Roch was still a bit beat up, but that didn't stop him from heading into town with the resident ice demon, to a tiny little place on a street corner that had some of the best eye scream around. He wore his new coat, a strange contraption that had the upper part of the right arm cut out and sewn so it only let the wind touch that skin--the skin that was covered with his tattoo.
He hadn't mentioned this, he didn't know if she expected an explanation or not. For her, he probably would give one. More often than not he didn't bother. He opened the door of the shop, letting her go in first.

Edel hadn't been to that particular ice cream parlor before, but any ice cream was good for the frost demon. It might look strange to see the odd pair of them hobbling down the street, sporting bruises here and there but all was irrelevant in the name of ice cream.
The ghoul nodded courteously as Roch's gesture, entering the shop and zooming off to the counter to stare down at the tubs of ice cream. It was always difficult, deciding which flavour to get. There were just so many of them!

He grinned at the ghoul behind the counter, not even saying a word as she let out a sigh and started building a massive tower of ice cream for him. "Thanks," he said, digging out his wallet. "Take your time," he told Edel. "There's a ton of great choices here." Though he was tempted to ask for an ice pack for his stomach--oh, wait, Edel was here. He'd ask her when they sat down.

“Eight scoops?”
“Yes, those eight, do I need to repeat the flavours again? -”
“No, no, it's alright. You're very welcome”
An ornate ice bowl was sitting on the counter, soon to be filled in with ice cream. And on the other side of the counter was a very tall ghoul towering over it, looking on expectantly.
Edel took a seat in the corner of the shop, setting down the bowl of ice cream in front of her and looking all too pleased with herself. It seemed that Roch had gotten a nice amount of ice cream too, which meant they would be sitting there and enjoying a very nice and long chat.
Now. Where to begin?

Roch paid the ladies and headed for the table as well, sitting down with his ice cream and a slight grin. "So, this is definitely something I could take Danny to," he told her as he started to eat. Man it was good! His stomach hurt like a sonofawitch, but he always had room for ice cream!

Edel wasn't too sure if Roch was being sarcastic or not, but she dug in anyway. Mint, mmm. The ghoul loved the cooling effect it left in her mouth. Icy ice cream.
Roch had also brought up the perfect topic to start the conversation with. About Danny. Edel never got why the ghoul hated her so much. Trying to get through the ghoul was an impossible feat, she found out during their last battle. Edel was quite keen on labeling Danny as belligerent ... but that wouldn't be too nice would it. But she is she argued mentally. Quashing that train of thought, the ghoul settled on a very, very simple question.
“Roch, you are close friends with Danny yes?” there was an awkward paused as the ghoul shifted a scoop of ice cream around, “I was wondering if you knew why she, er, hates me so much?” The ghoul had a few ideas herself, but she really wanted Roch's input.

"Eh, she's simple minded," Roch said, still eating. "You're ice, she's fire, she don't like you, far as I can tell."

And those were three ticks against the list of options in her head.
“Mm, I figured out as much. It's a little unnerving though, hate at first sight.” Was there even such a thing? Between Danny and her, probably yes.
“How have you been?” It was an honest question, the ghoul wanted to know how the reaper had been faring. She remembered how upset he had been at the last field trip and though it had been some time, well, she hadn't really gotten over it.

"Fine," he said with a shrug. "Working my a** off trying to get the gnomes ready for the play, running around, getting over a crush," he summed up. "You, was there something between you and someone or are you single?" he asked with a flirty grin. Not that he really meant it or anything. He was just goofin' off, enjoying his freedom.
"I'm teasing," he added, just in case she didn't get it. "Have had a bit of trouble sleeping lately, though. But oh well. That'll probably be better after the play is over."

The ghoul was on to her third scoop of ice cream as she listened, her eyes raised up from the bowl to give the reaper a curious look when he mentioned the word “crush”. Did Roch like somebody? Danny? ... nah, that sounded unlikely.
Roch's next question made the ghoul jerk involuntarily, sending her spoon flying and clattering on the floor. In her seat was not a very, very flustered looking ghoul. She got that part that he was teasing her alright but ah – oh right.
“Well I,” she reached down to pick up the spoon, setting it on the table, “am not seeing any one...” She wished she were, but that – were those feelings mutual? Edel fiddled with the spoon and then left it alone, forming a replica made of ice and continued to work away at the ice cream.
“Classical music could help with sleep,” she offered casually. “A crush you say?”
Edel wasn't exactly so curious about Roch's love life, rather, she wanted to know how he was dealing with it. Because who knows, she might need some advice too ... if the worse were to happen.

There was a wicked little grin on his face as he watched the spoon fly. "Jack is it fun not being in 'like' with someone specific," he said, leaning back in his chair. His ice cream was gone, disappearing into the same mouth that had won the school eating contest.
"But yeah, I had a really retarded crush for a while. Don't anymore. I'm extremely happy with that fact, too. All this romantic candlejack is a waste of time and energy." And frankly, he was relieved that Edel wasn't dating someone. He was seriously avoiding hanging out with taken ghouls.

Edel eyed the punk reaper warily. Does he know something?
The ghoul pouted a little a at Roch's comment about romance. Admittedly, what he said was probably true but romance was something... ~magical~. Edel, like every other teenage ghoul wanted to experience it too.
“Do you want some of mine?” she offered, pushing her bowl toward the reaper. Thanks to her natural ability, the ice cream was still perfectly frozen.
Onto the next question. This one was a little more touchy, but the ghoul had to know. She was going to make plans for it eventually...
“I hope you're not offended by the next question... but uhm, w-what do you know about those boogeymen?” she stammered out slightly. She realised that might have come across a little wrong, she only asked because she had seen Roch dealing with them personally. “I don't mean to judge you or anything, perhaps let me rephrase the question. Why and what do you think the boogeymen are doing?” She didn't need to be specific now did she? It was all over the papers, and all over school. Everyone in Amityville knew about the entire scandal.

He waved off the ice cream, not wanting more. "Um... you mean tryin' to close the school?" he asked, thinking about it. "Well..." He thought about the conversation he'd had with the boogey when getting his FEAR fixed. "Some... well, one of them, he was more intent on the fact that he lost Red--seemed like they were pals. But I seriously doubt he was the one that tried to shut us down. And he sure as hell isn't like the ones I ran into when I was younger."
"I think we know too much," he said quietly. "And you can't go in and arrest all these kids--not when most of them are rich and part of famous families. So you gotta break them up. Send them various places, prove you can shut them down and shut them up."

“Would you happen to refer to the one in the blue and white cloak?” Edel whispered. She didn't mention the boogeyman's name, for fear of implicating him, but that description may have been a little too vague. “Bells.” she added simply.
Edel let out a dark hiss at what Roch said, crossing her legs and leaning away from the table. Her eyebrows were furrowed but she lightened her expression when she continued. “I think we know too little.” The ghoul dug at the ice cream but left the spoon in there. “And that goes for the rest of Halloween.”
“You may be right about the arrests, but maybe not. I think it's possible if we push them a little too far.” The ghoul shifted her glance from the reaper to the ice cream. “The adults don't talk about it for a reason.” Edel helped herself to a spoon of mint ice cream. “But I think we should lie low about it, you're right about them being able to shut us up.”
The frost demon lowered the spoon and leaned in a little closer to whisper the next part. “I don't intend to oppose them at all. But. Speaking of rich and famous families,” Edel looked Roch in the eye as she said the next part, “we could band them together, if we try.”
“It won't be limited to just them, though, but strong networks spanning across all races regardless, it might come in handy.” A faint, sardonic smile appeared, but left quickly. “If one of us goes missing... especially my type, I'm thinking, Halloween might start to recognise this read my lips,” War she mouthed.
“I may be just talking big though. Six months into school and I still hardly know most of the people in school.” Edel took another scoop of her ice cream and left it in her mouth.
“Do you?”

He thought about it. "Well, not as many as I could," he admitted. "The ones I tend to attract are punks and troublemakers, plus a handful of reapers, which seem to be trouble makers by nature," he admitted. "I ain't rich, I ain't uppercrust, and I'm not the one you should be talking to about that sort of thing. But I know who you should be," he said, leaning forward.
"The school president, Riley, she's the one you need to go to. But she took a seriously dangerous hit when the fire happened, so now might not be good for that. Barth might be good to talk to, too. Xiu's a demon, but I don't know how influential her race is," he said with a shrug. "Lizzy..."
Heh, like he wanted to talk about her.
