The phoenix could feel it; the sun was coming up. She stayed nestled deeply in her nest and absorbed as much sunlight from her location, refusing to move. Every now and then, a strand of sunlight would get past the branches of her oak tree and hit her wings, and she'd absorb it. But it's not like she needed to; after that nap, she felt fully rested and completely vitalized. And maybe a slight more lazy...
But then her conscious rung in; Adarna, are you really going to spend your last day lazying about? Her youthful past would not agree to that. Reluctantly, the phoenix opened one eye, then rustled her feathers a bit and finally stood up. For a moment, the phoenix stood there, standing in her nest, waiting, and then spontaneously combusted. After a few seconds of burning for a bit, the figure of a girl replaced that of a large bird and Adarna sat there, legs crossed, as she contemplated what to do today.
Well, it was early morning, so she figured sunbathing might as well cover it, at least for now. She pushed the twigs and branches out of the way, jumped to the other tree and climbed out of that one, sliding down the bark and landing on her feet. She looked around for a moment and saw up ahead a large patch of sunlight hitting this one area on the floor. It was just asking to be sat on. But then her eyes caught something else and she turned around.
"Oh goodie," Adarna murmured more to herself with no enthusiasm. "Ember, was it? What do you want?"
