Delnar had been on the move the last few days. With the herd more and more settled in their new home he was able to spend more time wandering, exploring this new land and the Soquili within it. Most of the encounters had gone well, though there were one or two that had been a bit less welcoming and he counted himself lucky to have gotten away unscathed. Today had been relatively quiet so far. Earlier he had met a mother daughter pair who were traveling about, going to visit other family from what they had told him, but otherwise it was just him and endless miles or meadow and forest. He didn't mind the quiet, gave him time to think on all the events that had happened recently and wonder what the future had in store for not only himself but the herds as well.

Stopping by a small creek Delnar drank the cool clear water. Here the grass was shorter so he didn't need to struggle to see where he was going or what was in front of him. He decided that he would take a few minutes to relax, maybe eat a bit, before continuing his journey. Lifting his head Delnar surveyed the area for a moment before lowering it back down to continue drinking. Being small as he was meant he needed to be extra cautious in places like this where predators often lurked waiting to spring on a Soquili while their focus was on drinking.

Despite the chill in the air, Ithil found herself rather warm; having a lot of hair and scales helped. Some days she would take to basking for a brief nap in order to let her legs be still for a moment, and only minutes before she had woken up, resettled her accessories, and moved onward. The wind was teasing, and the sky clear - perhaps she might take another sunbath should she find someplace suitable . . .

And then an odd sight greeted her as she found the river. A peculiarly small Soquili was carefully drinking the water, and . . . were those wings near its tail? A diminutive horn? Ithil blinked to make sure it was not the sun giving her a vision before slowly approaching.

Perhaps . . . But no, her peers had said they were only a myth in faraway lands!

It took only a matter of moments for Delnar to hear the approach of another. The footfalls seemed to be slow, almost cautious. Not too far off of a predator creeping up on it's prey but enough for Delnar to feel no threat at this moment. Slowly he lifted his head, licking a few droplets from his lips before turning to see who was approaching. His eyes fell upon a Kirin mare, who was wearing quite interesting accessories. He had seen a few other Soquili wearing decorations but none of them looked similar to what this mare had on. To be truthful she looked quite elegant. Turning so that he could face her Delnar smiled politely.

"Good morning." His tone was friendly and cheerful. Taking a few steps away from the creek he stopped short of the mare and looked up at her. Though he was a big large for his breed he was still small compared to her. "Pleasant morning to be out, even if it is a bit chilly." And then because he was a stickler for manners he tipped his head in greeting. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Delnar."

Ithil was a regal mare, a Soquili of royalty who hailed from a herd in the cleft of a mountain most had never heard of. She had attended meetings with her sire and dam to see other herds with equally high-brow origins. She knew several traditional dances, could brave a political minefield, and was self-sufficient enough to have lasted this long on her own. This was a mare of proper manners, intelligence, and beauty.

And all of that was crushed briefly as she reverted to her foalish tendencies.

"Perian!" Ithil cried gleefully, trotting closer as if to inspect this phenomenon. "To think, you were a creature of legend, and yet now stand before me as true as the grass I stand on!"

One second later, she remembered herself, cleared her throat, and attempted to re-piece her collected self together. "Suilaid, Delnar," Ithil tried again, more calmly though still with that hint of excitement. "I am Ithil. I have never seen one of your kind before. Is this your land?"

Being new to the land and a mixed breed that many had not previously seen Delnar was quite used to Soquili taking curious looks at him. Yet this mare had the exuberance of a foal as she got closer to him. He wasn't sure what she said at first that term was not familiar, in fact her voice had a distinctive accent that told him she was not from around here. Of course when she called him a creature of legend he was a bit shocked. What did she mean by that? Delnar cocked his brows but otherwise remained silent as she inspected him and spoke.

As she introduced herself Delnar smiled once more. "It is a pleasure to meet you Ithil." He gave his head another dip before continuing. "This is not my land, I am merely traveling through. However my kind is new to these lands so perhaps that could explain why you have not seen my kind before." Then two questions formed in his mind that he just had to ask. "I must ask you, what does 'perian' and 'suiliad' mean? I am not familiar with these terms. And you called me a creature of legend, what did you mean by that?"

He fell silent for just a moment before continuing. "Perhaps I resemble a creature from legends of you land," he could only assume she wasn't from around here based upon her accent and strange words, "but as far as I know Putti's and Minicorns are not special enough to be legends. Being a mix of the two simply makes my appearance different."

So she was not the only one to first witness this species! Puttis, he called them, minicorns. Ithil could gather that they were probably the two main species from whence he had been created. "My apologies, I slip into the native tongue when flustered. Perrian, a halfling. Suiliad, a greeting."

Ah, there went the youthful smile again as the mare grew animated. "You resemble them almost to a T, Master Delnar," she replied. "Though the horn and wings are . . . different. If these are not your lands, where are they? How many more of you exist? What are your customs?"
