Continued from in thread rp hereWith his usual haphazard driving style, Hunter got both Shea and himself to the grocery store in record time and mostly in one piece. Parking unabashedly at the front of the store in the handicapped section, he got out and opened up Shea’s side of the door for the anteater to jump down. “Come on.” Then he was striding into the supermarket, making a mental list of what was needed, and paying no attention to the customers who were looking somewhat puzzled at there being an anteater in the store.

The anteater followed Hunter obediently, a little bit dizzy from his first ever car ride. He followed the other closely, fur brushing on his legs as much as he could help it. Shea didn't really pay mind to the stares, eyes widening in revelation as they entered the supermarket. His long tongue flicked happily with earnest with the array of things he could so clearly smell with his sensitive nose. But he behaved and merely observed Hunter--for now that is.

First stop: fresh berries.
Hunter’s red gaze occasionally flicked down to the anteater that was sticking loser to his legs, his lips shifting up ever so slightly in amusement. Grabbing up a basket he led the way into the fresh fruit and vegetable section, making a beeline to fridge where the berries sat waiting for him.
Blueberries, strawberries, mulberries, blackberries, cranberries, all berries… delicious and ripe.
The raccoon had no issue with taste testing a handful.

He loved all the Hytes, truly, he did. It was the silent mantra he kept repeating to himself as he clopped around the grocery store to try and find replacements for all the food that had gone 'missing' out of his kitchen at an alarming rate. As if it weren't enough insult that the goods were gone, he had to buy extra from a super market. The nerve! Aulis wasn't sure he'd ever live it down!
With his grey ears tucked against his titanium hair, one could hear the Clyte long before he was seen, sharp hooves making crisp contact with the tiled floor as if to punish the very thing for existing. Though he was used to being looked at for all his noise and appearance, it was the appearance of one other - and his most peculiar looking pet - that gave him pause for a change. Remember, Aulis, you love the Hytes, he told himself, brinking on hysteria to see someone else shopping for mediocre goods for his kitchen.
Twisting his short tail, the Clyte made his way to the vaguely familiar raccoon and the not-in-the-least-bit-familiar anteater, casting the latter a curious glance. "Hunter," he greeted the banded-eyed male, knowing his name even if he couldn't recall if they'd met formally, "fancy meeting you here." Wrinkling his nose, he looked at the berries with stubborn resistance. "Then again, maybe not."

Shea was simply just amazed at the display of fresh food right in front of him, tongue dragging along on the ground as they walked in the section of fruits, the animal sniffing the fresh produce so eagerly. With no hesitation the anteater took one red berry-- and then the blue one and then the darker one. He had no idea what they were called and had no interest to know at the moment, merely smacking his tongue audibly at each time he consumed one delicious fruit.
He stopped for a second when he heard another approach Hunter, relaxing for a moment and tilting his head to the side at the exchange. He looked to the racoon and then to the mule hyte who was much more shorter than Hunter, giving the anteater a more leveled look of his face. In greeting-- and probably also because of the scent of of the younger hyte-- the anteater let his tongue touch the other's arm, dark eyes eyeing him curiously.

Hunter turned his head and gave Aulis a quick once over, before his expression quickly changed to one of complete disinterest. He flicked a blueberry into his mouth. The raccoon had never had much time for the group of servile ‘pony’ Clyte’s. He honestly couldn’t even remember this ones name. Or any of the others. Yet he gave the briefest nod of acknowledgement and smiled in brief amusement as Shea’s tongue slithered out again to check out the Clyte.
Turning away from the scene he began placing punnet after punnet of blueberries into his basket.

At Hunter's rather silent greeting, he chuckled under his breath. Figures. "You know," he continued onwards, heedless of the raccoon's lack of acknowledgement, "there are better places to get blueberries than here. And they'd taste much bet--bet--teerrrr...?"
Aulis stared, and even though he could clearly see the tongue against his bare arm, he thought that maybe if he stared hard enough, it would cease to exist. "...can I...help you?" he asked with as polite of control as he could muster, doing an impressive job of not shrieking like a girl and climbing Hunter's back to get away from the intrusive gesture. "Shouldn't you have a leash on this thing?" he muttered to Hunter.

The anteater stayed close to Hunter, his thick bushy tail brushing against his leg as he continued to survey the stranger in the best way he knew how. He turned his head up to the raccoon and back to the mule hyte, watching them in quiet curiosity and noting that maybe they were not really ...friends? And the meeting confused him, it really did.
When the dark haired hyte addressed the question to him he merely did not move an inch though his tongue still glided lightly on the arm, retreating it when he couldn't really taste much, moving to take one more blueberry that had fallen on the floor. Shea let out a soft sound, head hanging low with Aulis' words though he took a step nearer, liking the scent of food hanging so thickly around the other hyte.
