Lark stared at the fear meter for a long time before she dropped her head with a sigh. Ben appeared at her side, arms crossed over his chest.

"Knew y'wouldn't walk away," he muttered matter-of-factly, ears pinned back to his skull. He clearly wasn't happy with the way she'd acted just moments before. He was almost ashamed of his reaper, that's how upset he was. With a shake of his head, Ben waited for Lark to give the command for him to attack.

"Y'know me better'n anyone," she mumbled to her familiar, shaking her head. "Gotta stop bein' so scared. Ket ain't gonna be there f'me ferever. I gotta learn what I can while m'here, she grunted. "Go on, then."

Ben positioned himself before the fear meter, and using his tail for balance the familiar rocked back and pounded on the meter with his hind feet. It rattled around nicely from the solid hit, and Lark sighed.

She wasn't ready to go home yet.
