With winter approaching in the next couple of weeks, the weather was starting to reflect the season with the bitter colds, the heavy winds and snow. It made leaving the HQ extremely unpleasant, so most of the Rockets usually stuck to the comfortable warm indoors unless their duties called them outdoors for another reason.
This wasn't true for all Rockets of coarse, Some of them rather liked being out and away from the HQ at times. The Grunt known best as Jerome was one of those individuals. This ex-gangster had a hard enough time staying inside the building, as big as it was, let alone a long flat desert. It drove him partly nuts, and even a bit paranoid and jumpy.
The Rockets in charge of lending out the SUV's had gotten to know him pretty well, since he always left by vehicle, clearly not owning a pokemon that would be able to fly him over to wherever it was that he visited so often. Though... This time was a little different, While Jerome had certainty left the garage with an SUV... the heavily tattooed man returned thought one of the side doors, on foot... and it looked as if he had been walking for quite a while, with as much sand and how blown the half of his head with dreadlocks looked.
Black inked eyes surrounding the light brown of his iris scanned the work shop as his strong hand slammed closed the door to the outside behind him, showing his hands back into the pocket of his jacket, the dark man strode around the fence, and the counter toward where the rockets were working on various vehicles.

A series of colorful epithets echoed through the garage as one grunt wrestled with a tire on one of the ATVs. His purple clothing was smeared with grease as were his hands, and his similarly colored hat was turned backwards to ensure it didn't block any light. Draped over the seat of the ATV, his white vaporeon watched its trainer work, curious and intrigued not only by the colorful language coming from his creator's mouth but also by how much trouble he was having performing what seemed like it should be an easy fix. And it would have been had someone - and if Roar found out who, he was going to beat him to within an inch of his life with his wrench - not bent the axle. As it was, Roar needed to remove the tire in order to bang the axle back into its proper shape, if not replace it entirely, but therein was the problem: getting the tire off in the first place. He was so ensconced in that supposed-to-be simple task that he didn't notice the new arrival to the garage at first.

Jerome didn't know anyone in this room, but it was just as well, the chances of him actually remembering any of them by name would have been pretty slim anyway. But, Jerome didn't need to know any of them to get ones attention, so, he walked over to the first person he could see. It happened to be a man half buried in some other vehicle.
A deep calm voice spoke up to get the guys attention. "Hey." He said, bluntly, arms crossed over his chest. "You work in here yeah?" He knew the answer to that obviously.
From on the ground, where the shadow of the man was being cast, a pare of glowing green eyes blinked up from the darkness, and at the Vaporeon sitting in the ATV.

With one last swear, Roar finally managed to pry the tire off of the ATV. Only then did he look over his shoulder and up to whoever was addressing him. He didn't recognize the other grunt, but that wasn't surprising - Roar didn't really socialize much outside the workshop. "Yeah? he answered. "Need somethin'?" Normally, he'd tell him to go find someone else who wasn't busy, but Roar really didn't want to tackle the bent axle if he could help it - whatever this guy needed had to be better than that.
Petra stared at the eyes in the man's shadow, and every last strand of fur on his back stands on end as he curls up into a tighter ball on the ATV's seat, wide, iridescent eyes not leaving the shadow.

Jerome certainly didn't look like the type of person that would take to kindly to being told to find someone else anyway, not when everything about him screamed street gang banger... or 'Demon'
Though, for now he looked calm enough, eying the younger man a moment before he lifted a gloved hand. "Killed the SUV in the desert, can't get it to start." He told the mechanic, as casually as if he was informing Roar that the weather was cold outside.
Jerome was bundled up more then usual, Full jacket, with hood, and a beany covering his interesting hair style. If he was able to feel his lips, me might have been absently playing with the stud in his lower lip around what at first glanced looked like a goatee, when in fact it was a tattoo on his chin. Even just from being able to see the mans face, it was clear he had no lack of ink on his skin... or eyes.
From the shadow looking at the Vaporeon, a wide white toothy grin stretched underneath the eyes, to an uncomfortable length, only long enough to present a moments discomfort, and then the eyes and mouth suddenly closed again, and all that was left was Jerome's shadow. Though, it could be sworn that a light cackle was coming from the darkness.

"Killed it?" Roar pushed himself to his feet and grabbed his shop rag from his shoulder to wipe off his hands as he turned to face Jerome better. Ugh - why would someone do that to himself? Roar could only imagine how terrible those tattoos were going to look when Jerome was in his sixties or seventies with his skin starting to sag. A tattoo here and there was fine and dandy, but that was overkill. Once Roar got over that part of looking over the new Rocket, he realized all that padding meant it was freezing outside. Roar hated the cold - it reminded him too much of when he and his twin had to live on the streets. Still...it was preferable to the bent axle. "If it's the one I'm thinkin' of, it was due fer an oil change a while back. How far back did it break down?"
Petra squeaked and tried to get himself higher on the ATV's seat, as far from the ground as he could get without climbing onto his trainer. Roar tended to get testy when he did that.

Jerome Shrugged lightly again, seeing not to be to concerned with why it had stopped, but he couldn't just leave it there. He didn't even really seem that annoyed that no one bothered to tell him of the potential problem when they have assigned him that vehicle. "Good walk from here, you got some pokemon to fly or somethin' or one of these other cars." He said, glancing around.
Jerome would have been amused by rumble's opinion, more so on the idea that Jerome was going to live past his 40s That's one thing you get used to pretty quick when you join a gang like ET-14, in the end, you either end up dead, or life in prison. You get no other options. And roar could only see the ones Jerome had on his face, wait till he saw the ones over the rest of his body.
Light brown iris slid over the Vaporeon with the mechanic, and the way it was behaving. Probably something that Bro was doing to mess with it.

"Yeah, we can take the Jeep. Lemme grab my tools." Roar made sure his hands were as clean as they were going to get before he started over to his workstation to grab his jacket. His hands kind of stayed grease-stained anyway, but that didn't mean he liked getting grease stains on his jacket. Once he had that on, he quickly assembled the tools he thought he would need as well as a few replacement parts. If it was the SUV he was thinking of, he was probably going to have to completely replace the filters, a few of the gears, and maybe even the fuel injector just to get it started up long enough to get back to HQ. Not exactly his idea of a fun afternoon in the snow and ice...but it was still better than that bent axle.
Once Roar thought he had everything, he jerked a thumb toward the Rocket Jeep he was licensed to use and climbed in. "Let's go." Petra bolted after him and settled in the back seat, not wanting to be left alone in the garage after what he just saw. "Was it makin' any kinda funny noises before it quit?" Roar asked. "Might help me narrow down the problem before we get there."

"Not really." Jerome replied as he got into the passenger seat, closing the door and with out buckling his seat belt leaned back with his elbow up against the window frame. "Hn.. well D'no really. Bro' had the music up pretty loud. was driving a big sluggish though before it went down."
It didn't seem to be pretty helpful, but either this guy didn't know much in the way of mechanics, or he was just one that didn't elaborate much on anything. Considering his constant chill demeanor, it could very well be that he just didn't always share things verbally.
As they pulled out into the cold though, the gangster glanced over his shoulder at the back seat, and the Vaporeon sitting in it. "... Pretty fancy 'mon you got back there." He noted.

Roar bit back a frustrated sigh and just nodded. "Hopefully, it's an easy fix." With that, he concentrated on driving through the snow, careful not to slide on the less than safe roads. The last thing they needed was a second stranded vehicle. When Jerome mentioned Petra, Roar glanced to his vaporeon in the rear-view mirror. Petra was the one Pokémon he let stay out of his ball almost all the time. It took every last bit of his savings to get Petra made, and as far as Roar was concerned, it was worth it. Petra may not have been the strongest of Roar's team, but he still had a special place and always would in Roar's mind. "Thanks. He was a genetic custom."
Roar squinted into the snow, worried he might pass the broken down jeep, but he was relieved when he saw it and slowly pulled over to the shoulder behind it. He reached back to the back seat to find his tool kit and give Petra's head an appreciative scratch when the vaporeon already had Roar's headlamp in his mouth to pass to him.

"Genetic custom?" Her voiced, sounding a little puzzled by what the hell the other grunt meant by that. just a bunch of fancy words to him really. "S'that mean exactly?"
He kept his eyes peeled for the vehicle as well, even though he remained relaxed back int he passenger side seat. Once they pulled up to it Jerome opened his door, and stepped out while Roar reached back to get his tools.
The ex-gangster walked out toward the SUV, pausing in front of it while dark, inked eyes scanned the gleaming black hood, before he shifted and glanced over for Roar. "What you need me to do?" he had no idea how to fix a car, didn't mean he wasn't going to just stand around and do nothing.
Bro' seemed to be a little more willing to venture out of Jerome's shadow now. The half glowing Gengar floating out behind Jerome with his stubby arms crossed, jagged ears perked up high on his head. Whenever he was hiding in a shadow, the temperature seemed to always drop a few degrees, and when Jerome was out in a cold winder day, it didn't seem very cool to Bro to just make his bud any colder.

"It means I saved up and paid the squints in the genetics labs ta make me a Pokémon from the DNA up," Roar answered. Rather than just stealing or otherwise being granted a Pokémon, Roar wanted one that was truly his, so he paid to make Petra.
Roar positioned the lamp on his head and turned it on then made sure his tools were secure around his waist before he stepped out and made his way to the SUV. "Pop the hood." Once Jerome did that, Roar started looking around at the vehicle's internals, frowning. Nothing looked too out of place just yet, but he shifted a few times to look at different angles, searching for anything out of place. "Will anythin' work? Do the headlights or anythin' inside turn on, or is it just the engine?" If the headlights wouldn't work, it was a problem with the battery - probably the alternator.
