Roch grabbed Taryn's hand as soon as they were outside the theater, taking a deep breath as he looked around. "What... the jack?" he said as he saw the strange barrier that was above them. Then he let out a sigh, relaxing. "Jack I wanted out of there," he told her, turning with a grin. "Did you hear it? How'd I do?"
Wait, weren't they supposed to be running off to fight bad guys? "Think I deserve a hug for that one?" he asked, clearly NOT as worried about the whole big problem as he should have been. But truth? He was getting tired of dying going up against minibosses. A few moments with a cuddle buddy was WAY more on his list of things to do.

Taryn was still nearly hyperventilating, reaching out as if to touch the barrier and then stopping. Who knew what it was? It could be deadly. Through the worry, though, she felt a pang of something else.
...total absurdity, maybe?
The ghoul gave Roch a look like he was insane, and then decided to blame it all on stress. She threw her arms around Roch again, drawing comfort from his arms, from hearing him breath and his heart beat. After a moment she lifted her head and kissed him on the cheek.
"It was amazing," she nodded, pulling away when the hug was through to hold up the bag of spookies, "These are for you..." Flowers hadn't really seemed appropriate.

He grinned. He got a kiss! And spookies! He took the bag, pulling one out and munching on it happily. "Hell, we should be happy he didn't put us in tights or something," he said as he finished it. "Last bosses I dealt with liked clothing changes at random." Then he looked around again. "But this place sure is weird. Wonder where the jack we are..." But he wasn't that worried.
The idiot. "Jack do you have any clue how stinky it got down there with so many gnomes?" he complained, eating another spookie. "And they were all freakin' UGLY," he added.

Alright, really? It didn't seem that Roch much cared that they had all almost been stomped-on by an enormous rat, or that they were apparently trapped. The play was the furthest thing from Taryn's mind, like silly frivolities before the main event (and it felt strange, considering what a big deal it had felt like as it went on). She gave Roch another look something like a kicked Scareon and squeezed his hand.
"Roch, things are trying to kill us. Can we talk about the play later?"

"Yeah, ok, ok," Roch said, sighing and shoving his hands into his pockets. "Jack I am tired of dissipating," he complained as he looked around. There were other people around, looking far more freaked out than he felt. Maybe he was getting callous to this? All he wanted was to steal another hug and maybe find someplace to hang out at, relax, get his ego stroked. Let all those other gung-ho guys go out battling monsters!
"We're still in Halloween, aren't we?" he asked with a slight frown.

"I'm not going to let you dissipate," Taryn reassured him, because 'die' just seemed too final. At least she knew of dissipation and reformation before this all started going down. Death might have been a lot scarier otherwise. "I don't know... did this come to us, or... did we go to them?"
The ghoul really hoped it was the former. She didn't want to have to trek her way back from whatever this horrible place was.

He sighed and held out a hand, almost demanding that she take it. "C'mon, let's go look around, maybe we can figure something out." Which, really, did he want to? "FOR another hug," he told her, being a complete and utter brat. "Then we'll go mon--er boss hunting or something, because I'm sure there's something out here that shouldn't be, I'm just unlucky enough to get that sort of stuff instead of a standing ovation."

"I was going to come visit you after the play, but... yenno..." Taryn sighed, giving Roch's hand a squeeze. She was clearly not so interested in physical affection as the boil. "I'm not sure I want to go looking for trouble, but looking for answers might suit. I'd like to know what's really up..."

"Yeah, you're right," he said with a sigh. "But the last time I ran off looking for answers these stupid cleaning bots took to killing themselves on my leg and guitar. And by the time I was done the school had already been saved," he drawled, with just a tiny hint of amusement.
But why not? It was either run around trying to figure out what was going on or stay in the theater, getting sick off the smell. Besides, this wasn't the first time he'd been in a strange posit--SITUATION with Taryn. "Uh... you have much fighting experience?" he asked her, casually looking up at the snow that was falling and wishing he'd thought to bring his coat.
It didn't look right, the boil thought with a slight frown. He'd seen snow when Arel had taken them to the real world that one time. It hadn't been nearly this... sparkly.

"That won't happen this time," Taryn reassured her companion. Of course, she couldn't even be sure that the hunters weren't behind this (hey, maybe they controlled huge rat armies, who knew?) and had no reason to believe that they weren't going to both die horrible deaths, but it was nice to be optimistic. "I... no. I haven't fought much. I think fire might come in handy this time, though. Thank Jack I brought my coat..."
The ghoul tucked her hands into her peacoat's pockets and she sighed, seeing her breath puff before her, even without smoke. Uggghhh...

He shoved his hands into his pockets, ignoring his lack of a coat. "Hey, maybe if we find a bad guy with a coat I can steal it!" he said, cheering up abruptly. Then he started out, heading for the barrier to see what was going on. "Jack it's freezing," he complained. "Maybe we should have stayed inside, after all."
Even though he'd vomited for who knew how long because of the smell.

"Sounds good to me..." Taryn nodded, bunching up further into herself as she approached the barrier herself. How strange... she reached out and touched it. Cold. What was beyond it? It was impossible to see... "I don't understand... this can't be another field trip, can it?"

"We're still at the school, though," Roch said, looking behind them with a scowl. "And I don't remember signing up for crap, except the play," he added. "Something happened, and I ain't sure what. Maybe we should check and see if the dorms are here. And hell, pick up my coat while we're at it."
He was jackin' FREEZING. A coat with half a sleeve missing sounded a hell of a lot better than no coat at all!

"Alright," Taryn nodded. Any plan at this point had to be better than nothing. She was a bit nervous herself to see what had become of the monster dorms as well, so seeing the reapers' may change her mind. It was time to explore... "I wonder what's expected of us here..."
She was reminded a bit of Cloodia's dream; a world full of fairies and dancing plants... and snow. Was she dreaming, perhaps?

"Who knows? Who cares? The jackers should have warned us before setting us up in some sort of barrier and dropping sparkly snow on our heads," the punk boil complained. "Taryn? Can I wrap my arm around your waist? I am jackin' FREEZING," he said, shivering visibly.
