Lacie tilted her head. Which test to take..? The time that she stayed there was almost worrisome to those that didn’t know her, simply standing there and trying to decide. The physical exam required the use of her fear on the fear meter. The written exam was a written test. And considering how many times Lacie had missed her classes by getting lost (unintentionally), Lacie doubted that she would be any good at it. Although even if she had attended class, it was still very doubtful as Lacie didn’t take to complex thinking very well. Healing and defense was not a part of her abilities, nor was spells and hexes. Lacie was considered an ice ‘mage’ in the strictest sense of the word but Lacie didn’t have the disposition necessary to employ the deceptions that boils and ghouls employed in those arts.
Was the physical exam the only choice for her? Lacie didn’t have much confidence in her strength.. but she did believe in her element. Holding out her hand with her palm facing downwards, her glaive materialized from her thoughts. Her gloved hand grasped onto the pole arm. The weapon still suffered marks from its time with the hunter battle. “Please bear through it this time.” Most people regarded their weapons simply as weapons. But to Lacie, her glaive was a part of her. If one was hurt, the other would be hurt as well.
Walking to the examination grounds, Lacie stopped at the fear mete. Setting the box down, Lacie patted the fear meter with a smile. "Do your best" She told the inanimate object. Even if it was simply an object, Lacie couldn't help but feel a bit bad to be targeting it.
Taking a deep breath, and bringing her hand to her chest with a sigh. Lacie made sure to stay away from others. She knew that she would only be a hindrance if she were to be caught in another's fear attacks. But at the same time, she didn't have the confidence to say that she wouldn't hit the others as well. But that wasn't surprising considering Lacie's recent entrance to Amityville. Lifting her glaive, ice shards materializing, gathered from the moisture of the air, they trembled as she closed her eyes to concentrate her control. Don’t be afraid. She told herself. She barely had any experience with her fear. The only time so far that she had tried to use her fear when they were last attacked but in that lava-filled, fiery room, and that horrifying moment when she had seen everyone captured in nets.. a wave of terror washed over her. So much so that Lacie fell to her knees, covering her ears with her hands as if she could shut out the thoughts. What if it happened again? What would happen to the students with Amityville? Doubts and worries clouded her mind. The weapon clattered to the ground, forgotten. Some projectiles fell, some faded away, others careened out of control, nearly hitting the watching boogiemen. Not now.. She tried to calm down. Not when the school was about to be shut down. If she was scared now, what would become of her? Of all her friends? I-I have to try. Trying to stand up again, she reached out for her glaive, a medium between her fear and herself. Her affinity with her element was clear. Clutching the ice weapon with both hands, she attempted it again. A few moments passed as the ice shards slowly became still.
She finally opened her golden eyes slowly. "Go." A rush of cold air surrounded the reaper, lifting the folds of her skirt and causing her pigtails to ripple gently. The force of the ice projectiles converging on the area at once caused a hazy mist to spread, concealing the effects of her attack. When the smoke finally cleared, the results were disappointingly clear. The ice shards had hit everything but the target.
“Why?” She asked herself. Why wouldn’t it work?
And Lacie sighed. It appeared that she had a great deal of work ahead of her. Stepping back for the next student, Lacie struggled to ignore the watchful stares of the boogiemen.
