Oh, the beach.

The beach, the beach, the beach.

With it's large rock formations scattered near and far, waves of salted water rising up to meet with her bare feet. She had found herself wandering nearer to it more and more after her first visit; mostly sitting near the edge where sea foam gathered to stare out in thought.

And Minerva had been doing a whole lot of thinking as of late. It was bound to be the case after her fiasco with Bix; the thought of him and the ocean and just how close they had gotten sending chills down her spine. And not necessarily the good kind of chills, just the..Oh god that almost happened sort, and maybe the Should I have gone for it? It was hard to believe that she may have truly wanted it, the kiss that he seemed so willing to give. It was even more difficult to try and convince herself that he wasn't fully under the influence of those blasted cookies and that he TOO wanted the embrace..

"Uuuuugh." She moaned, standing on a rock which was a few paces out to sea; tossing sand and stones into the lagoons just below her boots. They had only just met prior to the beach-outing. It was impossible for the two of them to have any kind of feelings for one another without the help of those.. sweets.

She had been trying to get him off of her mind, to get rid of the whole memory in its entirety; but the call of seagulls echoed through the facility walls, and every morning as she went out for a jog the air was thick with the smell of water. She couldn't escape it even if she tried. So she would continue to visit the beach with questions, hoping that with time the answers she filled in would just be accepted as the truth.

Gale had never actually been to the beach in all the time he had spent at Deus Ex. An oversight, perhaps, but he had never really been a fan of swimming (he found it tiresome and overrated), and all of the beaches he had been too had always been overcrowded and much too busy for his liking.

Yet for some reason, this time he found himself wandering out across the sand, his pant legs rolled up so that he was walking in his bare feet, dressed in only a teeshirt and a light jacket. He was not in uniform; after all, he did not need to be, and though it was relatively cool outside, he was not really cold. Gale was hoping for a bit of time to think to himself, perhaps, a few moments of quiet solitude.

Except apparently that wasn't going to happen, since there was clearly someone else on the beach when Gale rounded the corner, his eyes falling on a figure poised on an outcropping of rock several feet into the ocean. It took him a few moments to identify her, his eyes narrowing just the slightest as he scrutinized the unfamiliar form at first.

"Ah," he said calmly, stepping up behind her and peering up at the woman, water sloshing around his feet.

"You're one of the hatchlings, aren't you? Minerva, like from Harry Potter."

Minerva nearly jumped straight out of her boots at the sound of his voice; the surprise that lingered in her eyes only widening them when the familiar strands of blond was what she turned to face. A smile crept across her lips politely, but it also served to conceal the worries that plagued her mind. "Gale!" She was convincingly chipper for being somewhat distracted, bending her knees to greet him with a wave. "Yup, Minerva! Although not nearly as cool as professor McGonagall. I'm glad you remembered!" His comment made her giggle and shrug a shoulder, nodding while she replied to it accordingly.

Well! She wasn't expecting company! Especially not with all of the festivities going on and the shopping trips some of the others had been planning/taking. In fact, Minnie honestly didn't expect to see anyone around the facility for as long as the portals were available to them. They all needed their breaks from this reality.

It was nice to have his company though. Gale would be as good of a distraction as any! Plus, she could listen to that adorable accent of his all day. (In fact, ever since they first met she had been wanting to! Oh the accents!) The woman climbed down from her rock to stand at nearly eye-level with him, her smile still fixed in place. "Are you out here for a swim or just a walk?" Or maybe to think? All three?

"I have a good memory, Professor," replied Gale absently, his eyes moving out along the shoreline of the water. He could feel the cold ocean sloshing around his bare feet and ankles, and it smelled of salt and sea - a scent that was only vaguely familiar to Gale.

He didn't mention that he knew her from elsewhere, not just from the classrooms. Gale was quite aware that Minerva was that girl - the one Bix had talked about. Despite the fact that Gale did not have a great deal of friends, the one person to whom he was closest was the white haired, goofy attitude-ed, mildly ridiculous and girl crazy Ferdinand - aka Bix.

Gale had not meant to run across Minerva, but now that he was here, he was a little curious.

He said none of this, however, instead letting his shoulders rise and fall casually.

"Not a fan of swimming," answered Gale, as he swiveled his head back to face Minerva. "Not really my thing, see. A walk, yes, just to clear my head."

His eyes flickered upwards. "But what about you? What brings you here?"

Another one who didn't like swimming? Well then! Her arms crossed just below her bosom as she turned to face the ocean. "Ahh, well I guess I'm not surprised by that." Perhaps there were a lot of individuals here who didn't fancy the water. It was bound to happen with all of the different people their superiors had rounded up!.. but Bix was the only one she had met thus far, and so that was where her mind was trailing. Again.

"Walking along the shore is just as fun I suppose! I hope whatever you're trying to clear up hasn't been weighing you down for too long. You'd think with all of the holiday cheer and festivities that there wouldn't be anything to worry about." Her shoulders shrugged again, a sigh escaping from her heavily. It was a nice thought, but Christmas was just another day filled with responsibilities that they all had to tend to; especially now.

When Gale posed his own question of her, Minerva stiffened slightly. "Me?" Hazel eyes flicked to the side briefly, her lip bitten in thought; the woman almost seemed surprised that he would ask! Minnie obviously understood the need to get away but wasn't sure if she wanted to explain all of the reasons why to Gale. Did he really want to know? Gossip surely spread like wildfire in the facility, what if what she would say would get out? She didn't want to be the center of attention, and she certainly didn't want to deal with what drama might come if others knew of her turmoil. Minerva spent a long moment contemplating her options before dropping her head--nose facing the boots that fidgeted nervously.

"Same as you. Just.. clearing my head."

"I've never found the sensation of cold water against my skin all that pleasant," said Gale with a shrug, rocking back on his heels. "I suppose that might seem a little odd, but, then again, I suppose I'm not really all that normal as it is."

He managed to give Minerva a wry look, almost a smile as he stepped towards the rock she was sitting on, absently kicking his foot against the cold object.

"Life worries me," he replied lightly. A few strands of his hair had broken free from the tie, and were now whipping about his face. Gale pushed them back, pressing them back into the ponytail the blonde locks were wound up in, and resumed his attempts at conversation. Carefully he lifted his hands, climbing up the rock so that he would no longer be standing below her.

"We all need to clear our heads at some point," he said, crouching down and idly swirling his finger in a shallow pool of water at the center of the indented rock. Without lifting his head, he asked calmly "That clearing wouldn't have anything to do with Bix, would it?"

He raised his gaze, his expression unreadable, before turning back to the water.

"And before you say anything, I found out from Bix, no one else. It's not like I have a lot of people to talk to around here, and Bix is one of my best mates."

There was a slight pause.

"Well. My only best mate."

Minerva gave the boy a look. It was long, heavy with color, and yet lacked the amount of surprise it should have. (perhaps due to the joy? Who knows) In a way, deep within her mind, the trainee was glad Bix had told Gale. For what reason the albino man had for sharing, the fact was still just that. He had shared. And whether it was for the good of their 'friendship' or the for the bad, Gale was interested in hearing the other side of the story. At least, that was what the trainee could gather. Why else bring it up.. Her hands shuffled with one another suddenly, wiping off the debris which had clung to the palms before shifting her gaze elsewhere.

"I see." She would have said more, but a lingering possessiveness at the end of Gales statement left the woman silent. What should she say? What did he WANT to hear? She didn't want to apologize because she hadn't done anything wrong, and Gale didn't seem to want any sorries. She didn't know if she should pry into what was said, since.. well she wouldn't want to be shot down by the bros-before-hoes code. So instead she made a popping sound with her lips and cleared her throat, repeating herself for the most part.

"I see, interesting!"

He supposed if he were "normal," back at home in London, he might have squirmed under the long look Minerva gave him, clearly with several emotions all filled into it - but as it was, he merely stood there with his hands in his pockets, idly kicking the toe of one boot into the wet rock he stood on. He hadn't known what to think about Bix's little...entanglement, so to speak, with Minerva, mostly because he did not know the trainee that well.

And, well, he supposed he might have felt...slightly awkward. Bix was his best mate, which meant that if he got a girlfriend, that would make things just that much lonelier on his end of things.

Not lonelier, Gale corrected himself internally. I do not get lonely without Bix.

<< Believe what you want to believe, mister. >>

Hush, you.

Gale slanted a gaze at Minerva now, cocking one eyebrow in an expression of dry amusement.

"You're not going to tell me, now, are you? After all, I am prying."

It was hard not to let Gale's calm demeanor get to her. "Uhh.." Because he just had to know more than he was letting on, right? He was just teasing her, right?! "Well.. " Her hazel eyes rolled away from his, looking out over the sea and rising up to the sky, falling again to meet with the ocean that crashed against pillars of rocks in the distance. Minerva was usually never this flustered, not under circumstances such as these.. but then again, Minerva had never been questioned about something such as this. The woman very rarely found time for boys back home, and NEVER acted the way she had with Bix. The joy that ran through her was unnatural, and while she felt as if something was off all along, the trainee couldn't deny the enjoyment she had gotten out of the time she spent with the albino hunter.

Blythe yelled as if to answer for the trainee, repeating herself before falling eerily silent. The words were about to slip out from her lips just as the weapon had growled them, but instead Minnie plunged the edge of a finger into her mouth and began to chew.

And in between those chews, she murmured. "That.. depends.. What exactly are you looking to hear?"
