All in all, it was supposed to be a regular night.

Carnelian, one corrupted senshi, was growing a little braver by the week and sometimes went out on his own to collect energy for the Negaverse. He'd keep those pearly little energy sphere in his coat pockets and flit off into the night to collect a little more before returning to base (with the help of a Captain). He was crossing several streets before finding himself travelling through the park, a playground almost empty in the center. He didn't scan for energy very often, but he did once he landed in the soft sand around the plastic playhouse. It revealed something very interesting...

A senshi, for certain, which made him wince a bit. The corrupt senshi hid behind one bright yellow plastic slide and peeked out, trying to pinpoint the location of the senshi energy. It was definitely senshi but... it was... small? He had no idea what to make of it. The redhead's eyes darted this way and that before they landed upon one particular, peculiar senshi.

...and she was little!

Okay, call the main base. Carnelian was out. Too much adorable. He stuffed his mouth into his hands to muffle the moronic squee that escaped him just then. He loved children, and wanted bazillions of his own with his girlfriend (if she and her uterus were to agree) and look! There was one now! But he would look like too much of a creeper if he just pounced her. He rifled through his coat pockets and found a small satchel of things he'd stolen to give to Euclase - one of which was a small teddy bear. Okay, even creepier, but if things went well then this little one could have the bear and...

Ugh. No matter what he did or thought, it sounded creepy, but dammit... she was so cute! And so Carnelian stood there, behind the yellow plastic slide, fretting and fidgeting about how he could at least give her a hug without looking like a *****.

Oh no. Did she think he was going to hurt her? There would be no way! She was too cute and innocent and oh my god were those watermelons she was decked out in? It reminded him all too much of the daughters he wanted to one day have, to dress up in frilly pink outfits and fawn all over. He didn't care how effeminate that made him - he was one day going to be a daddy! When her voice floated to him, that scared little part of her showing through clearly, Carnelian swallowed. There was a lump in his throat.

Cautiously, the redhead peeked out from behind the obnoxious banana plastic and blinked at her. He prominently displayed both hands, indicating he was unarmed. Had she seen the others? The other Negaverse officers, the ones who carried weaponry? Did she know senshi were on this side of the war too? No matter, the poor thing looked terrified and Carnelian found himself feeling guilty. He was the source.

"Ah, it's okay. You see, I'm not here to hurt anyone." he started, shifting slightly into her field of vision. He walked slowly so as not to startle her with a sudden appearance. He smiled as genuinely as he could manage, though he was sure his aura would still frighten the little one. "My name is Carnelian. What's yours?"

Carnelian practically bluescreen'd right then and there. The introduction was noted, yes, and doubly so, but the rest of it? The little watermelon rind was adorable of course, matching with the melon theme she had going on, but the rest of the conversation was null and void once Chibi Lenka explained she'd been pushed down.

Now Someone Had Gone Too Far and Carnelian was not going to take this lightly. Overcome with the sudden need to hug all that pain away, green eyes went wide and he dropped to one knee, on par in height with the chibi senshi. Oh, excuse him, super chibi senshi. "Pushed you? Who pushed you? Did you get their names? What did they look like?" Anger flashed in his eyes not unlike a parent whose child had been hurt. Sure, the corrupted senshi was, well, corrupt, but that was no excuse to not feel remorse for his fellow Nega's actions! Whoever shoved a chibi would forever be blacklisted from his salon, among other things.

"Are you hurt? How could they do such a thing?" his voice carried, trying to keep his frustration in check. Carnelian kept his distance from the little one for now, but tried to show her he meant no harm. They were practically the same! Sort of. Sure, they were on different sides, but still senshi! "When I get my hands on whoever did this... pushing children, of all the cowardly..."

Okay, Carnelian couldn't take it anymore. He was had when the little one admitted someone had tried to break her arm. He didn't recognize any of the names she'd mentioned, but now that he knew them, Carnelian would have to at least slap them around fiercely for hurting a child. She was just a child! An adorable one at that, with manners and adorable hair and adorable little senshi outfit...

Against his better judgment, the redhead bent over and scooped up the little senshi, balancing her on his hip. God it was like he was made for fatherhood oh my god. He would have to gush to Euclase later on. They simply had to have children someday. "Now don't you worry - you have a promise from me that I won't be hurting you or any other little ones that happen to be in this battle. It isn't fair and it isn't right. And besides!" He delicately touched her nose and smiled. "You're too cute! Whoever those people are, I'll have to find them and show them what for."

God if it wasn't illegal just to take her home and feed her cake... sad

Dear god why couldn't she just clone herself. Carnelian about wibbled into a pile of goo when she wiggled her finger at him. So precious!

He set little Lenka down and placed a hand over his heart (or really, the hole where it used to be, or something - he was still figuring that part out) and raised his right hand. "I do solemnly swear not to hurt any little ones, you especially. I find myself mortified at the thought of you coming after me. I'd never stand a chance!" With a dramatic sigh and the back of one hand against his forehead, Carnelian pretended to faint and landed softly on the plastic slide. "You're simply too powerful, little Lenka. I can hardly stomach the thought."

Really all he'd want to do is go to her parents and plead with them to allow him to adopt her but... It would never work out, sadly enough. He loved her too much to ask her to turn to their side and become enlightened. What was childhood but a flight of whimsy? Surely she'd see the light when she grew older. But for her, Carnelian vowed to watch out for her, at least at a distance. "I'll keep my toes on the correct side of the line, you'll see." Of course, with his duties to the Negaverse, she may find fault with him. In actuality hardly anyone was ever hurt - Carnelian made sure of it.

"You're too precious." he said, placing a tender hand on her head. "But you go home and get some rest. Sleep well, alright Lenka? I promise to go home and be good. Maybe I'll even watch a movie or something, how's about that?"

He sincerely hoped they'd never have to meet in battle. Carnelian couldn't bring himself to attack a child, much less one on the opposite side of the war. Who could do such a thing? It was heinous to even think about much less execute. The corrupted senshi hoped beyond hope that one day, chibi senshi could be their allies if taking them out of the war entirely wasn't a possibility. Children didn't belong in war. They belonged at home, with their parents, safe in their beds.

"I'll do my best not to disappoint you, Lenka. Have a good evening~" And with that, he walked leisurely off into the night to go home and do what he was told.
