Pride Rock
PostPosted: Sat Dec 24, 2011 5:53 pm

Bunching up his haunches, Musa eyed a large, black beetle sitting on the sunny rock where he liked to sunbathe. Stalking forward silently, as silently as a cub could, he pounced on the beetle--or tried--failing as the insect flew away. "Ah! Elephant-dung!" He cursed, cringing as he looked around for any maidens who'd possibly chastise him for his language.

Dark emerald colored eyes glanced across the land which was shared between him, and three other kings. Where they were was a mystery to the black maned male. This would be Manaba. Didn't look like much. Just a typical handsome faced green eyes male. Though, his shoulders were apparently "to kill for". The lion honestly didn't care for his physique have the time. Though, when it came to the ladies, he did. Always keeping himself clean and what not, there wasn't a female he couldn'e whoo. However there were a single few. Which intrigued him even more. After a few accidents he's learned a couple of things. Anywho, turning on sturdy paws Manaba was heading down from the lookout position he was at, having been basking in the sun for that moment. It didn't take long to get towards the other spots where others would be bathing. A few lionesses catching his eye, causing him to wink. They seemed to go starry eyed and laughed to themselves. No matter. Attention was being caught by a dark furred cub. Musa was his name from what Manaba could remember. Huffing a laugh, he watched him pounce on a beetle, failing but still. Striding forward he opened his maw to speak. "Shouldn't speak like that little guy. You never know who's listening." Winking, he was trying to show that he wouldn't say a word to any of the cub maidens.

Sarabi growled upon seeing the king of the Pridelands, her tail swaying behind her like the tall, green grass being thrown about by the wind. Her green eyes scanned him for any attributes she should look out for; but she found nothing. His figure was lean. Not a particularly sturdy stature, one that would have well-toned muscles required for keeping order and maintaining the balence amongst the hunt and hunted. "Huh, so this is what your Pride has come to? They let weaklings like you make the rules. How pathetic." He seemed too lean for a king, as she had observed earlier. It was only now, upon a closer look, that she could see muscle, but not enough. He wasn't majestic in her eyes, not particularly handsome. For her, handsome meant intelligent, strong, bulky, and serious. He appeared to be too laid-back, too blithe, too cub-like. It angered her that the Pridelanders had the best territory, and yet they had leaders like this! She'd certainly report back to the Outsiders once she got the chance. Her claws unsheathed and pricked at the rock, creating small gashes in the hard surface. Her sparkling green eyes shimmered like crystals as light from the sun danced between them. Her nose wrinkled again in disgust, he was an eyesore! An insult to the true Pride. "Well, what shall the punishment be?" She snapped, wanting to be done and gone. A pound of flesh was generally the price for trespassing, but she, along with many of her kind, knew that these were soft-hearted lions, undeserving of their easy lives. She didn't bother to look at the cub; she didn't blame the young for what the older ones were responsible for.

((Yes, Manaba may be very handsome, but she values a lot of battle smarts/brauny boys than good-lookers XD So, in her eyes, he isn't handsome, but it's in the figurative sense--like, he does look good physically to her, but because of the qualities he lacks she considers him/files him mentally under ugly--just so you don't think your poor lion is being totally over-looked by Sarabi XD))

Musa snorted, not going for Manaba's act--or whatever the king was trying to do. Since Abaeze didn't like the king--more like finding he was a fool--he would think the same. "Don't make me laugh." He would take what punishment the maidens laid out, even if he'd regret it later. Then, when he spotted the rogue--no--an Out-lander! Brightening, he bounded over to her, running circles around her. She didn't seem dangerous to him, she wasn't even paying attention to him, so he was sure she wouldn't hurt him too much. "Whoa! You're Out-lander! Right? Does that mean you're as strong as they say as an Out-lander? Could you take down a wilder beast by yourself like the maidens say?"
PostPosted: Fri Dec 30, 2011 2:40 pm

((LOL Mentally she's like, "WTF is wrong with this cub?" I love Musa though! He's so cute even if he's a bit snobby to the King--actually, I like him more for it XD Oh no! I'm turning into Sarabi! *Flails around*))

Sarabi glanced momentarily at the dark-furred cub and quickly decided to placate his insatiable thirst for knowledge that most little ones possessed. Otherwise she'd be plauged with his presence for moons to come. "I have taken as much as two wilder beast down, on my own. Though I suppose it shouldn't count, since one was sick and weak. It had fallen, and I had easily ripped it apart." She wasn't afraid to go into detail, after all this cub would grow and learn to do the same for the sake of his Pride. "I am an Outlander, and we are taught how to be most efficient when on our hunting patrols. You shouldn't believe everything you hear, however. I could be lying, or telling the truth. You'd never know; and Maidens have a tendency to tell stories, and exaggerate the truth." She wouldn't mind telling the cub how her life wasn't a peice of gazelle, but it was the right way to live; the only way to live thanks to these soft-hearted fools. It taught her discilpine, and the necessary survival skills that would ensure that her morals would stay intact. Her eyes returned to the king, awaiting his response.

[I know what you mean. He's basically like my littlest brother, except for the name. My cub has a different Arabic name than my hyperactive knucklehead. I know, I love how he can be so mean. He-he. One day, he'll be king and Hell will break loose.]

Musa grinned, tail swaying back and forth in excitement. "But you're not lying to me." He danced around her again, ignoring the stupid king. "The maidens are just old farts anyways. I don't think they even want to watch over me." He added in a whisper, glancing at the maidens sleeping in the cave. He then glanced at the Out-lander again, taking in her well-muscled body and fierce, sharp teeth. He hoped he could be like her--and like Kwaku. "Will you teach me how to stalk better?"
Before the lioness could answer, he was whacked behind the head with a strong tail.
"Stop bugging her, Musa; and shouldn't you be with the maidens right now?" Looking up at Abaeze, he grinned naughtily.
"They're boring! They're nothing like you, Ayita, Kwaku, or the Out-lander." His sister rolled her eyes, cuffing his ears as she dropped the half-eaten carcass of a gazelle at Manaba's feet.

((Cool, and wow you've been busy making cat profiles XD))

She didn't expect to find herself laughing softly at the cub's antics. She eyed him, cautiously and curiously, feeling like he might be much more...Well, deserving of these lucious lands. She lowered her head to whisper in the cub's ear before he would have to leave. Her breath was warm, and inviting with the scent of the wild and the unknown wafting from her body. "Ah, you've the same bravery and ambition to make a true lion of yourself that we Outsiders posess. You are observant, and intelligent. You speak against your King, which I suppose you know is foolish and unworthy of his title. I whisper this so you shan't be punished. I'd never turn you in; we Outsiders are loyal friends." She muttered slightly, before straightening up. "Unfortunately I doubt the Pridelanders would let me teach you anything. I can't believe they aren't teaching you to hunt already. I begun my lessons as soon as I could walk. Those maidens are foolish if they cannot recognize a future king when they see one; you do not need them. You are obviously far too charming for their tastes." She was encouraging the cub to continue his behaviour. If he learned the truth now, he would be a very strong, and commanding lion in the future. One she would be proud to call friend, if she ever could. She sat down, licking her paw and passing it over her ears. Her steady green gaze monitored the King's reactions, waiting for him to snap or break. He was birdbrained if he thought she'd sit around much longer and take this sort of thing. Sarabi was not comfortable in the least; for the prey was out there, and she had a Pride to feed. Her tail thwacked the ground impatiently in a sort of short rythm that matched her claws as they sheathed and unsheathed.

[Ha, and catching up in the role play. You and Sugar write so much.]

Musa's mood was only slightly dampened by the Out-lander's refusal to teach in some moves. He guess it was only natural. "They have, but they're no good at it. They can't even--" His mouth was muffled by his sister's tail slapped over his mouth. He glared up at her, but only good-heartily. He loved her very much and felt very protective of her.
"Hush now, Musa. What would Mustafa and Zaha think of you, talking for freely with an Out-lander. Unless she joins our pride, she is an enemy." Abaeze scolded him, mentioning their parents' names as if that'll stop him. He knew his father would be proud he was speaking out and that his mother would only want him to stay safe.
"Right," he batted her tail away. "Like she'd join us? She probably has a family, right? She wouldn't abandoned them even if she found love or liked me well enough. Though if she ended up with Kwaku, I'd be very happy. Or you with him." He suggested, making his older sister chortle.

[Now, Abaeze said Mustafa, not Simba's daddy.]

The entire scenario playing before him was just a time where Manaba could keep his tightly woven mouth shut. Harsh words did not solve anything. Though the criticism was understandable. Manaba looked nothing like the warriors, or the other kings. But his brain was what he gained most in. Even though he didn't seem like it. That brain of his matched his older sister. Everyone in the pride knew of Ayita's cunning and strategic ability. The male simply chose not to show it off much. Though physical appearance wasn't important to him. Not muscular, but he was quick, thinner framed. Not teeth were bared in the process of the scuffle of exchanged. Manaba simple listened as Musa was showing interest in the out-lander. Though there was a question. Looking up to his powerful sister, his deep voice spoke. "Sis, why bring an Out-lander to our home?" It was then that the king almost lost his ear for the head huntress snarled. Manaba forgot, Ayita knew they were siblings but wanted to be treated different then that. Just because he was a king didn't make her a queen. Sighing he relaxed.

The swipe of a powerful black clawed paw had missed the target it had been fired apon. Of course, Ayita had meant to miss, for injuring a king was against the law. Snarling with her large pearly white teeth bared, she snapped at Manaba. "Being how I am, you should know by now Manaba. I simply want someone to vouche for the other groups that reside in these lands!" She knew it wasn't her place to resent and rebel against the Pridelands ancient code, but these were different times. Years after the split. Technically, they were all related in some shape or form. There ancestors were the same. Setting a large paw to the rock below, Ayita let herself scowl at her brother. For as smart as he was, he need not to act like a dolt. "You dead beat hyena-brained elephant dunged dolt! How dare you question my motives! I can see it in your eyes!" It was now clear that she was seriously having issues with the past. The pride knew that Manaba had been unfair to his sister in the past, resulting in her actually losing one thing she cared for dearly. Not the time to remember.

Sinking back slightly at the head huntress' ferocity, it was amazing how a large yet thin male could cower at the snarl of a female. Then again Ayita was the largest female in the pride, holding the size of a male. "I apologize. Now, if she wishes to speak she may. I sha'll listen. But what would she have to say, if she did not come here of her own will." Again he had to dodge a ferocious swipe. He was lucky.

Having lost her temper infront of the entire pride, one of her hunters, and a cub; Ayita quickly resumed her composure. "Forgive me, for I should have not said what I did. Now, I was truly hoping she would inform us of what the Out-landers are going through. For I'm sure we all know that they've had a hard time living the past few years." That is when her motives appeared. "We as Pridelanders say we help the needed. That would mean helping the animals in return that they provide for us. Now. It is also said that we protect fellow lions. I have decided to question that, and say why not help others of OUR kind." She knew she was now probably going to be demoted and lose every bit of respect she had, but this was something she wanted to be brought forth for attention. It had been too long. The pride seemed to forget the troubles of the outside world, and what it meant to have their status as true Pridelanders.

(I am beyond hating this. I had to remind myself what was Ayita's thought process for taking Sarabi "hostage". Then I was thinking back. Well, I made my quietly polite cunning lioness bring some trouble xD and truth.)

Musa's eyes went wide. Helping lions of other prides! That would be awesome! He could probably play with the cubs from their prides instead of the boring ones here. Jumping around Manaba and Ayita, he couldn't contain himself. "Let's do it! I want to see the other lions!" He only saw the usual from his pride, which got boring real fast.
Abaeze was quiet for a moment, but Musa could tell she was thinking.
"It wouldn't be so bad. Our territory has plenty of prey to spare..." He could see her mind working and smiled. She was considering his future in all this, his health, basically everything. "It'd be a good learning experience for young lions..."
PostPosted: Sat Dec 31, 2011 10:01 am

((WOW. Uh, you do know the Outsiders would probably end up finding a way to take over Pride Rock, right? At least, at first XD))

"I would never betray my Pride for my own personal feelings." She softly agreed with the cub. Even if she did find love, or desired to live here, she would not. It went against all she had been taught. She listened to the King's words, her ears swiveling to catch the echoing roar of her sisters...Not by blood, but still, sisters all the same. They were probably worried, wondering why she had not returned with food.
"I, for one, am here, and you don't need to speak as if I couldn't vouche for myself." She snapped, when Manaba began asking the lioness, who looked very much like him, what would she have to say if she hadn't come here willingly. It made her pelt bristle angrily, and she snarled at their foolish ideas. Sarabi glowered at the stupidity of the cats throughout the remainder of the idle conversations. Most of all, the large female and the King. She knew cubs couldn't really understand the complex social structure of a Pride, nor the complex feelings that could come with it. And the small one who watched him seemed like a frivolous female who had no idea what was actually going on. "Are you all mad? Outsiders do things for themselves, we do not seek the help of our enemy. We survive by our own strength, and will not lean or depend upon others as your soft-minded kind would. We would never join forces with you, Pridelanders. For all the evil and wrongs you have done us, we will never forgive you! And while that is said, the idea is ridiculous in and of itself! While my Pride would never harm the innocent, they would not stand by and watch you all rule as you do. They would throw you out into the wastelands, where we must reside. And while we wouldn't harm you otherwise, as you have done to us, there are those who would kill your Pride's cubs! Think before you actually act on one of your subordinate's thoughts, or a cub's wish for play." She roared, her claws raking stone. Obviously there would be rogues, or other outsider prides, who would definitely lick their lips at the chance to kill all the Pridelanders, or at least their cubs to make them suffer more slowly. "I'm not going to stand here forever, meet out my proper punishment or send me away already! I'm disgusted by the sight of all of you." Her tail began to lash back and forth, and her eyes were narrowed into furious slits.

Abaeze hid her smile at the Out-lander's furious roar. She was full of pride and truth. Shaking her head, the lioness nudged Musa's away from the adults. "She's right in the end, but I will support Ayita." She mewed softly to her brother in response to his pleading eyes. "For now, it is time for us to make our leave."
"I want to stay and listen!" He tried to escape her grasp, running over to the powerful Out-lander. He looked up at her with big eyes. "What's you name? I'm Musa." He asked seriously, knowing by now she should have figured out his name, but still, the manners she instilled in him would not fade.

[Musa doesn't want Sarabi to leave yet.]
PostPosted: Tue Jan 03, 2012 12:58 pm

(Yes I realize that. Ayita's thoughts are very complex and she finds it hard to express them without clarity.)

The outsider's words were filled with truth. It was the counter arguement to what had been said before. Ayita may be a proud lioness but she always was open to admitting when she was wrong. This was another healthy moment of being wrong. It was true indeed that they could kill the Pride's cubs. "You are right. While my mind was clouded with the thoughts of equility, I had lost sight of the personality quotes of others outside of the Pridelands." Those daring green eyes were somewhat softer then their ferocity of anger towards the male king. Stepping back she bowed her head to Manaba. This was her form of apology without even saying it. Once stepped away the powerful lioness was bidding her farewell. Ayita had been wrong for swiping at the Kind. She had been in the wrong place to asert her thoughts and authority. All of it had been wrong. The dark colored fur that outlined her body, showed the stiffness in her muscles with each stride. Stepping away quickly, there were thoughts of wondering off to relax and slightly think over what she had done. It had been wrong of her. Stepping from stone to stone, hopping off, Ayita was wondering back off to where she had came from. There was more to be done to feed the large pride. Shaking her head, off she went. However, her ears were pricked back, listening to what she might bear before she left. Thinking back she stopped, waiting for if the outsider would be sent off to leave. Knowing Manaba, there was going to be only a warning for now.

Those dark emerald hues watched silently as the lead huntress distant herself from the small group confiding around the Outlander. "Ayita has her points, and so do you." Manaba wasn't thinking of everything at once for his thoughts were silenced by Musa jumping around like a lilly frog. Letting out an intake of breath, the maned male gazed back up to Sarabi. So punishment was indeed the task that was originally supposed to be broguth down apon the outsider. Lips twitching, it would be such a shame. She was such a beautiful dark furred lioness. Pity she wasn't part of the pride. No matter. This was business, not play. "While pain could be very easy to do, that's not my direct way. I will suggest a warning first." Eyes held their own ferocity as he gazed at the female. "You are to leave. Enter again, and I won't let off so easily." This was where he was done being serious. Bright and cheery he trotted off like a cub. Glancing over the rock to look down at his sister he yelled out. "Keep it up sis! Bring in some more cute ones!" That would be when he cowered when Ayita roared.

Sarabi wondered why a cub would still be so interested in an Outlander like herself. She smiled at him; he would grow into a fine lion if he didn't allow his elders to fill his mind with their idiotic ideals and morals. "I am Sarabi, min koning." She purred respectively. It meant, "little king", and she doubted any of the Pridelanders would know that. It was an olden tongue long forgotten by many. She only knew a few terms because of her father. She turned as Ayita and the King's voices drew her attention. She almost snarled, ''What was that supposed to mean'' when the more prominent lioness came out with the bit about personality quotas, but refrained. She was in enemy territory, and even if she wasn't afraid, she wouldn't bother with them anymore. They'd wasted enough of her precious time. At least Ayita seemed to understand what Sarabi had been trying to tell them; the younger one was stupid. Why support someone if you knew they were completely wrong? Where was the sense in that? She watched the head huntress crawl off into the sun-light lands of her Pride until her body disappeared amongst the rock's edges. She blinked at Manaba. "Hmph, too weak to deal out the proper punishment; I wouldn't expect much else from a Pridelander. A simple warning won't prevent me from hunting for my Pride." She muttered, shaking out her dark fur and padding off. Before she disappeared, she paused to look back at the cub. "Train hard, and make me proud to say I knew you when you were little." She grinned, flicking her tail as a send-off and jumping into the tall, yellowed grasses gracefully. Lean muscles rippled beneath her pelt. She veered off, her ears flicking as she heard the low bellows of prey. I'm going to try again. I won't give up. Determination filled her leaf-touched eyes.

((Exit Sarabi back to the Pridelands lol Should Manaba catch her this time? Or one of my warriors?))
