Ru was spending his time getting to know his new surroundings. He’s been a bit lonely since he left his sisters,Subira and Imamu and it was hard being alone since he always grew up in a big family. He was one of a litter of ten. But he finally decided that since his two closest sisters, the twins had children of their own it was time he started to find his own place to call home and start a family.
He felt so alone most of the time since he has never really been alone so when he ran into others then he felt useful. For now he felt useless, he was always the protector in his family so without anyone to protect he felt out of place in this vast open world.
Ukuqala was looking around her area playing happily not noticing the small pack of hungry wolves that were startign to enclose around her. She was to busy playing and rolling around in the grass, after all who would want to harm her she was just a lone wild dog out in the grasslands that she loved so much. looking around she finally noticed them. Fressing in place she let out a growl trying to fein that she knew what she was doing. She was not good at fighting and really had no idea if she could take down this many wolves.
Letting out a yelp as one of them jumped at her she growled again snapping at them as the started to attack her obviously thinking her an easy meal. Scratching at them and trying to fight them of she let out another yelp as the manged to bight into her leg another clawing at her face.
Rutendos ears perk up, what was that, he began trotting in the direction, there was someone in the area, possibly someone to befriend. He heard another sound, the sound of someone in need of help and with pure instinct he ran towards the cries. Arriving at the seen he saw the pack of maned wolves surrounding a female wild dog.
Without stopping he dashed towards the pack, even though there smaller then her there was always strength in numbers. He leaped onto the one clawing her face and snapping its neck, growling, tackling and attacking the remaining until they were either dead or running away. He was so concerned about the female he hadnt even noticed that one was able to get a bite out of his neck. "Aree you okay Miss?" He said going over to the female checking on wounds to make sure she would be okay and that none were serious.
She let out a breath as another wild dog jumped into to help her she was, frighted terribly so. The wild dog's had managed to injure her forleg enough to cause a limp any sort of pressure put on it caused her to let out a small yelp of pain. "Thank you so much... you saved me.. I never thought I would get attacked out here.... " She smiled slightly before shivering and getting out of the grass.
She smiled slightly looking at him. "Thank you again. My name is Ukuqala, there has to be some way I can repay you for this... though I am a bit childish.. I suppose you could say. I like playing and jumping around.. but it get's me in situation's like theses sometime's."
Rutendo smiled to see she was okay. "Your welcome Ukuqala. You can never be too careful in the roguelands i'm just glad i was able to save you." He said eyeing her leg. He has seen that kind of wound during his many travels and he has experienced it. Ru helped her out of the grass." My name is Rutendo, or Ru as my family called me." He said said laying down next to her.
He didnt really know how to help heal wound that was always Imamu's thing he was the protector imamu the healer and subira the, well she was there. "Is your leg going to be okay." He didnt want to leaver her in this weakened stated, he knew she was going to be around for a few days until she was healed he just didnt want her to feel uncomfortable.
She smiled softly at him as he helped her out of the grass she winced as she felt a blade of the grass dig into the wound. When he decided to lay next to her she looked down trying to ignore the pain in her leg. "Well thank you Rutendo. It's thanks to you that I am safe, and as I said you can call me Ukukala, I dont really have a nickname."
She leaned down trying to clean the wound but the bite was placed in an odd place meaning she would have to walk to a river or waterign hole to get the wound cleaned out. "I will be fine. I just need to get the wound cleaned out, that's all. .. Do you think you could help me get to a watering howl or river? I don't know if there are more of those wolves out here..."
Rutendo thought about it, he knew one a bit aways but he doubt she could make it. "It's a bit aways and i dont want you to put any strain on it." He looked at her in an almost apologetic manner he had never dont this to any one other then his family but she was right, it had to be cleaned. He inched closer and began licking her leg and gently as he could, he dint know how much pain she was feeling.
He watched her expression carefully he hoped he wasnt making things awkward for her. He was just used to cleaning his sisters wounds so it was natural for him.
She was a bit shocked at first when he started cleaning the wound for her but it was okay he was being gentle and it didn't really hurt that much as he did that. "Thanks's..." Now she really owed him not only had he saved her but he was helping her with her wounds. She looked down at the ground letting out a slight whimper as the pain hit her again the last of the adreniline finally leaving her system.
She was trying to keep a breave face through the pain but it hurt... Even if he was being gentle, it didn't stop the pain from courseing through her as the wound was being cleaned as there was no hearbs out here to numb the pain.
Ru noticed her reaction, she was like Imamu sweet but afraid to show her true self. He didnt stop, he knew it had to be cleaned. He remebered the time he was a adol and he was attacked by hyenas. If it wasnt for Nanu he would have made it. He could be such a momm's boy sometimes.
He began to finish licking her wounds, if he was going to stay with her there was no was she would be able to hunt and he couldnt leave her out alone and wounded. "Cmon, we need to find a den for safety." He said finishing up. On a bit of a personal level he didnt care if she agreed or disagree with sharing a den he wasnt going to leave her alone. He was debating weather to carry her to make it faster or allowing her to walk. "I beleive i saw one further back. Do you want to be carried or try to walk?" He stated standing tall and looking down at Ukukala.
She winced slightly as he continued to clean the wound. It hurt but it had to be done. She looked up as he finished he seemed to be debating something though what she had no idea. when she looked back up however he was finished completely.
Looking up at he she thought over his question would she rather walk or be caried... If she was carried they would get to the den he was talking about earlier and then it would be quite a bit easier to stay safe rather than out here in the open where there was the possibility of more visious animals being atracted to the smell of her blood. Or she couls walk and make the blood flow faster once again causeing a greater chance of a more vicious animal coming along. "Could you carry me? Not that I really need it, but it would get us to the den you were talking of quicker." She was trying not to seem like to much of a burden he was doing so much for her.
Ru was pleased to hear the she would let him carry her, he wanted to get to shelter quickly but he just didnt want to make her uncomfortable."I agree, it will be much quicker." He positioned himself so he could easiler manuvier her up onto his back, "Alright, one two up." He said sliding the female onto his back.
She was pretty light or Ru was stronger then he realized. "Well off we go." He smiled beginning to walk back to where he last saw the den.
She easily slid onto his back making sure she was well balanced so as to not hinger his movement's laying her head down she let out a soft whine when her wound moved slightly she shook her head trying to clear it of the pain knowing that the pain would only hinder her thinking at the moment. She yelped slightly looking down. "...sorry that I keep doing that.. I'm trying not to.."
She didn't want to apear inferior infront of him though in her injured state it seemed like that was all that was happening. She looked back down at the ground trying to keep her injured leg from bumping around to much and away from the grass.
