It was the day that HITS had let out for Winter break that Raven had slipped her the note. A note for Mary to meet her that Sunday at the park so they could talk and catch up and all that jazz. That of course, was three days ago, and today, Raven was at the park, bundled up in a winter jacket, shivering slightly in the cold.

There were some snowflakes falling from the sky, but they were very light, almost like a sprinkle of them…a dusting if you would.

It made the world seem a bit more…magical.

The blonde held a slightly squishy package in her hand and shook her head. She had worked so hard on this damn present, and it still ended up looking like crap…she just hoped Mary would appreciate the effort that she had put into it.

Really…Mary’s present was the only one she put any effort into. She hadn’t even begun to think about Jett’s Christmas gift yet…but she figured it would end up being something amazing as well.

After the whole debaucle with being a cat, and missing a good amount of school, Mary had locked herself in the library, pouring over her books. She almost missed completely the note. Then it suddenly struck her that it was almost Christmas and she'd bought nothing at all for Raven. She spent the entirety of Saturday searching through whatever stores weren't empty for something to get her. She'd found absolutely nothing.

It wasn't until she went wandering around her grandmother's house that she found something. It was a small ornate little box, dark mahogany overlaid with old silver filigre. It had been tarnished, and still was in the corners where she couldn't get the silver cleaner into it. A small little latch adorned the front of the box, holding it closed. She didn't know what caused her to pick it up (it really could only store small earrings or about five lipbalms in it) but she had immediately thought of Raven at it.

Mary walked into the park, herself bundled in a pea-coat and heavy boots. Her short blonde hair was pinned back over one ear to day, lilac eyes bright with life. She much prefered life as a human; not falling into sandboxes, or getting stepped on, or freezing.

"Raven! Sorry I'm a little late; Grandmother wanted me to pick up some eggs and I got lost one the way home..." she said with a bit of cheek scratching. A hand sat in her pocket, running fingers over the filigre as she waited to give it to her.

She just hoped Raven liked it as much as she thought she would.

Raven gave a smile, tucking some of her long blonde hair behind her ear. “It’s okay, it’s okay. I’ve missed you! You were out of school for like a week, weren’t you? Are you feeling better? I haven’t gotten a chance to ask I was so busy with classes and everything.” The girl reached out and took Mary’s hand, gently pulling her over to a park bench and sitting down on it, not bothering to wipe the small bit of snow off.

“So…I made you something for Christmas, and I really worked hard on it…but it came out looking like crap. But I really hope you like it anyway.”

She looked down at the package in her hand and sighed. She could still back out, right? She could pretend she was joking…and say she found the plush animal in some…junk store?

No…not even a junk store would sell junk of this degree.

With a heavy sigh she held the package out, then scrunched up her eyes. “I’ve taken to calling it Agrabah…but you could call it whatever you wanted…

Inside the package was a plush gryphon that…didn’t look much like a gryphon at all. But, it was the thought that counted. Raven never did say she was one who knew how to sew.

Mary opened the package and moved the tissue paper out of the way. She saw the gryphon, eyes growing wide. Her face flushed, heat surging through her in such a way that made her feel entirely too hot in her heavy jacket. She took the gryphon gently, looking it over, her lilac eyes still full of wonder. Raven had taken to calling it Agrabah? Really?

It seemed to fit the little plush.

She gently put Agrabah back in his box and flung herself at Raven, hugging her tightly. "Oh my gryphons Raven! He's amazing! He's so wonderful! Agrabah really fits him too! Oh thank you so much Raven!" she said, nuzzling the girl's cheek many a time. She took a breath and pressed her lips to her cheek in a kind, thanking kiss and pulled back.

Mary smiled at her and pulled out the little box. "I found this in my grandmother's estate, while doing some cleaning one day. I saw it, and thought of you. I don't really know why, but I did. It can hold earrings or small jewelry." She offered the box to Raven, unsure of how her reaction would be.

Maybe she should have gotten her a stuffed cheerleader? Or maybe pompoms?

The blonde gave a little laugh and blushed slightly at the kiss. Oh. Well, it seemed that Mary really did like the stupid little derpy stuffed animal…that was good. She blinked at the box that the other blonde was holding out, then reached for it, gently running her hand over it.

It was so…so pretty. It would be perfect for some earrings…or her necklace…just something special. She glanced back up at Mary and smiled. “It’s beautiful, Mary! Thank you so much!” Raven’s teal eyes were sparkling now. It seemed that Mary really had put a lot of effort in the gift, and it really did suit her.

It was elegant, and useful, and just…plain beautiful.

Raven leaned over, giving Mary a little kiss on her cheek now, nuzzling her cheek. “You’re a wonderful friend, Mary. Meeting you really made the time up in Space worth it…I’m really glad that you didn’t stay dead…”

That had really made her angry…that was what really made her mind up to despise those stupid White Moon Senshi. They were the cause for all of that crap. Oh well. That was in the past. Everything was better now, and Mary was very much alive. Everyone was alive…and Raven had the power to do what she needed to take care of those stupid senshi.

The kiss to her cheek made Mary freeze for a moment, her face blossoming with red. A million different emotions shot through her at once and pooled somewhere in the middle of her chest. She smiled at Raven, a smile that probably was filled with more emotion than necessary.

"I'm glad you're not dead either Raven... I'm really... really happy to know you." The girl pulled at her fingers for a moment, unsure of how to proceed. She pulled at them a few more times before looking at the other girl again.

"Also... I really... like you, Raven," she said softly. Mary wondered if Raven would get what kind of like she meant, but at the moment, it really didn't matter. She just wanted her to know what she couldn't say on the Surrounding.

Raven just smiled. “I really like you too, Mary. A whole lot. Even if you are really strange sometimes, I think that’s one of the things that I like best about you. You’re not afraid to be different. Not afraid to be…you know. You.”

Mary and Darwin weren’t who Raven would have ever thought of herself being friends with before her time up in space, but now…they were people that she didn’t want to ever think of herself being without. Being back at HITS, being back at a school that made her wear a uniform and do all of that stupid stuff…it would have, should have been so easy just to fall back into her role of being on top. She wanted to be miss popular again, wanted to rule the school…but. It was nice to have friends like this, friends who honestly saw her at her worst, and still adored her for it.

“You’re one of the most important people in my life, you know.”

Her face flushed with heat and she took a sort of shakey breath. Her mind was half a dozen thoughts all at once and she almost felt dizzy. Mary's heart beat hard in her chest and she pulled at her fingers, nervous. Now what? Where would the conversation go from here? It seemed like Raven felt the same way about her as Mary did her, but it could be totally wrong. Or she could be thinking the totally wrong thing entirely. Or. Or.

The movement was rushed, poorly executed. One moment she was sitting calmly on the bench, the next she was half leaned into Raven. Her hair fluttered as she closed the gap and, albeit awkwardly, kissed the other girl, full on the mouth.

Seconds later her brain caught up with her and she started to panic inside. She was kissing Raven. She was kissing her.

Oh this wasn't going to end well at all...

Raven didn’t understand what was going on. One moment, her and Mary were having a nice, normal conversation, the next…

Well…she was locking lips with Mary. This was…an interesting turn of events. It wasn’t a bad kiss, she could admit that much…in fact…it was almost good.

The blonde leaned into it for a moment, letting an arm wrap around Mary’s back, pulling her close for a minute, then she broke away, giving a grin. “You sneaky little girl you. I shouldn’t be doing that though. Honestly, Jett would flip his s**t.”

She laughed then reached up, ruffling Mary’s hair. “I’m going to take that as a sign that you honestly…uh. Like me as more than a friend, eh?” God, such simple terms, like she was in grade school or something. “You’re adorable.”

Mary nodded quietly, still very red and beaming. "Um yes... I do. I know you have Jett, and I know you probably don't feel the same but..." she bite her lip a little and fluffed her shoulders, hugging the plushie in her lap. Well she kissed Raven, and Raven hadn't run her off, so that was good. She knew it probably would never work, and Mary was alright with that. As long as she could stay friends with her, even after this, she'd be just peachy keen.

"I wanna stay friends with you, regardless. I'm okay with you and Jett and stuff, so I'm not going to like try to break you appart or anything. I just... really like being your friend and all. So yeah. " Mary smiled throughout her babbling, hoping Raven would let her stay friends even with knowing Mary felt more than just friends for her.

Raven just shook her head, “Mary, you’re adorable. You really are. I don’t know how I ever survived all this time without you, there’s no way we won’t still be friends. I’d be an idiot if I ever let you go.” She reached over, taking Mary’s hand in hers.

“Friends forever, Mary. We’ve been through a lot, and we’ll go through a lot more, I’m sure of it.” She pulled herself away from the girl, brushing herself off and standing.

“We should be heading out of here…I’m absolutely freezing. But, we need to meet up again soon.” She laughed, then took off, wanting to just get indoors, and get her hands around a nice warm mug of hot chocolate.

The day had been…interesting. At least Mary had liked her present!
