Whenever Aithne left places (for example, the Mercenary Headquarters), at utterly insane hours of the night (cue glare at Pollux) she'd taken to walking back in her senshi form. If she'd learned anything these past few weeks it was this. Exposing your identity was giving someone major leverage and powered and otherwise unnatural things liked to prowl around Destiny City at night.

Crux was aware of something. She wasn't sure what it was, but it sent a sinister tingle down her spine. Looking left, she saw nothing. She looked to the right. In an alley, she could make out the silhouette of two figures. A man, a girl and lots of bad vibes. She saw the girl slump. Ah, suddenly Crux thought of the night outside DCU library. Was this energy sucking? She watched. The girl didn't seem to be in immediate danger. Though there was a sinister aura in the air, it was a weak one. If Crux was to trust her gut, it said that this was no biggie. It wasn't her responsibility to intervene every time some person decided to wander around at night. They knew the risks. They took them. If something had happened along the way...well, it wasn't her responsibility either way. She shifted, must have brought her foot unwittingly down upon a twig because there was a resounding snap.

The man's head shot up. He looked around trying to find the source of the noise. Crux tensed. He gave up, withdrawing into the shadows where her eyes could not follow. The girl seemed fine, she was still leaning against the wall.

No harm done. Crux moved on. She could almost feel the softness of her bed, of the down comforter and soft quilt rising up to meet her.

User Image ((I can't recall whether we decide 100% if you wanted her to show off her Princess-self or not mid scolding. If so just lemme know XD ))

Some nights she depended only on listening to the city. Screams, growls, the clatter and crash of quick and careless movement. They were all hints that something was amiss.

But sometimes the sounds led to nothing at all, or sometimes the nights remained silent and still with the shadows obscuring and protecting the evil that roamed within. On nights like that, however, one could always rely on the basics. And the more you practiced those basics the easier it got to find them and decipher them. The soft subtle differences of a knight versus a senshi. Of a super senshi versus an eternal one.

Having been looking for chaotic energy in particular, Polaris had felt the negaverse officer first. It wasn't actually until she was almost upon the darker energy that she suddenly noticed the lighter one nearby, her eyes searching for the source.

She could barely make out the scene from the distance, way too far back to take any good shot at the solider in the shadows, so her eyes turned expectantly towards the ally that was closer.

There was a soft snap, and she waited for the sound of an attack to be called. But there was no attack. The shadow and it's aura was retreating, and surprisingly... the senshi didn't appear to be following..? Maybe she/he was more concerned about the civilian?

Polaris' breath nearly caught in her chest as the senshi began to just.. walk off. Maybe... she was mistaken? But it really looked liked that senshi hadn't tried to interfere at all. And they weren't even going to check on whoever was being attacked either?

Her brows knitted, a soft frown of disapproval crossing her features. She was kind of far back, she should have given the other senshi the benefit of the doubt until she knew for sure, but it wasn't the first or last time the senshi of magnetism would jump to conclusions.

"Hey!" She called out as she braced the distance between them for the most part. An ivory gloved hand waved through the air, as if the action would wave down the other senshi even from behind his or her back.

She imagined it in her mind: soft down comforter, a warm cotton blanket, plush pillows and the smell of clean linen. Crux could imagine sinking into her bed, could hear the creak of her bones so worn and tired, could imagine never getting up again. She was tired, tired and grumpy.

The sudden call made her tense. What if the negaverse agent had not truly left? Had they felt her presence, had they known she was there, had they set a trap to catch her? An inward groan, she didn't want to fight. Crux wanted to sleep. Her mind raced through all the possible scenarios, that when she turned around, ready for a fight, it was almost more of a shock to see the senshi.

Crux turned slightly. She was looking back at the senshi who had flagged her down. In the dim light, she was aware of the bared thighs, stomach and shoulders. If the senshi was cold, she gave no indication of it. Her face had an apathetic almost stern expression. Whoever was calling her out at this hour better have something worthwhile to say, to be keeping Crux from her rest.

[ I think we decided that she didn't have to go Princess, but we can see where the RP leads! 'v' ]

Though she turned around a little, the other senshi made no attempt to say anything. No greeting... not even a grunt to acknowledge her exsistance other than the mild pivoting. Flabbergasted was a pretty good definition of what the senshi of magnetism was feeling right now.. uncertain about what exactly was happening, annoyed at the lack of polite greeting. Perhaps that's why a hand ended up hitching on her hip, her tone a little more frigid then her usual chipper one.

"Aren't you going to go check on that person..?"

"That Lt is gone.. if that's what you're worried about." It was possible the senshi wasn't that brave... and if that was the case well. Polaris couldn't berate her, only attempt to try and help her overcome it.

Immediately, Crux scowled. The hand on her hip, the icy tone that implied seniority. She didn't really like the way the other senshi spoke to her, as if she were more powerful and higher. She didn't like the way her body language seemed to imply that Crux had done something wrong. Last she checked, there was no one assigned to baby-sit her, nor watch over her every action. And she certainly didn't like the accusation of cowardice that girl seemed to be imply. If there was anything Crux hated more than being talked down to, it was being called a coward.

"She's still standing and still alive. What else is there to 'check on'?"

Her tone was harsh and cold, retaining the touch of tired apathy. Whoever this girl was, her tone and manner irked Crux, and the senshi had lost her patience long before this encounter. Turning her head, Crux was ready to walk away. The night was stretching on too long for her.

S.. Seriously? Maybe it'd just been awhile since she'd run into someone who seemed so.. totally uninterested... but Polaris was totally flabbergasted by the apparent lack of care. Especially after what had happened not long ago in the Surrounding.

She'd seen scared before sure.. even some negaverse soliders seemed to care more and drown her in misguided dribble. But the sheer apathy. The senshi of magnetism was literally speechless for a few seconds when the other senshi turned again.

Maybe the other senshi was just having a bad day? Or maybe she really was just a horses a**?

"You DO realize that the whole reason we're here is for them right?" Her voice was perhaps a bit shriller then she'd have liked when speech finally returned to her. Her hand motioned quickly towards the girl, who was regaining her composure and likely preparing to hurry home and to safety. It was likely either of the girl or the senshi saw the motioning, but it didn't stop Polaris, taking a few steps to follow Crux.

"They can't necessarily fight for themselves, so it's our jobs to step in when it's necessary."

"I saw the whole thing. You didn't even TRY to look. How do you know she's not wounded? I've seen people with near fatal knife wounds stumble around."

"I mean granted she might end up just screaming and wanting you to go away but it's your job to at least check." Had Crux done anything really wrong? No. Maybe? It was subjective. But was Sailor Polaris more than happy to nag the poor girl's ear off. Why yes. Yes she was.

Polaris had strong views, and while she was lenient enough to listen and hear out opinions on other things.. the war.. the negaverse.. purification vs killing.. chibis. But not with civilians, oh no. How could a senshi not feel obligated to help innocent civilians?

"And why should I look?" Crux asked. She had to resist the urge to bring her hand to her hip. Instead, the senshi shifted her weight to the left.

"DO you see any blood? Even I can tell it was just a energy-draining thing. And even if she had been hurt, it isn't my job to do anything. I don't remember being given conditions upon being awoken."

There were certain types of people that Aithne disliked. On the top of the list might be ones like this senshi. People who suffered from some kind of hero syndrome, who sat atop a moral high horse. Self-righteousness wasn't a trait that she liked.

"If you want to run around making everyone's business your own, then go ahead. If it makes you feel better sticking your nose into every situation, if it gives you a feeling of righteousness, then go ahead."

Crux raised her hand and rubbed the back of her neck. Maybe she should just leave it at that and leave. It was getting later and later and the girl was getting colder and crankier by the minute. "In the end, you're just following your own pretty little ideals."

If this girl really wanted to protect civilians, then she should, in Crux's opinion, be out hunting Negaverse agents and youma, not coddling every single "injured" person she saw, and certainly not walking around ragging on other people.

It was pretty unfortunate for Crux, on a night when she was already tired and perhaps a little annoyed, that she would run into one of the "king daddies" of self righteousness.

Every ounce of logic and decency should have prevented her from acting like such a child over this. She should have known better then to try and force her own ideals on someone else, or to try and brow beat them because of their thoughts.

But the words being spoken were so foreign to her. So pointed and against everything she believed. It was no denying that Polaris was human herself, a person with flaws like any other. And in that moment of complete confusion and frusteration something happened.

A burst of light, a surge of energy. At first Crux might have thought that the other girl had dehenshined for some reason. But in fact it was something quite opposite. Angelic wings flapped once in quiet irritation, her dress billowing in the light night wind. Even if Crux knew nothing of princesses it would be quite evident that something more than Polaris' appearance had changed.

The tight lipped frown and look of disappointment on her face was hardly welcoming either.

It sounded just like arguements she had with negaverse agents from time to time. How could the words possibly be coming out of a senshi? Not even those dark ones, but out of one of her own kind? She couldn't even fathom how someone with the powers and duty or a senshi couldn't feel obligation and desire to help.

"Why should you look? Why?"

"Out of decency and general concern for your fellow man."

"I'm more confused as to how you could possibly think that caring about other people is a bad ideal? There may not have been a handbook.. but I'd hope that all senshi would atleast follow the things they teach you in kindergarten."

"Treat others in a way you'd like to be treated."

Where before there had been indignation and attitude Polaris' posture slowly shifted and changed, her hands lifting to rest against her chest, solemness touching her face.

"People believed in you at one point. Because they knew you were something special and worthwhile. They gave you the power to protect them all. Even now the stars still give you their power and believe in you."

"How can you not feel the duty to repay them? To be everything that this world needs? I know that we can win. Goodness and light will always win in the end. But it's a win that is far off if those fighting don't even care enough to give it their all."

Sap, pure and unadulterated. Ecspecially considering the sincerity in the princess' expression.

Light suddenly burst from Polaris' chest, so bright that Crux had to look away for a moment. She felt the power surge over her, crawl across her arms. When the light faded and Crux could look back, the midriff-baring Sailor had been replaced by a different girl. No. Not a different girl, the same girl. Just in a different dress.

There was a stern expression on her face, one that made Aithne think of a mother about to lecture a child on his mistakes. Though in this scenario, she supposed the expression on Polaris' face was one of a child who's naive beliefs had been called into question.

Crux did not mind listening to Polaris' lecture in part because she did not feel chastised at all. It was obviously the girl's intention but she did not have the patience to argue out the specifics of the other's claims. They could go on and on about that, each arguing their own points. Crux knew that they would never see eye-to-eye.

But if the lecture on "general concern" and "kindergarten vitue" didn't touch a nerve, Polaris' declarations of duty certainly did. Crux did not know much about her past life. But she knew one thing for sure.

"I didn't ask for this!"

She said louder than she wished. The declaration echoed through against the brick walls. She took a breath. She hadn't meant to say that. Luckily, Polaris went on to blab about goodness and light, something that Crux certainly could argue about. She redirected the conversation away from herself.

"Goodness and light? Are you joking? Do you think you can win this war by virtue of morals alone? Do you honestly think that if you rescue these random civilians that you will win this war? Do you think wars are won like that?"

Crux looked straight into the Princess' eyes.

"Are you winning?"

She asked quietly, a question that both knew the answer to.
