Sitting in front of the warm fire, Darla was drinking a cup of warm milk. Christmas, her favorite holiday, was drawing closer. She made a mental note to make sure that there were no embers in the fire place on Christmas Eve. The last thing she wanted was for Santa to burn himself while trying to deliver presents, let alone on her stove. That would no doubt automatically put her on his naughty list for that year, and every year afterward. She brought the mug up to her lips and finished the remains of the milk, and placed it on the small table next to her. She'd be able to clean it in the morning. Anyway, it was late, and time to go to bed.
She stood up, and headed upstairs. She was already in her pajamas, so all that was left was to brush her teeth. She did so, and then crawled under her soft down comforter, enjoying the warmth as it trapped heat underneath it, keeping out the cold of the air around her. There was nothing better than a warm bed in the middle of winter. Soon, her eyes closed, and she was asleep.
The rumbling of the ground awoke Darla. Was there an earthquake? She glanced at her clock, which was flashing the time 12:07. So the power had gone off at some point, and come back on seven minutes ago. She sat on the side of the bed, and slid her feet into penguin slippers that were always waiting for her. The wooden floorboards got too cold, and the shock of placing her bare feet on them was unpleasant.
Darla headed to the window, and looked outside. Illuminated only by the lights of street lamps, she could see a many black and white figures moving towards her house. There were twenty one smaller ones, and one large one. The sight reminded her of Ocarina of Time, when she killed six stalchildren, and then one larger one appeared.
She ran downstairs, and grabbed the pokers she used for tending to the fire, her warm winter coat, and one of those knitted hats with braids. Once outside, she glared at her black and white foes. "What do you think you're doing here?" She screamed, before charging at the biggest one, and attempting to stab him.

The attack was successful, though Darla had been aiming for her enemy's chest. Instead, she had managed to put a nice hole through his right shoulder. Unfortunately, her enemy was left handed, and could still wield his monochromatic ax. He was slowed down though, which allowed Darla to get out of the way when he swung at her.
The other members of his army just stared in awe as their leader began to fight a woman in a pink nightgown, a thick parka, and penguin slippers. If they had attacked, Darla knew she'd be finished.
Taking advantage of his wide swing, she stabbed again, hoping to be more successful this time.

Her aim was slightly off again, or the enemy managed to move out of the way, though was a tad too slow. Either way, she missed her mark again, stabbing his leg. Still, after the attack, the enemy looked weaker. Darla was very surprised that none of the neighbors had woken up yet, with all the racket. Wouldn't they be surprised in the morning. Gathering up her strength, she tried to attack again, this time swinging the poker so as to his him in the head.

The successful hit pleased Darla, and she heard the crunching of a skull...or was it metal? Darla really couldn't be too sure. Thinking about such trivial things were for later, when her life was more peaceful again, and this battle was over, which she hoped was soon. Her own strength would start to fade soon. Hopefully this would be over before then. Glaring at the leader, she let out a battle cry, and lunged.
