Danny was in a good mood. A good, good mood. The best mood she could be in. Not only had her wings finally stopped hurting (practically overnight!), but she was back at Amityville. Back at the place she loved the most in the whole world. It had all her classes, all her belongings, and most important of all; all her friends. She had already seen Roch and Mort, they had helped her with the wing situation after all, but it wasn't who she wanted to see most of all. There was only one person she really wanted to see.

Who else would that be except the infamous Nyyrikki? Over her vacation she had finally realized that she had come to "like" someone; something that had never happened before. It was definitely true what all the famous songs said; the best time was when you were in love.

Although, Danny didn't really think it was love. It was more like ... well she couldn't picture being without Rikki, that was a start. Roch always seemed to fuss over Xiu, and Danny found herself fussing over Rikki in the same way. Didn't that mean something? Maybe it didn't. It was odd, Danny never really thought this much about any particular subject, but she found her mind completely consumed with these thoughts.

After talking with Roch, she had felt even more elated too. Danny had been so worried about another ghoul ... but then Roch said he meant ... her? So ... did that mean that Rikki liked her back? He had been rather affectionate during her vacation, but Danny just assumed it as a sign of friendship. Why would it be anything else? Maybe Roch was just pulling a trick on her. Roch didn't seem like the type to joke about that sort of stuff though ...

Either way, all of these thoughts were becoming far too much for her. She wanted to just march over to Rikki and ask for a straight answer. To her, that seemed like the best thing to do. Especially now that she had hope of a possible relationship. Roch's words kept echoing in her head as she skipped over. I meant YOU doofus. Those words filled her up with so much hope that it was practically silly. Either way, Danny was determined to find the answer, and sitting in her dorm wasn't going to do any good. Without a second thought, Danny stood up, patted her little Rabo on the head (rather forcefully, much to the minipet's disdain) and kicked her heels out the door.

She was dressed in the special outfit that she and Yin Cang had prepared. She was ridiculously thankful to be out of those dresses; they were so uncomfortable! All stuffy and warm and itchy- no thanks! Danny was happy to be back at Amityville for so many reasons; so many reasons. It was a little chilly outside, but then, a lot of Amityville days were. After all, fall was cold for a lot of the time. You only had rare warm days at Amityville. Nothing like back home where the weather was always warm. Danny was thankful she had at least brought a little flannel for herself. It wasn't thick or covering by any means, but it would get the job done.

Finally she arrived near the club room, excited to see Rikki. She had sent him a text to meet her there moments after leaving; he wouldn't have anything to do anyways. Why wouldn't he come? Danny wasn't even thinking about the possibility of rejection. It seemed that gene had just been skipped over in her FEAR. Right now all she was thinking about was how happy she was going to be to see him after a week long absence from him. After all, he had only visited her for the weekend, after that he'd had to leave and return to Amityville like everyone else.

As she rounded the corner, Danny couldn't help but feel giddy to see the club room. Inside he was probably playing the drums, or just waiting nervously for her, or maybe even doing homework (let's face it, he wasn't doing homework). Whatever it was, he was going to be waiting for HER. With a sly look on her face, she crept up to the door, prepared to pounce on her soon-to-be-confessed-to-boil. Danny didn't really have much of a plan beyond "surprise! I like you!" She craned her neck around the door and...

What she found completely shocked her. Rikki wasn't there alone, waiting for her like she had hoped. Instead he was with someone, and when Danny's eyes flitted over who it was, her heart sunk to the pit of her stomach. Edel was sitting there chatting with him like it was completely normal. They were even close together! She couldn't hear what they were saying, but Rikki winked at her and she was nodding and grinning-

Danny couldn't look any longer. Her mind started racing, completely betraying her. It seemed as though Rikki didn't even think nearly as much of their weekend together as she did. Roch was right, he was just bouncing from one ghoul to the next. It all came down to this: Danny wasn't special. It was even more of a betrayal that it was Edel sitting in the seat. They had looked so nice together (well Edel looked nice with anyone, but Danny wasn't going to admit that), what with Edel's pretty long blue hair and Rikki's straight, boilish features. Of course he wouldn't want stumpy Danny. Of course.

The fire demoness ran away from the room, streaking back to her dorm, where she eventually just layed there, heartbroken and shaking.
