Wilson wondered why electronics wouldn’t work on the island. Technically not all of them, but anything above a cellphone or music player seemed impossible to access. It drove him nuts. He was more inclined to be outside, but the few things on the island didn’t leave him much to do. Having the internet would have been very helpful in ridding the man of his boredom. [Youngin’, what’re you doing?]

Fiddling with this Rubik’s Cube. He stared at the brightly-colored squares, tilting his head to the side in the vain hope it would assist him in solving the cube. [No, I mean why’re you upside down while doing that.] Wilson scratched his head and became cross-eyed when the rush of blood became too much for him. He rolled over to his stomach and continued with his cube solving, but then sighed and let it bounce to the floor. Then a brilliant idea struck him and he quickly took out his phone.

He pressed send and leaned over to scoop up the fallen Rubik's Cube. Hopefully Ryan would respond quickly.

Ryan was once again parked on his bed reading a book.

Over the past few days of being interrupted and having to put the book down, he was finally nearing the end! Sure some may be a little sad that the book was ending, but in this case, this was only the first of three and he intended to read all of them.

:Let me know when there's more action!: Locke chirped into his mind. The carbuncle had been, in a way, reading over his shoulder the entire time. He too was curious to see how the story carried out.

Sure. Though its better to read it from start to finish. He answered.

He was just about to turn the page towards the second last chapter when the phone went off.

That dreaded phone... it and its obnoxious ring tone... He was really starting to loathe it.... He could replace the ring tone, sure, but there was nothing stopping it from ringing. Not unless he broke it and sadly, that was not an option.

With a reluctant sigh, he set the book down and snatched his phone up; checking his messages to find out who was exactly was texting him.

Turns out it was Wilson.

Apparently the death hunter in training was bored and because he was bored he wanted company. Well, that's great and all for him, but that kind of messed up Ryan's plans.

Syusaki
Why not read a book or something?

He texted back; hitting send and sat the phone back on the table so that he could continue his reading. It wouldn't end there though. He knew that. In fact, he'd give it about fifteen seconds before the phone would go off again.

.....

Probably a good idea to start looking for his bookmark...

After a few seconds of silence Wilson leaned over the bed to scoop up his fallen Rubik’s Cube. He cautiously twisted it to test if it was fine, and let out a soft ‘ah’ when one of the cubes chipped off and clattered to the floor. His face paled as he hastily picked it up. Wait wait wait he could put it back on, right? Right? The man was still attempting to click the fallen piece back in place when his phone rang again. He put the cube down in favor of checking his newest message. His lips twisted into a frown once he finished reading the response. Fingers quickly tapped in a reply and—true to Ryan’s prediction—approximately fifteen seconds later Wilson sent his message.

Quote:
i don’t have books! and this rubik’s cube is getting boring.

Besides, Wilson had never been too fond of sitting down and reading. At least not for long periods of time. If it was compulsory than he would sit for it, but he avoided being idle whenever he could help it. It kind of made him wonder how the higher ups had decided to put him in the Death division. Most of the time he couldn’t stand researching and meticulously sifting through books. After he sent his message he returned to his Rubik’s Cube. A few more clumsy attempts later, the fallen piece finally clicked into place and Wilson cautiously twisted it a couple times to double check it wouldn’t come off again.

Then he stared at his door. He stared and stared until he finally got up and poked his head into the hallway. Was Ryan here yet?

As expected, there was the ring.

With a sigh he put his book down again and flipped the phone open and read the message ( because lets face it, at this point, that was all he was going to get to read! ).

......

So books was a no go and a rubik's cube was just not cutting it, huh...

Syusaki
Fine I'll be there in a minute.

Clicking send, he flipped it shut again and pocketed the phone; heading for the door.

He was already dressed for the day and unless they were going outside he didn't need his coat or scarf and Wilson's room was not too far down the hall so he didn't bother with shoes. It didn't take too long to locate the other's room either. Room number 169 was a little difficult to miss, in his opinion...

"Wilson?" He called, tapping the door with his foot and waiting for a response.

His ears perked when he heard the familiar beep of his phone ringing and he walked over to pick it up. Wilson smiled; he didn’t need to pick up the phone to know that it was another message from Ryan. Was he coming? Was he coming? He was coming. Sweet! Just as he pocketed his cellphone, there was a soft tap at the door and he heard a familiar voice. “Ryan?” When Wilson answered the door he may as well be a dog, tail wagging and ears perked up. “How’ve you been?” He stepped aside and closed the door once Ryan walked in.

“Uhhh. Sorry to bother you.” His smile turned uneasy as he scratched the back of his head. It only just now occurred to the trainee that he had probably been bothering Ryan. Well, too late to turn back now! “So I haven’t seen you since that room with War. What’ve you been up to?” Wilson walked backwards until he hit the bed and plopped down.

Ryan's eye twitched.

"Who else would it be?" He asked. Arms crossed over his chest as he waited for the door to be opened.

Once it was, he stepped in and past the other trainee; walking into the center of the room before he moved to pick of the abandoned Rubik's cube.

"Ugh... don't remind me." Ryan was still living in fear that the next text message he got would be from Caelius, deciding what their punishment would be. To be honest, he hoped the man was so busy he had forgotten all about it.

Unlikely.

"I've been okay, I guess. Haven't done much since then. Though I've had a couple... interesting experiences." He answered, placing the cube back down when he failed to match the colours. He wasn't about to mention his last mission with Marcus and the others. Not when it had turned out so terribly. Though he was sure by now there were several rumors flying around.

"What about you? Done anything else, other than pester others for company?" There was a small grin on his face now, as he eyed Wilson curiously.

“I don’t know. Maybe some creeper hunter who I’ve never met before?” Lame excuse was lame. He laughed, scooting across his bed until he had his back pressed against the wall. Wilson grinned, reaching over to grab the basketball lying on his bed. “I don’t think it was that bad.” A shrug as he rolled the orange rubber ball from one hand to the other. He glanced at the toy in Ryan’s hands. “Yeah, don’t ask why I have that. I just do.” Another shrug before he bent his arms and straightened them, sending the ball flying from the tips of his fingers and sailing over Ryan’s head.

With his hands now empty he twiddled his thumbs together, recounting the meeting with War again in his mind. “But I’ll admit that definitely didn’t end the way I would have liked it to.” He raised an eyebrow at Ryan. “Interesting experiences? Such as…?” Consider Wilson’s interest officially piqued, but when the boy didn’t elaborate he held back a disappointed sigh.

His lips pulled into a grin. “Tried some of the courses—the sun one in particular.” Wilson winced. “Did not end well.” It never did end well. Bored, his eyes wandered around his room before finally settling on a familiar rock placed on his table. He smirked.

"A creeper? Really?" This somehow amused him. He couldn't really imagine any of the other trainees acting in such a way. Then again, he didn't know any of them that well either. "Well I don't think you'd be needing to worry much during this time of day, but if you're that panicky about having company, I could always go back to reading my book." He reminded, with a half smile; catching the ball before it hit the ground.

"It definitely could have gone better, that's for sure." He agreed, looking at the Rubik's cube again when it was brought up. "Why? Afraid I'm gonna' tease you about it and call you a geek?" He asked. The grin was back in full force now as he tossed the basket ball back towards the death trainee. "Don't worry about it."

He paused when Wilson asked, trying to think up another example and ended up changing the subject. "So--how far did you get before you got your a** handed to you?" He asked instead.

Ryan seemed amused, but Wilson frowned at the reaction. “Yeah, really. I mean—Dr. H seems like he could definitely be a creeper, even though I haven’t seen him much. Don’t you think he gives off that kind of vibe?” He hoped it wasn’t just him. “Woahhh, no, it’s alright! You’re already here, so why go back to reading your book when you took the trouble of coming here?” Wilson looked genuinely confused and somewhat worried about it, but it was probably just a joke, right?

He rolled his eyes. “And if I said I was?” Wilson wasn’t afraid or worried about Ryan’s reaction to the Rubik’s cube, but just curious. He caught the ball and grinned. “Thanks.” Because honestly he still didn’t quite understand why he had brought the toy along with him. His expression turned annoyed at the mention. “Not very far, I’ll tell you that,” Wilson answered vaguely. He turned his attention back to the rock and half-nodded to it while grinning. “He’s glad you’re back,” he teased.

Ryan shrugged. "I couldn't say. I've only seen him the one time and he was more insane than creeper to me then. Why? Have some bad experiences since?" He asked, frowning a little and feigning disappointment when his suggestion to leave was dismissed. This only lasted so long before his expression turned unreadable. He would let Wilson try and guess what the moon trainee was thinking.

"Are you?" He asked. He didn't care to be honest. Wilson hadn't started spouting on about mathematics and he hadn't shoved any crazy or complex theories on him, so he couldn't be all that geeky now could he? After all, it took a little more than a Rubik's cube for Ryan to deem someone that.

He snorted at the death trainees answer, making a strangled sound as he almost successfully stopped his laughter from escaping. Those courses really were intimidating. Just the thought of them were making him nervous... But hearing this from Wilson? It was somehow funny.

His amusement quickly died, however, as the one object he wished he never picked up was brought to his attention.

...Sir Yan....

"Is he now...." He asked, glaring daggers at the one object he promised--no vowed to throw into the sea someday.

“No, not really, but that’s the impression I get from the stuff I’ve heard from other people.” Wilson counted himself lucky for not having any unpleasant experiences with the Life division leader. He matched Ryan’s frown with one of his own, except his was more exaggerated and childish, perhaps even pouty. While there was silence between them, clearly Wilson was pleading for the moon trainee to stay lest he let Wilson die by boredom.

“I was pretty decent at academics before…well, you know, and I guess you could call me a gun geek and such,” he answered. He had yet to spout formulas and theorems, but if the boy requested it of him, Wilson was confident he could pull out something out of his rusty brain of academia. But he could definitely rattle off the formulas and equations needed to quickly solve a Rubik’s cube. Fortunately he opted not to do so.

At first his expression was blank, but it quickly turned into a smile in response to Ryan’s laughter. “It’s kind of impressive at how much of a failure I am at doing the Shadow Run.” He shook his head.

His face now looked a lot like the LOL face. “Yes, he is.” Wilson walked over to pick up the rock and held it close to his face. “Can’t you just see the happiness pouring off his face?”
PostPosted: Tue Mar 27, 2012 1:47 pm

Ryan snorted. He had heard of Wilson's interest in guns before, but he didn't know how much of a gun junkie the death trainee was.

"I'm sure it could be worse." He chipped in. He wasn't helping, of course, but it was amusing to listen to Wilson's tales of woes concerning the island courses. Then again, it also put more doubt into his mind that he could pass them himself. Not that he wouldn't try them. No. He certainly intended to give them a shot, but he'd probably enter with the knowledge that he was likely going to lose, which wasn't really a smart thing to do.

Eying the rock, his expression changed again. Though this time, it was a cheerful one. A mask to cover up the one currently plotting Sir Yan's demise.

"Yesss, so happy indeed. I bet he's so happy, he feels like he's flying." He answered, waiting until Wilson had his back turned on him to snatch up the rock and toss him right out the window.

He offered Ryan a conceding shrug. “True,” admitted Wilson, though he still didn’t look particularly convinced. He imagined that there was an even worse fate in store for Wilson. Multiple runs ending before he could even get to the second wave. A force even told him that at one point he would probably be run over and flung around like a ragdoll. He dismissed the notion. How could that even happen? That couldn’t be true. Nahhh. (Oh if only, Wilson. If only.)

Wilson observed Ryan, watching as his expression morphed into a cheerful one. He raised an eyebrow, but made no further comment. Maybe something funny had entered his thoughts. It happened to Wilson sometimes.

He threw the moon trainee a quizzical. “Flying? Uh, yeah. Sure.” Wilson smiled and bent down to pick up the basketball.

Farewell, Sir Yan (until Wilson gets you back.) He knew you well.
