and nurses were baffled. The entire world was baffled. How could a tiny baby, thought to be weak and in need of nurturing, beat a disease that no one had ever heard of before? Who could believe it? An event influenced only by the Gods, they called it. The parents, having not named their child due to all of the commotion, finally began to sit down and think of a name for their daughter. Since they both loved music and their child’s plight embodied strength itself, they found a happy medium and chose a fitting name: Forte.

Forte grew up to be a fairly happy child. She had a loving home, loving parents, and a nice neighborhood to live in. She was enrolled in piano lessons and at the tender age of ten, she was already playing compositions worthy of a master musician. She went to school and played like any normal child. However, an event that occurred when she was thirteen changed her outlook on life altogether. Forte gained a somewhat darker side, preferring to withdraw into her music rather than socialize. However, despite this she remained a friendly person overall, treating others with kindness and even having a few friends. There was just one person she couldn’t ever grow to like, not ever: Glee Harmony. Or should she say, Glee K----------------.

Several strange events over time have brought her to the world of Gaia, and more specifically, The Benevolent Order itself. The first of these was on a stormy night. A bizarre vortex appeared in her town, and she and one other person were sucked into it. This brought her to Gaia, and right in the middle of the B.O.O. and S.I.N. war at that. She jumped right in, fighting on the side of B.O.O. while a certain other person cowered in the forest behind the B.O.O. headquarters.

Over the years, Forte has become somewhat of a master of keyboards; that is to say, she can play any instrument as long as it has keys. The ones she is especially good at playing are the piano and the organ. She is a very smart girl for her age, and people have called her wise beyond her years on more than one occasion. Forte is somewhat charismatic and has an eloquent, rather strange way of speaking. This has often freaked people out and her demeanor and manner of speech have earned her the moniker “That Creepy Organ Girl”. Even though Forte appears to be somewhat enigmatic, she is a friendly girl and will not hesitate to help out someone in need. (Except Glee. Or a friend of Glee’s. Unless it’s a friend of hers as well. But…why would she have a friend who was friends with Glee? …Never mind.)

These tekteks are mirrored. Her bangs are obscuring her left eye, and in the one on the left the pillbox hat sits on her right side on top of her bangs. The feather is on her left side. (This is from another person's perspective. In other words, the tekteks above are what she would view in a mirror.) In addition, she has purple, iridescent elbow-length fingerless gloves on underneath her coat. (I have a design for her dress as well; if I can manage to draw it correctly and have it look decent I may upload it onto my deviantART account.)*

Influences:

Forte was kind of created randomly, so randomly in fact that I kind of forgot how she came into existence! I think it went like this: I happened to be on the internet (as usual) when I started really thinking about music and its elements. For some reason, I wandered onto a page listing various musical terms and stumbled upon the word "Forte". It means "to play loudly" or "strong". I wanted to have a strong girl character chock full of quirkiness and weirdness, so I thought this name was fitting. I also recalled that there was a movie character with the same name from a movie from my childhood. After reading up on this, Forte was born, but not completely. I wanted to give her a different name, but as I thought more and more about it the original name stuck so well that I decided to keep it. As for her last name, I thought "Nocturne" meaning "nighttime" sounded cool, so I decided on that. In addition, and by that I mean I realized this incredibly late, she bears some resemblance in personality (and in...rivalry? Could you call it that?) with Izaya Orihara of Durarara!!

Her clothes were also decided on randomly. I wanted something that screamed "classical music, composer, old-fashioned, slightly creepy, etc." so after messing around on tektek (like I do when I get bored shut up it's fun) I decided on her outfit. Her original outfit (and one I still might use) was an outfit one of my avi wore some time back. (B.O.O. robes, blue pillbox hat, green feather, etc.)

*this refers to the first tektek avi, her main outfit

~Talents and Levels of Expertise~

Expertise:

~Expert Musician/Composer
~Adept Spellcaster
~Beginner Cook (although she’s good at making desserts. 83)

Talents:

Forte has 3 main talents: Virtuoso, Diplomatic Immunity, and Trivial Magic

Virtuoso: There are two parts to this skill: Normal (regular, every day, basic, whatever adjective you’d like to use) and Combat (fighting).

Normal – It’s fairly obvious that Forte is a virtuoso, being a composer, pianist and organist and all. These abilities give her many unique talents to supplement these already amazing skills. For one, because she can play keyboards (and thus using both hands to play), she is ambidextrous. Possessing a musician’s ear, she can also tell whether something is wrong in a piece of music, no matter what the instrument(s) is/are. She is capable of composing melodies ad-lib and many of her compositions either can’t be replicated and/or read.

Combat – Forte is an Adept Spellcaster (see above) and is capable of using her musical skills in conjunction with her Spellcasting skills provided she can see an instrument with keys, or know there is one in the vicinity. The only things limiting this would be if the instrument is beyond her line of vision at the current time and if she isn’t sure there’s one there. (In other words, even if she can’t see it AT THE MOMENT but she has seen it BEFORE, she can use it.) Otherwise, even if the instrument is 2,000 feet away (or whatever distance away) and she can see it or knows it’s there, she can still use it to her advantage. Distance also plays other roles. This ability is strongest when the fighting is in closest proximity to the instrument and weakest when very far from it. If the instrument is in a building and the fighting is taking place outside, the ability is obviously weaker. When attacking, she uses the music and her physical and Spellcasting abilities to bring down an enemy. This ability gives her immunity to sound-based attacks as well.

Diplomatic Immunity (SO HAMMAH YOU CAN’T SUE 8D): Since Forte overcame an unknown deadly disease as a mere infant (and since she is not originally from Gaia), she is immune to virtually all illnesses. Biological warfare, chemical warfare, anything of that nature will not affect her, no matter how many times an enemy may try. She is also immune to sound-based attacks, seeing as how she is a Virtuoso (see above). Forte is also immune to stupidity and superficiality, but that’s beside the point. As she gets stronger, she may find she’s immune to other things as well.

Trivial Magic: Forte can use her magic to do silly little things as well, such as playing a piano from afar when she’s sitting and playing the organ (or vice versa), enabling her to play both at the same time, putting a spell on someone’s hair so that no matter how much it’s messed with it won’t look right, doing multiple things in the kitchen, making things disappear and reappear, things of that nature. When combining little trivial things, and even combining them with her other abilities, she becomes quite a formidable opponent. (Think of: they see me trollin’, they hatin’…8D)

~Quirks/Weirdness/Freaky Stuff in General/Etc. to Know/Keep in Mind~

~Forte has a trident that she fights with. It can be pulled out of the air whenever she needs to use it.
~She’s actually quite pretty and has nice legs (joke concept originally, but this is kind of a "secret" she doesn't like to show off, making her a little bit more vulnerable XD).
~The symbol she puts at the bottom-right corner of all her compositions to indicate it’s hers is a “Forte” sign in music (the f).
~She likes happy music but if asked to write something stupidly/sickeningly sweet she gets very unhappy and depressed (i.e., High School Musical-esque music).
~She has an iron will and can be a bit stubborn.
~She has a book filled with all her musical compositions, but it's not completely necessary because she has them all memorized. That doesn't mean it's not important to her though.
~Forte seems to like yoga.
~She has good reflexes, as seen when she was able to dodge a volleyball speeding toward her twice (the second time her back was turned and she was still able to dodge it.)
~Her middle name is Eve.
~

More to come~ (TRUST ME XD)

~Quotes~

(Telling Cressa not to worry about her falling for Jessie)
"Haha, worry not; as handsome as Jessie is, my heart isn't so easily swayed. The minute I saw him I could tell automatically that he has quite an entourage of female admirers. And trust me, past experiences have taught me not to even attempt to intervene in such a situation. And by past experiences I mean the violent catfights that used to take place at my old high school. Hair pulling, punch throwing, name calling; they were quite ugly."

(On men)
"As for men, I know very little about decent ones actually. You see the school I attended back home was filled with men that were...um...let's just say unclean for all intensive purposes. And they were always incredibly stupid. So yes, most of them don't have a clue. That's not to say all of them are like that though. At least, that's what I think."

(Telling Glee her reason for criticizing her three years ago)
"How couldn't I intervene, when you were making a twisted abomination out of a beautiful song with your so-called 'showmanship?'"

(Describing her first confrontation with Glee at the Temple to Xei)
"Well, for starters, I have had issues with that girl since I was a teenager. It's a long story, and I don't want to delve into it right now. As for the recent incident...I happened to be meeting two individuals in the Main Hall who recently came back to the Temple from far away...Alexi and Sven are their names. Cressa and Jessie happened to be in the vicinity too when all of a sudden...she appeared. Her name is Glee Harmony; but even that's not her real name. She is a self-centered, spoiled little rich girl who grew up getting everything she wanted whenever she wanted it. I firmly believe she hadn't heard the word 'no' until she entered school. Anyway, she came in and, it being in her nature, had to show off. She started mouthing off, so I simply stepped in to put her in her place. She lunged at me, so I made one of her shoes disappear, not just to make her fall for my and the others' amusement, but also to prevent her from running into the Captain, who had positioned himself between where the both of us stood shortly before. Because she's so horribly materialistic and would potentially kill for her shoes, Glee was angry and attempted to go after me again, but I had a strategy in mind. The way to best resolve the situation without it resorting to any sort of violence was to quite literally play upon what is potentially her greatest fear. Unfortunately, to carry this out I needed to lure her to the music room, so to do this as well as to protect myself from her 'attack', I ran. She, along with Alexi and Sven, followed me here and after a brief conversation, I played the organ and she panicked, running away screaming. That's the gist of it. My apologies for a rather lengthy description of a fast-paced event, as well as my manner of speech if it confused you...I'm oft-criticized for it being rather archaic and strange, but I suppose that's just how I am."

(To Glee)
"Oh Heavens, what poor rock did you crawl out from under?"

(To Laramie on why she won't hang out with him)
"To put it simply, why would I want to associate or be seen with the boyfriend of my nemesis and stir up more trouble for myself? Anyone with an ounce of intelligence can see a situation like that is more a breeding ground for trouble than a deal with the devil himself. Like I said, you of all people should know how much I hate confrontation."

(To Laramie expressing her anger about leaving class early to help with an alleged "emergency")
"Before we go anywhere let me make it known that I am very displeased about having to leave class early. And mark my words, if this so-called 'emergency' is anything but, I swear to the Heavens above I will take you and hang you on the nearest tree upside down by your ankles."

Her speech in this post.

~Revealed Through RP~

Forte is somewhat of a recluse, not really participating in social things unless she feels like it. Music is always able to draw her out of her "hiding" places. She has a clear voice and an excellent memory, being able to remember musical compositions for long periods of time without writing them down. She started taking piano lessons at age four, but taught herself the organ later on in life. She grew up an only child. Forte dislikes confrontation because of constant harassment at her old high school. People would usually avoid her because of the rumors they heard. She enjoys freaking people out because it lessens the flow of intolerance. Her old school apparently had a lot of catfights and stupid boys. Forte is a tad shy and appears to be quite the hopeless romantic. She hold her parents in very high regard. She apparently knew of Alexi from back during the First War, having personally fought in it, and thought of the girl as her role model. She hates violence and prefers to avoid it unless it's justifiable. In an encounter with Glee, Forte showed that she is able to keep her cool even in tense situations. She also cryptically alluded to the reason she hates Glee. She also knows of Glee's fear of organ music and is not afraid to use this to her advantage. She dislikes having people see her vulnerabilities and the worst in her, the latter of which often happens in confrontations with Glee. For an unknown reason, Forte despises makeup.

She has ten years worth of swimming lessons from back home. It is unknown where she took them, but it was not at the local Park District because that's where Glee took her lessons. In an encounter with Laramie Anderson, Glee's boyfriend, it was revealed that not only do the two know each other, but that Forte hates singing. It is also evident through their conversation that Forte can't stand the likes of Laramie, despite it being very obvious he's interested in her, although whether his interest is romantic or other remains to be seen. She appears to have had an incident when she was three years old involving bullying at a local park. Forte is terrible at volleyball, often relying on luck whenever she has to play.

One night, Forte was asked to play at a famous local restaurant in town. Everything was going smoothly until Glee and Laramie showed up for a date, the former stirring up trouble by harassing Forte. This lead to her leaving and later feeling incredibly upset. Returning to the Temple's Music Room, Forte began to play a song and, after thinking it didn't sound right, begrudgingly decided to add the lyrics. Unfortunately for her, Laramie was in the vicinity, and he heard her singing, something that made her freak out. The next morning, Forte, Laramie and Glee were called in to see the High Priestess along with the other higher-ups, where it was decided a punishment would be carried out. Shortly after, Forte almost collapsed due to a head injury sustained the night before (during her freak-out after Laramie heard her singing). She decided to go to a small forest on the beach to recuperate.

After recovering, she and Laramie had a rather deep conversation on the beach, leading to Forte revealing some of her intricacies. She has a rule with music: if a song without lyrics doesn't sound right to her no matter how much she messes with it, she'll add the lyrics, even though she doesn't like it. Forte also states that the reason she hates singing is because these days all it's about is public image rather than how the music sounds. However, despite this, Forte is actually a way better singer than Glee. After hearing all of these things (and even seeing her a little vulnerable) Laramie asks if he could be her friend, which she accepts, but with her guard up.

A while later, Forte's and Glee's punishment is carried out: the two are given quarterstaffs and told to switch weapons by any means necessary. As usual, the two started off fighting both physically and verbally but later on Forte herself figured out the solution: just switch weapons. Upon doing this, they unknowingly have taken the first step to understanding each other.

And now it's fun-fact time!! =D

Forte can play "Never Gonna Give You Up" on both the piano and the organ. Perfectly. Can you imagine if she rickrolled someone? It'd be hilarious. Or terrifying. Or both.

Forte can dance really well, although no one has ever seen her dance (and lived to tell the tale.)

Just kidding, no one has actually seen her dance. She's kind of a private person.

EDIT: Well, actually as of right now only one person has seen her dance and lived. That would be Laramie, Glee's boyfriend. Although that's not to say Forte wasn't considering beating him up after the fact.

She loves desserts and is good at making them. In fact, there was this one time when she was cooking in her cooking class at her old high school and she made too much of this dessert and gave the extras to her classmates. They loved it so much that they completely forgot to eat Glee's dessert (much to Glee's dismay)....

Glee and Forte are bitter enemies, so much so that if put together in a locked room the two of them will inevitably kill each other. Or something to that effect.

Who knows why the two of them hate each other so much? Stay tuned and find out.

There was also this one time back when she was little where she had a "Piano-Off" with a famous pianist from her hometown. She beat the pants off him.

She was only eleven years old at the time.

He was twenty-six.

Ego dropped like a rock. But he did commend her on a job well done.

Christmas is Forte's favorite holiday, followed closely by Halloween and the starts of Spring and Summer. (Not technically holidays, but still.)

The first song Forte ever wrote was about how much she loved cake. It had lyrics, music and lasted for almost fifteen minutes. She wrote this when she was six.

She still plays this song from time to time, but only when no one's around.
