 It almost irritated Matata that his brother seemed better settled in to the pride than he did. It was also strange that he was thinking of this right now. What a strange thought to just have out of the blue! The light-colored male flicked his tail, leaning over his largest drums and pondering. Today the artisan had dragged his drums over to the oasis area, though he had settled somewhere in the wooded area rather than near the water.
The lion tapped at his drums. Maybe he just hadn't really made friends yet... Hm. That could be his problem. Strange, Matata had always been extroverted. He'd never had issues with making friends before... Maybe he just didn't have any because he was distracted!
Speaking of distractions... He should work a bit on his noise today. Promptly, Matata began thumping away a familiar tune on his drums. Warm up first, new song-making later!

Mirashi had grown annoyed at the noise in the more populated areas of the pride, driving her out into the heat unstead of taking comfort in the ruins somewhere. She preferred the quiet to the heat, so the sun didn't bother her that much. Gathering flowers required her to be out at all times of day, or night in the case of those night-scented flowers, and she would be a poor perfumist if she hated the heat.
Glancing down at the collection of flowers which were beginning to form a near little pile in the pelt she had kept for this exact purpose. She had cleaned the small pelt - likely a hare, or some such thing, she didn't particularly care - until it was perfectly clean, so as to not affect the flower's scents. It was useful, but at times like these, she wished she had a pouch.
Dipping her head, she grasped both sides of the pelt, keeping the flowers in the center. She began to move carefully towards the oasis, remembering a few flowers she wanted to check on. They might not be ready to harvest yet, but it was worth it to check.
So focused on the flowers, she barely noticed the male - or the noise he made - as she moved towards the water where the flowers grew.

Matata first noticed the female while taking a break on beating his drums. At that point, she didn't have too many flowers. Peculiar as he thought it was a lioness collecting flowers, he didn't consider approaching her for a chat, or to ask. She seemed very focused, and all. so he kept on playing a few tunes.
Some time later he stopped, and the lioness had a significantly larger amount of flowers. At this point he decided this was a excellent time to attempt making friends, but, most importantly, find out what this female was doing. So the net time she left her flowers, he abandoned his drums and sat down next to them to wait for her to return. Once she did, he offered her a smile.
"Hello!"
Maybe that was coming on too strong. Or maybe she'd be mad because he was close to her flowers. Uuuhm... Too late now. Hopefully she wasn't too grumpy!

On one of her trips, she had finally noticed the male, but seeing as he didn't seem in a rush to acknowledge her, she didn't bother with calling out a greeting. That was just unnecessary, and a waste of her time. She was pleased to find that the flowers by the oasis had bloomed and she had begun to collect them.
On her way back, he was sitting by her flowers instead of at his spot. She frowned, but a glance down assured her he hadn't sat on her flowers. She nodded her head at him, glancing at him only briefly before stepping fairly close to him in order to drop her flowers in her pile.
"Hello," she said, rather distractedly, now that her mout was free of flowers, leaning down to stare at them, counting and cataloguing the ones she'd found so far. She almost had enough for some of her simpler scents, but simple didn't appeal to her today. She raised her head to stare around them, wondering where she might find some more blooms.

So he was maybe a little disheartened by her apparent lack of interest. Matata liked to think of himself as a likeable people-person, and usually he was quick at making friends. People were also more often than not more friendly with their hellos. But he didn't dare think of this lioness as rude, at least not yet, after all, she did seem to be working.
But he might as well push on now. "So, you seem pretty busy there." He quietly noted this was a reason not to talk to her. Unless... "Can I help you?" There we go! Friendly offers for help were a good way of making friends, right?

Mirashi glanced towards him with a quizzical 'hm' when he spoke, her eyes blinking to gather her thoughts enough to process what he said. Her mind was fixed on her perfumes, so switching from 'perfumes' to 'people' was a bit of an awkward transition for the female.
His comment of her busy earned him a rather blank look, but his offer of assistance drew a curious expression. "Do you know anything about flowers?" She asked, a bit dismissively. She'd had people offer to help before, who only ended up ruining her mixes.

She still didn't seem very welcoming, but Matata wasn't unnerved. "I suppose I don't but I can take orders." Oh my, Matata actually offering to do some sort of work. Someone call the doctor! "I can at least help you gather them faster." That way she would have to make less trips.
He figured picking flowers was easy enough, as long as she told him which flowers to pick.
