So far as anyone could say, things had been going well for Remarque. He’d settled into his niche and had adapted rather well into his role in the Dark Mirror Court. It had been difficult at first—there was no denying that—but the more nights he spent out, the more he grew to like being Remarque. Particularly so with his upgrade to Super Sailor Remarque. That little extra power had cemented his satisfaction with this new persona he got to masquerade as, and made all those bruises the knights and scouts had given him very much worth while.

Now, though, it had been a while since he’d bumped into anyone. It wasn’t that he was getting lonely or bored or anything, but when he felt the aura of a Chaos agent that he assumed was from his own Court (though, honestly, he wasn’t entirely sure), he was immediately pulled to it. The worst that came of it was that he bumped into someone he didn’t know, but even then that didn’t seem too awful.

He had been tracking the aura a bit—walking towards it in a lazy manner. He kept his eyes out for anyone that might be willing to donate energy and hang out in Mirror Space for a while, but the pickings seemed slim; it was cold enough that anyone that could avoid being outside was just that.

Thule had been wandering for a while, muttering to herself that whoever designed these stupid outfits didn't have a thought about cold weather and snow and all that! Did they not think that it's possible to freeze in a short skirt! She had however had some luck that she found some kids, probably not that much younger then her dealing drugs down an alley. She had learnt a neat trick from the only senshi she had met since being back on earth and had sat herself down on the edge of the building. That way she could watch them but the chances of them noticing her was pretty low.

She had her mirror shard in her hand and was playing with it. Wondering how it was that she was suppose to take their energy. She knew she could probably just ask Leto but there was something that made her uneasy about it. Leto was one of the original and well she didn't want to go looking bad!

Sitting on the edge of the building she just watched helplessly. She didn't know what she was doing and she was a pathetic excuse for a dark mirror senshi. Why Ares had saved her she would never understand.

When the aura grew stronger, Remarque knew he must be close. He heard voices and directed himself to that, though quickly realized that none of the teenagers in tha alley were responsible for the aura he’d picked up on. He’d done a fair job of staying out of sight, but clearly that wasn’t helping him seek out the aura.

Considering his options—and if it was really worth it to go through so much effort to track this mystery aura down—he decided that the best place to start looking was somewhere with a vantage point. Somewhere high.

He eyed the building closest to him—and with that ladder right there, practically calling to him? It was just so inviting that he sauntered over and started climbing up the rickety metal bars. It wasn’t difficult, and he did a decent enough job of climbing up without making too much noise. He reached the building’s roof and pulled himself up and—jackpot.

Didn’t even have to look that far to find who he was looking for. That she seemed to be DMC was a relief, though he was still a bit skeptical since he couldn’t quite place her from anywhere. She looked familiar, though not as much as any of the ones he’d been paired with in Requiem’s team. He walked across the roof, brushing himself off and treading with a light step until he was only a few feet from the girl perched on the edge of the building.

“…Are you planning on just watching them or were you going to drop in and give them a visit?” he asked, peering over the edge of the building to eye the teens he assumed she’d had her eye on.

She heard him once he was walking towards her, it was a good thing to as it could have been another white moon senshi. She still hid the mirror shard before turning around quickly.

She relaxed instantly.

She recognised him from when they were split into teams but she hadn't seen him since, then again she hadn't seen many of them since.

"There wouldn't be much point. I can't do anything to them." She pulled out her mirror shard and toyed around with it in her hands looking at it in a defeated kind of way.

"I don't suppose you know how to use this thing?" She looked at him hopefully. "I haven't been here for a while, I was out of town and I would feel well stupid asking Leto for help." Which was foolish after all Leto would help her, she was nice enough but Thule felt a little ashamed. After all she could feel his aura and it was as Leto's had been which meant he had already powered up. Had they all powered up? She let out a soft sigh.

"I am Thule by the way, I don't think we have properly met."

Remarque glanced to Thule and gave her a good look over; his nose wrinkled just slightly as he tried to reflect on when they’d met in Mirrorspacce, but the memory was somewhat vague. At the very least, she looked familiar. “I don’t think we’ve properly met, either. Remarque,” he introduced. He didn’t hold out his hand, but instead moved to crouch next to her so he could peer over the edge and watch her prey more comfortably.

His eyes drifted back to her shard. “You don’t know how to use it?” he couldn’t help but prompt. If she’d been out of town, he could understand; Requiem had taught them how to call out the Mirror Wraiths very shortly after they’d gotten back from the Surrounding, so if Thule was gone, it made sense that she might have missed any lessons Leto had offered for her team.

Still, he couldn’t exactly understand why she wouldn’t have gone to Leto and bothered her to find out—it seemed dangerous to be out here and not really know what you were doing. With Leto’s new position as Vice Captain, he assumed she was busy enough already, anyway. “…When Requiem was teaching us,” he started to explain, “We started with some homeless person. He made for an easy target. You sure you want your first target to be a handful of bratty teens? …We could jump down there and knock ‘em around a little if you wanted to soften them up for your wraith. And I’ll show you how to get your wraith out,” he said, nodding towards the shard. “But you have to be careful with it. It’s fragile, so try not to let it get hit.”

Thule looked down on them and nodded. "I figured they would be stoned and not moving in a bit anyway." After all they were dealing drugs. She knew about drugs, she had been one of those down there once but that was another life.

"We can go and find someone else though if you think it would be easier. I tend to just look for those I know will be about and hey maybe if I stared at it long enough I would know what to do with it." She shrugged as she finished speaking and then stood up.

"Homeless people, so around the park area?" She looked in the direction of the park and wondered whether she could try jumping over buildings. "Hey did you know we can like jump off buildings and stuff without being hurt?" That was one of the cool things she had learnt!

Remarque had, perhaps been aware that they could have jumped off of buildings, but it was not something he had given much though to. Most of his time was spent on the ground, thank you very much.

“Park sounds like a good place to start,” he said, nodding as he eyed it in the distance. It was not only his preferred haunt, but had also been where he had first learned to summon a wraith. All things considered, the park had been prime for getting comfortable with his new identity as Remarque, so he figured maybe Thule would have the same luck as he had while settling into his position in the Dark Mirror Court.

It might have been easier if there was a mirror on the roof or something so they could have just mirror walked to the park, but if Thule wanted to try jumping off buildings, he could play that game, too. Especially since he wasn’t the one wearing a skirt that short.

“Go ahead and lead the way,” he gestured, not against letting Thule decide what direction they took to get there. Just as long as they both got there in one piece.

Thule smiled as he agreed and then took off trying to jump over a building. Which went to be fair quite well though she did end up rolling as she landed on the first building. She quite quickly rearranged her clothes and then smiled at Remarque.

"Maybe jumping buildings needs some practice when others aren't around... erm want to go by foot?" She looked a little sheepish but just smiled anyway. There had to be a better way to get to the park other then making a complete embarrassment of yourself at the same time.

"Maybe you should lead the way!"

A smirk tugged on his lips and he couldn’t help but laugh at Thule; he didn’t want to make a fool of himself so wasn’t against the idea of going by foot. He might have to do some practice with jumping buildings so if the occasion ever presented itself he wasn’t rolling over rooftops. “I think I can handle that. Unless.”

There were mirrors set up all over town—he’d passed four, at least, in the past five minutes of walking to seek out Thule’s aura. He had no idea exactly how many were in the park, but he gathered it was a fair few. “You know how to mirrorwalk at least, right?” he prompted, leaning over the edge of the building so he could see just how far a drop it was.

Thule quite happily let him go ahead, or would have if he hadn't gone and asked her another question.

"Well... you have met the girl who knows nothing." She smiled again but in an awkward kind of way. At least she might know something by the end of this meeting but she was well to say a little more educated. Then she might have the guts to actually talk to Leto and the rest of her team. she didn't feel part of the team but then that was her fault and she had no one else to blame.

"I only did the mirror walk thing after the battle at the Surrounding and then out again." Yep that was it.

Once more, Remarque was mildly amused with Thule. “I’m surprised you’ve made it so long, then.” Sure, she’d said she was busy and all, but he almost couldn’t even imagine what life must be like without mirrorwalking. He’d gotten so used to it that it was just second nature.

Thule had a lot to learn, but at least she was eager and seemed in good spirits about it.

Remarque tilted his head just slightly towards the ground to indicated he was done with the high altitude. “All right. Then we’ll just hop through a Mirror. I think I’ll be able to drag you with me so you don’t get lost. Come on,” he said, moving to the edge of the building.

Thule had better be right about them being able to jump off buildings because—God damnit—if he broke his leg right now…

He didn’t give himself time to ponder the thought too much and stepped over the edge.

And it was one ******** rush.

The air flew by him quicker than he expected, and his stomach did at least one flop before his feet collided with the ground. There was warmth on the soles of his feet when he hit the ground and he swayed a bit as he landed in an awkward crouch. But nothing cracked. Nothing hurt.

He stood, relatively pleased with himself (and slightly determined not to let it show) before he glanced to Kestrel. “There’s a mirror half a block that direction we can take to the park, if you’re willing to put up with me for that long. But it’ll be worth it, I promise,” he said with a sort of cocky little wink, regardless of whether or not the distance between them prevented her from seeing it.

Thule just shrugged it was all new to her. Maybe if she had stuck around it wouldn't have been but as it was everything was strange and new. So mirrorwalking was one of those alien things that she just wasn't sure whether it was what it seemed.

She watched as he dropped and smiled as he landed at least he could do it. That meant she could as well right?

She walked off the edge of the building.

The rush really was incredible but as she landed all she was trying to do was make herself look decent while mumbling something about how skirts were a really bad design flaw. She straightened herself out eventually and smiled, yes she was in one piece and maybe he saw more of her then she would have wanted but that was the skirts fault not hers so she would just get on with life.

"Right mirror, lets go."

What he’d seen of Thule certainly pleased him, though he didn’t dwell on the malfunction of skirts and their lack of coverage. He nodded towards the mirror and lead her there without much conversation, though when they actually arrived in front of the full sized mirror, he scratched his chin. “The thing about mirror walking,” he explained as he looked at their reflection, “Is that the first few times, it sucks. Pretty much anywhere with a mirror large enough for you to climb through, you can get through. But this is one of those things that I recommend you practice some in your down time if you’re worried about looking stupid in front of me.”

He glanced to Thule while he spoke and then reached back, taking her hand. “And since I don’t want to lose you along the way, just come with me.” He didn’t give her the chance to object, just walked through the mirror, dragging her with him.

When he stepped out again, they were passing through a more hidden mirror in the park. He knew it wouldn’t have been the first time she had mirror walked—they had been brought to Mirror Space after the battle on the Surrounding—though if she hadn’t been active since then, he still wanted to make sure he wasn’t shaking her around too much.

…It would just be awkward to have to explain to Leto or Requiem or Ares about how he pushed Thule too hard. He wasn’t insensitive to her newness to all of this, so as he dropped her hand, he asked, “You still hanging in there?”

The faint aroma of alcohol told him that they’d probably have their volunteer for energy draining soon, but he hadn’t really given Thule much time for questions, so he figured he’d give her whatever time she needed now before he dragged her to go find and drain whoever they came across first.

So mirrorwalking was that easy? She looked out around the park and just blinked a few times. That felt weird. She took a few deep breaths and then smiled.

"Yep still here."

She looked back at the mirror they had just come through. She looked at the hard surface and marveled over the fact that she had just managed to walk through a mirror.

"That was pretty cool." She smiled at him and decided that maybe she could get use to all this crazy stuff that they had been dragged into.

"Right so... energy collecting?" That was next on the agenda and lets face it once she had this mirror walking and energy collection sorted she would be fine and could then just get on with working.

Remarque flashed her a quick smile and decided it best to get on with this; he was sure neither of them wanted to be out in the cold for any longer than they had to be. “Sure thing. Energy collecting,” he explained as he glanced around for the source of the alcoholic odor, “Gets to be really easy. You get used to it fast and—sans actually finding someone to drain, the wraith does all the work.”

He spotted movement in the corner of his eyes—a small fire flickering. He heard the soft crackle and guttural snoring of the man overseeing the waning flame. The odor of alcohol grew as Remarque approached, though he made sure to keep Thule close. “Your shard,” he said, assuming she’d been given one. He drew out his own, flashed it to her, and then tucked it away. “To summon your wraith is pretty easy, just hold out your shard, focus on it, summon it, all that jazz. Might be a little difficult at first, but you get used to it. Requiem gave us a demonstration a while ago, so…”

His voice drifted off and he turned from the snoring bum to the girl next to him. “Do you want to just give it a go or would you feel more comfortable with a demonstration, first?”
