Roch had been doing a bit of research since he'd gotten the part in the play. Well, he guessed you could call it a part, in reality he had gotten exactly what he wanted, and that was better than any prancing, dancing part you could get in the play.
But it didn't change the fact that there was one of him and a dozen gnomes doing the music at the moment. Sure he could DO it, but there were some things that gnomes alone just couldn't--or wouldn't do. This is where he would need a bit of help.
And that was why he was standing in front of Edel's room, wondering once again if he shouldn't buy a coat just for times like these. He reached up between rubbing his arms for warmth, and knocked on her door.
Danny would probably kill him, but he didn't really care. This was MUSIC.

Ah yes the play. Edel was not so much thrilled that she got the role she auditioned for (seeing how she was the only person who did.... and did so almost under obligation), but she was serious about it and had started to practice in whatever way she could.
It was snowing exceptionally heavily in her dorm that day.
The knock on the door came as a surprise for the frost demon; she never had any visitors before. Unless .... Don't tell me its the boogeymen, the ghoul became a little nervous at the thought of it. She had assumed she sent Moure a perfectly innocuous looking letter during her trip home, but perhaps they didn't think so. Either way, there was only one way to find out.
The door creeped open very slowly and once Edel had a good look at Roch who was standing outside (and freezing), the door was opened much more quickly, letting out a gust of cold wind at the Reaper. “Roch?” an unexpected guest indeed. Edel was about to ask if he would like to come in but then she realised that the boil was already shivering. Lucky for him that the frost demon had a coat to spare. She wondered if she should invest in one for visitors, if she were to have more visitors arounds.
Edel couldn't quite decide what to do after she handed him the coat and the two were left standing in the corridor, one inside the room and the other outside the door.

He slipped the coat on, wrapping his arms around his body as he tried to warm up long enough to speak. "I--I wanted to ask a favor," he said, his teeth almost but not quite chattering. Jack her room was freezing! He was used to being broiled, not frozen when he came to the demon dorms! "Can we--ah--go to the piano room?" he almost begged.
He was okay with fire, even after dying from it, but snow? Not so much. Probably from having Danny as a best friend, he thought. "It's about the play."

Edel's eyebrows arched up at the mention of a favour. She couldn't quite understand until he continued to clarify that it was about the play – maybe the Reaper wanted to learn how to dance? Then again, probably not.
“Oh, right. A moment please,” she disappeared into her room and popped back out again, locking the door behind her. The coat was still on Roch but there was no harm in him continuing to wear it with her around.
“About the play you say?” she asked as the two made their way to the piano room.

"Yeah," he said, warming up quickly, even with her there. It wasn't nearly as cold as her room was. "I've been looking at the scores, there's a lot of violin in them, and sure, I'll be messin' around with it, converting it to my guitar and all, but I figured I could use a GOOD violinist for one or two of the songs on top of the gnomes I'll be workin' with."
He seemed to assume she knew he was doing the music for the play, but hell, she'd seen the list just like everyone else. "I was hopin, when you aren't dancin' around lookin pretty, you might give me a hand once in a while?"

“You should have said so earlier then!” she stopped in her tracks, her wide eyes staring at Roch. “My violin's in the room, oh and yes I'd be more than happy to help”
Edel would have turned back to get her instrument but ah, they've walked so far already. Perhaps the piano room might have a violin lying around? “Would you have the scores with you perchance?” she enquired. It dawned upon her that this was the FMC President asking after all, she really didn't want to disappoint. Practice, lots of practice!

"Um, yeah," Roch said, frowning slightly. Then he took the coat off, handing it to her, and pulled the almost flat backpack off of his back. It was a bit strange, how the boil had taken to wearing it with him everywhere he went, but he had. He dug through it for a while, then pulled out a stack of papers, offering it to her.
"But--" he said quickly, "this is the original score. I'm going to make some changes on it, hell, I already have. So we'll have to go over those on the songs you want to work on. I was also thinkin' I could get Rikki in on this, maybe a few others if I need to. I got gnomes, but--" He made a face. "Well at least they won't be gropin' MY a**."

Edel took her coat back, nodding as she listened. “Hmm, how about meeting you in the piano room later while I hurry back to get my violin?”
Rikki? Edel didn't quite know who the reaper was referring to but she would just assume that he was one of the FMC Club members. Quite likely a friend too. Edel nodded and smiled awkwardly at Roch's last comment. TMI, man, TMI.

"Er, yeah, you might want to stand next to me when you're playin," he added belatedly. "But yeah, I'll just get goin, then," he said, heading out the door. He wanted to get his notes out before she showed up, letting him look like he actually knew what he was doing.
Which, well, he sort of did?

“Alright, thank you” she whispered under her breath, nodding and taking her leave. The frost demon walked back to her room very briskly and chucked the coat on the table before she left again with her violin. The ghoul hurried back to the piano room, noticing that Roch had already taken out the notes and began working on them.
“I'm back,” she breathed, heading towards the Reaper to see what he had gotten down so far.

The table in front of the beanbag chairs was covered with papers, which were covered with scribbles in red. The punk in question was overseeing the mess of papers as if he knew exactly what was where, and where it needed to be. "Okay," he said, glancing up at her.
"There's one song in particular that I'd love for you to give me a hand with." He pulled out a few sheets from the mess and handed them over. "This is the Dance of the Sugarpumpkin fairy," he told her. "I need to talk to the dancer sometime, too. But I only have one violinist, which really blows, because I want to use two... Do you mind playing against a gnome?" he asked her.

Edel won't lie about being quite impressed with how deep in work Roch was. It motivated her to do a good job too. The ghoul quietly took the sheets the reaper handed her, recognising some parts of the score to the classic piece. It was definitely different though, interesting in fact, with what Roch had done to it. The frost demon busied herself with reading the violin parts of the score before looking up to answer the reaper's question.
“No, not at all.” The ghoul could understand Roch's disappointment about lacking another violinist, and though she was slightly convinced she couldn't possibly be the only violin player around in school, they would just have to make do for now.
Placing the sheets down on a corner of the very filled table, the ghoul set her violin case down and opened it, pulling the instrument out. Ah, she thought, looking around and spotting a stand she could use to place the sheets on. Within the next few minutes the ghoul was already striking up the first parts of the melody.

He was working with what he had in the club, actually. They hadn't had any new sign-ups, which he was really failing at. He leaned back, listening to her for a moment as he thought about the club. "We need to have another tryout," he said abruptly. "What really blows is that we haven't had the chance to meet since before the field trip."
He frowned, thinking about it. "I wonder who else I could drag into this," he said after a moment. He would shamelessly take over the music for the play his way, including all the connected aspects. Especially gnome protection for the ghouls (and possibly boils) he would be dragging into this.
"I gotta see G sometime," he said abruptly. "Oh, um, do you want that copy? Or would you prefer to copy the notes in your own handwriting?"

The ghoul stopped as soon as Roch spoke, turning around to face him. “Another tryout would be good, there have been a few fresh faces around school – I wonder if they'd like to join too.” Oh look who was talking, the ghoul had barely completed six months of school here herself. As for having more regular club meetings ... Edel couldn't really say anything about that.
Edel left Roch to ponder while he did; she hadn't really seen the serious side of him since now and it was starting to change her opinion of him.
G? More name dropping but Edel wouldn't know who the reaper was talking about. But that was probably just Roch talking to himself.
“Oh I'll be fine with this copy, thank you.” she answered with a grin. Edel wasn't too particular when it came to these sort of things, seeing the reaper's own annotations might give some light to what he was envisioning. Also, he had funky handwriting.
A question for Roch had been creeping at the back of her head, but the frost demon decided that it wasn't the time for it now.

"Alright," Roch said. He would have called G if he actually had a phone, but he was pretty sure the big guy wasn't technically inclined. Oh well. It'd have to wait. "Any questions?" he asked her, suddenly. "I want to help any way I can, y'know? I'm the one that dragged you into this, even though you've got another thing to do in the play already. The smoother I can make this for you, the better."
