Siad was setting up the hollowed out antelope horn he used to look up into the night sky, and map the stars as they moved across it. He was humming under his breath, the song a common one often heard among the bards of the Pride, the rich timber of his voice showing he could have been a storyteller had he not been called to be a scribe instead.
Around him, scattered, yet with some odd order to the chaos, were other instruments, he used to measure and record what he saw in the heavens. The desert nights could be as cold as the days were hot so he had plenty of hides near where he worked.
Tonight would be a glorious night for watching the heavens, it was clear, and the stars were bright, but it was fairly cold..he could see his breath puffing in front of him. Perfect.

As Faon made her way up to the designated meeting point, her eyes sparkled with the stars glittering in the night sky. She wasn't aware of all the instruments the lion had placed among himself until she had nearly stepped on one. Quickly jerking her one fore paw into the air, she held it there, timidly lowering her nose to sniff the items. She had never seen anything like them before, and so reacted very much like a scared cat discovering something for the first time. Slinking around side of them, she came up on the male's flank, her head still watching the items curiously, causing her to stuff her nose up his fur as she turned her head in greeting. Her eyes scrunched tight as she lets out a muffled "Ooff." and wiggles her head free of him. "I'm terribly sorry...." she flushed. What a way to make a first impression.

Siad had heard her come up, and was making the last minute adjustments needed to be able to show her the three stars that made up the collar bone of the Great Lion. So he really wasn't paying much attention to what she was doing when she was stepping around him, it wasn't until her soft, rather..velvety feeling muzzle was buried in his fur that his full attention was caught by her.
It took him totally by surprise...
Where all female muzzles so soft? or was it only her's? He'd never noticed before. His sister's wasn't, maybe because her tongue was so sharp. It made the scientist in him want to reach out with his large paw and touch it, to see if it really was how it had felt, but he remembered just how large he was and how it could be intimidating sometimes.
So instead he gave her a warm smile, " Hello, I'm glad you came up. I thought I'd show you some of the stars before we started your lessons." His rich voice seemed deeper up here, in the dark, with the sky full of pinpoints of light above them.

Flickering her ears to calm her self down, she smiled and nodded, taking a seat next to him. He seemed even larger than before once silhouetted against the night sky. Her red eyes blinked up towards the stars as she let out a deep breath, the chill in the air turning her breath to fog before her eyes. "I always watched the stars before I would fall asleep..." she said softly. "But these ones seem different." she tilted her head, a soft smile tugging at her maw. She liked the unfamiliarity, but she also hoped in time it would feel just like home. At least she had found someone who was willing to teach her the ways. Already she felt as if he was meant to be her guide. "I thank you for this by the way.....for taking the time to teach me."

"The stars change depending on where you are, " Said said in a gentle voice, " they move across the sky, like dancers almost." The large male noticed the frost from her breath, and realized she must be cold. It took time to get used to how quickly the temperature could change from day to night in the Deseret.
" Here, you must be chilled up here, " his tone staying as soft as his paws as he picked up one of the hides and draped it over her, settling down across from her, suddenly distracted by her eyes. The shone like rubies, and it took him a moment to register what she had said to him.
Recovering, he gave her a truly joyful smile, " It is a passion for me, teaching. I think it is what I do best. Oh, I can hunt and fight just fine, though my sister is far better at it, but the gods had this in mind for may fate, despite the size they bestowed on me. It is no trouble, but a pleasure."
