((This is a prp/srp between me, myself, and I. Characters are: Teepee Alanna was walking leisurely, enjoying the feeling of the sun. It never got this warm where she was from, way up north. Mostly it just snowed, and was cloudy all the time. When the sun was out, it was beaming down on the snow and reflected painfully into ones eyes. Snow blindness was a frequent complaint in her area.
The complete lack of snow in any direction was one of the reasons Alanna was in the area, the other was she genuinely didn't know what else to do other than to keep going. She'd not met many people since coming to these lands, though most were friendly enough they didn't want more than a 'how do you do' before they were off again. With a sigh, she leaned her head back, letting the sun catch her more fully in the face while she closed her eyes.
It was here, basking in the sun with her eyes closed, that she tripped and fell to the ground. With a groan, she looked behind herself and immediately jumped up, running over to the still form she'd tripped over. It groaned to itself, so she knew it (he, she corrected) was alive, but deeply unconscious. Aryon groaned in pain, his head was pounding and for some reason his back hurt. The rest of him did too, just that one place felt like he'd been kicked recently. He could tell he was running a fever, the sun was beating down on him and he still felt bitingly cold. The urge to curl into a ball and try to disappear was strong, but he couldn't seem to move his body. He twitched an eyelid open and immediately regretted it. The sunlight felt like it was bouncing around inside his abused brain, intensifying the already migraine level headache.
"Elle..." he whispered, sure she was near him. Alanna jumped, startled. He'd just said something! She bent closer, scrutinizing his face, amazed to see one eye cracked open. She wondered if he was actually awake, or if he was dreaming something. It must be nice, if it was about a girl, she giggled. His mate? Who knew, hopefully he'd answer her questions later. "I'm sorry, I'm not her. My name's Alanna. Are you okay?" she questioned.

Aryon dared to move his head a little and was happy to note that at least that didn't hurt to do. His eyes adjusted and the throbbing headache subsided somewhat, he took in the site of the pale mare in front of him. She was of average size for a Regular mare, a mostly white pelt and with red hair. It was up in a style he had seen on many other mares in the realm, braids and feathers everywhere with her bangs left alone to sweep in front of her eyes. Are those sprigs of mistletoe in her hair, he wondered to himself idly.
"I'm sorry. I thought you were...nevermind. Who are you?" he asked, having not caught her name the first time.
Whatever had happened to the stallion to put him in this state, Alanna was sure it was not good. Hopefully it had not involved another soquili because she had no skills in combat. The best she could do to fend off a foe was flail at them with her hooves and hope she hit something that hurt.
"I'm Alanna, as I said. What happened to you?" she replied, kindly ignoring that he had not heard her earlier.
Aryon regarded the mare who was still looming over him. What had happened? He couldn't remember...there was something...a sickness? Brown eyes...no, yellow?
"I don't...why can't I remember?" he mumbled.
It hurt his head to try to remember. He had a name. What was it? A...a...it started with an A. She over there was Alanna. Aryon. That was it. It was a small comfort that he could feel in his bones, his name was Aryon.
Oh dear, Alanna thought to herself, this is not good. She looked around the plain to make sure there was no one who would catch them off guard in the immediate area before joining the downed stallion on the ground. Amnesia was something that she had only ever heard rumors of but it seemed she was about to gain first hand knowledge.
"It's okay," she began, trying to keep him from panicking, "can you tell me your name at least?"
"Aryon." he supplied immediately, grateful to be able to answer at least one question.
There were...impressions in his mind. Of fierce eyes and brown curly hair. A protector...someone to be protected...Elle.
The headache was receding but with it any sense of familiarity he felt with the area. It was...strange. He knew he was a Soquili. He knew he was in a grassland, that it would be a bad idea to stay where they were in case something mean came along, and he knew he could fight those mean things off on a good day. Today was not one of those, despite his head aching less he could tell he had been very sick recently. The ache of joints and the weak feeling in his muscles was evidence he somehow remembered meant that he was barely over a terrible fever.
"I can't...remember anything else. About myself, that is. Do you know me?" he asked.
Alanna watched the stallion, Aryon, take stock of himself. She could tell it hadn't truly hit him yet, the situation he found himself in. Alanna wondered if he was able to move because it was really not a good idea to stay where they were for much longer. Aryon had been bleeding, she now noticed. The place his head had rested was brown with dried blood mixed with dirt and she made note for later that he would need that cleaned.
"I'm sorry, I don't. I came across you passed out just a little while ago, and you woke almost immediately. Do you remember anything, anything at all? You said a name when you first woke, who is Elle?"

Aryon frowned, who indeed? He could picture warm brown eyes, and a feeling of affection bubbled in his chest. It made it all the more painful that he could not remember such a being that invoked such feelings within him at the thought of her. She was obviously precious to him, but he could. not. remember.
With a cry of frustration, he shouted, "I don't know! I can't remember anything about anything! What happened to me?"
His voice was gaining a desperate edge to it, the reality of his situation slowly sinking in. What would he do? He didn't know anyone, or anything for that matter. He would wander around forever...panic was setting into his mind and he felt completely out of control. A persistent ache was settling in his temples, a feeling of deja vu pressed in and he felt his throat contrict. He couldn't breathe!
"Hey! Calm down!" Alanna shouted, unnerved by the sudden onset of panic.
The weird stranger had seemed mostly okay just a moment ago, and now seemed to be in the midst of a panic attack. Not that she blamed him, but it wouldn't help either of them for him to pass out again.
"I can help you!" she added.

Her words registered slowly in his mind. Help. She would help him. Help him what? He didn't know anything about himself...who he was, how he'd gotten there...what had happened to him.
Black dots swam in front of his vision, and suddenly he realized he hadn't taken a breath in almost two minutes. With a gasp, his head cleared a bit and the panic began to ebb. This was horrible, yes, but panic wouldn't help him. The mare - Alanna? - had said she would help. How, he didn't know yet, but it was better than being on his own.
A few more deep breaths and he had himself under control again. As long as he didn't think about it, the gray area where his memory should be, he was okay.
Looking at Alanna wearily, he decided he felt well enough to try standing.
"Why would you help someone you just met?" he asked when he was sure he wasn't going to fall over again.

Alanna smiled, somewhat bitterly, and thought of her family back to the north. She thought of her hopes for these lands and how they had not been realized. It was fun to explore, but to do it alone was boring and lonely and she was sick of it.
Shaking herself out of her thoughts, she looked over the stallion before her again. He was small for a stallion, and looked a little manic around the eyes but that was okay.
"I'll help because it's the right thing to do. You don't look like you are the kind of person who would trick me for some nefarious purpose and what kind of person would I be if I left you to yourself when I know your situation?" she replied.

Aryon was silent as he stared into Alanna's eyes, trying to gauge her sincerity. He didn't know if he had been a trusting person before, or really who he'd been at all. Still, he didn't have a lot left to lose.
"Thank you." he said softly, lowering his eyes.
Calmed somewhat from his panic, he realized that the side of his face felt stiff and his hair was snarled and full of dirt and dried blood. He made a face at himself.
"Is there anywhere that I could clean myself up nearby?" he asked.

Alanna thought about the question. She thought there might be a river to the north, or possibly the east...hm.
"Sure, follow me. I saw a river a little while ago...I just have to find it again." she said.
It had been north, she was sure. The western swamp was behind them and she new there was a bunch of little rivers and streams to the north...and east for that matter. Oh, they'd run into something soon.
Her mind wandered as they walked, half an eye kept on Aryon to make sure he didn't collapse again, and she wondered what she could do to help him. It was true that she would do everything she could, but what could she do for amnesia?

When the sound of running water hit his ears, he sighed in relief. The sun had dried out the blood and other things on his face and in his hair and it itched and made his skin crawl in turn.
Huh. Apparently he disliked being dirty. That seemed like a normal thing, but he took comfort in knowing one more thing about himself.
A small river came into view at last and he carefully made his way forward, mindful of the headache that still pounded at his temples. Stepping into the water was a shock, as with the first splash came a fragment of memory.
Thrashing in the water, a head of brown curls was bobbing frantically in the water and the sound of a hawk screeching pierced the air...
He shivered and quickly dunked his head under the water. It stung the cut on his head, but as he shook his hair out under the water he started to feel a bit better.

Alanna waited patiently while Aryon cleansed himself. Her mind was still on what she could do for him other than lead him around and hope to stumble on something that would help.
She was no expert in amnesia, and in fact had never met a victim until today. Before leaving the North, she had had little experience in the real world. Still there was a lack of experience on her part, but there were a few Soquili she had met recently that may be of service...perhaps even. Hm.
"Do you have any idea what you want to do?" she asked Aryon when he emerged from the river.
Best to see if he had any ideas before she suggested a visit to...her.

Aryon shook his body, trying to get rid of the excess water that clung to him. He was careful to not aim any at Alanna, though he thought he might have got her a little by accident.
Walking over to her, he was at a loss for words when she asked her question. What was he supposed to say to that? He frowned and tried to think, but it just made the headache worse.
"...not really..." he mumbled, a lump suddenly in his throat at the thought.

Alanna backpedaled quickly, that had been a stupid question. Of course he had no idea, but it was the first thing she thought of to fill the silence. She was no stranger to silence, but when given the option she always strove to avoid it. You might say she was something of a chatter box.
The only thing she could think of to do however, was take him to see the old hag.
"Hey, it's okay. I have...a plan, kind of." she said with some hesitance. The hag was...unsettling, to say the least.

Aryon looked up and met Alanna's gaze once again. The sun was evaporating the water out of his coat and he shivered a little, but his gaze never wavered.
"What is it? It can't be worse than just standing around..." he said, almost pleading.
It was hard to hold it together when all he had was his own name and some terrifying fragments of memory. He could see that Alanna was unsure about her idea, but anything would be better than the utter blankness that hung in his mind whenever he tried to think of...anything...about himself.
"Please." he added.

Alanna frowned, but relented, "Alright, alright. It's just...there's this mare. She's. How can I put it delicately..." she paused, thinking, "unstable. To say the least."
Thoughts of her encounter with Baba brought a frown to her face. This would technically fulfill the quest she was tasked with. Aryon clearly was not full Unicorn, but she figured the horn was the important part.
"Her...house...is only a few days away from here. I can probably take you there, unless she's moved it again." Alanna mumbled the last part.

Unknowing of the ulterior motive that had entered Alanna's mind, Aryon eagerly agreed.
"Okay, that sounds fine. I can deal with unstable!" he exclaimed.
He was almost prepared for the flash of memory this time.
A hysterical cackle broke the quiet of the evening and he flinched, a feeling of fear crawling up his back like ice...
This time it was with a noticeable gasp that he jerked back to reality, the shiver from before back with a vengeance only this time he wasn't actually cold. A sense of forboding fell over him and he wondered if this was such a good idea after all...but, "If she can help me, it's worth it."
Conviction washed away the ice from the memory fragment and he looked again at Alanna, ready to get moving as soon as possible.

Though the gasp and full body shiver concerned her, Alanna refrained from saying anything. In her experience stallions didn't take kindly to repeated inquiries about their mental state, and really what would he say other than the universal 'fine' reassurance?
"Okay. If you're sure, we can start out now. It's about three days but it's easy land. All plains and forests, but I'm going to warn you right now that when I say 'unstable' I really, really mean it." she cautioned.
Just meeting the hag was a trial in itself, and Aryon was going to ask her for something. She would want something (other than 'hair of a prince') in payment. Hopefully it wouldn't be something that Aryon couldn't pay.
