Contrary to most people's immediate assumption when he said he went to Azure Valley, Kail didn't dislike music. In fact, he enjoyed listening to music far more than most people - he just didn't particularly care about all the other bits - the stupid fans and bands and concerts and such trappings. Unfortunately that seemed to be the basis of almost all music nowadays, which led Kail's listening repertoire to lean more upon classical music and old, slow ballad-type songs. Said repertoire meant that whilst the sudden rush for shopping districts in the festive season, he very much appreciated the music played by the sudden multitudes of buskers.
Which was of course what led to this current situation - sitting on a bench outside in the cold for over two hours, listening to a guitar player on the corner. He was very, very good.

Eric liked playing in the holiday season, everyone was much more generous. Granted, the cold air made it hurt his fingers to play, but it was worth it. He’d made seven dollars already today!
He played for a long time before he stopped to take a short break and rest his poor fingers. He blew into his hands to warm them up and stood up to stretch. He noticed the man sitting on the bench, he’d been sitting there for a while it seemed. He waived to him, he liked having an audience however small.

And here came the second issue. The music? Great! People noticing him? Oh god absolutely not. Kail tentatively waved back, sinking his head further into his coat collar as he did so. Bluuurrrgh. He'd come out to listen to music not to be talked to. Grumpy? Maybe a little. Doomday was getting closer and closer. Doomday being christmas, of course. Usually Kail didn't mind christmas. In fact, one even might risk to say he liked it. But that was usually. This year, thanks to some ridicolous custody agreement, he was being packed off to his mothers, who didnt e-you came out to forget about it.
So Kail suddenly grinned full-force at the guitar-guy, and ignoring his nerves, decided to go over. Standing to his full height (...so unimpressively small.), the boy trudged over and introduced himself. A little too fast and a little too nervously...but hey, you can't win at everything.
"Hi I'm Kail I like your guitar playing you are verygood."

Eric smiled at him and patted his guitar. He liked hearing that people liked his music. He spoke, hoping he wouldn't be hard to understand through his Scottish accent.
"Oh thank you very much; I like to hear I have a fan."
He moved his fingers to the head of the guitar to tune his A string, letting it out a half turn to make the noise lower. It had been too high in the last song.
"So, do you have any requests lad? I know most of the holiday songs and a few other things if you have something in mind. What do you want to hear tonight?"
