Reine woke up somewhere close to noon to see a message notifying her of pod duty. All she really wanted to do was flop over and go back to sleep, but duty was duty, and Reine couldn't shirk duty, no matter how much she disliked it.

Grumbling, she pulled herself off the bed and dressed, then stepped out of the room. Locking the door, she set off down the hallway towards the pod room. Hopefully it wouldn't be too boring.. or traumatising. Caelius didn't walk around looking for victims to shove into pods, did he?

It wasn't long before she reached, and Reine settled down in front of the displays, making herself as comfortable as she could.

Tori had just gotten back from her shower when she had gotten a message that she had pod duty today and was total wishing for at least another hour before having to go. But she knew that there could be consequences for not going and that was something she didn't want at all.

Quickly she getting dressed as she left her hair up for last and also quickly braided it up still slightly damp. She knew it would take forever to dry, oh well she would have to do something with it later on. Locking the door behind as she set off to the pod room. Tori had thought to bring a book and a notebook with her, because she didn't know if it would be boring or not.

Finally she had gotten to the room after getting herself lost until she asked for a little help. Walking in Tori saw that there was another trainee the one that had disobeyed orders on there first mission. Growing more nervous the farther in she walked as she didn't know what to say at all.

"Umm, Hi. I see that we have pod duty together. I'm Victoria," she finally said still clearly nervous as she played with her hands as she tried to keep her thoughts positive and not to how bad of an impression she was making.

Reine jumped a little when she heard another voice call out- she wasn't aware that someone else would have been here. And then she grinned broadly.

She swiveled around slowly on the chair, her arms resting on the sides.

"Hello," Reine purred, trying to sound creepy. She'd always wanted to mimic that particular scene, and that had been the perfect chance. After a minute or so of awkward staring, though, Reine laughed, then stuck her hand out, as if waiting for Victoria to take it.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Reine." The other girl looked somewhat nervous- somehow, the way she carried herself was different from the strays she'd met, which must mean that Victoria was from the same batch?

"C'mon, you can sit here!" Still smiling, she rolled her chair over towards another one, and patted the seat. "All we gotta do is watch these faces, right?"

Tori had jumped in a little fright as it was something she wasn't expecting when the other trainee turned around in her chair as it brought back a flash of a bad memory. Then hearing the other girl laugh, as she gave a little sheepish grin as she took the hand offered to her.

"Its nice to meet you as well," Tori replied as she was gathering her thought again and to make the bad memory go away again, even Aklin helped in putting it back were it belonged as he just chuckled at her for the reaction she had give the other girl.

"Alright," Still feeling a little nervous and sheepish at her reaction and sat down on the chair Reine patted. "That is what I was thinking. It looks to be a little dull, but that is ok,"

"Whoops," Reine chuckled. "Did I scare you?" The other girl looked slightly jumpy- which was completely understandable; the pod room was scary enough on its own.

At least, Reine had gotten lucky so far, being assigned a partner for duties. She couldn't imagine being in the pod room alone- okay, not alone- but that just made it scarier, all the possibly hundreds of silent people sleeping behind her. As if they were watching her or something. Even with their eyes closed. It was genuinely creepy.

"I'm just kinda glad they're humans, you know? It's scary, but imagine if we were keeping guard over monsters in pods." Reine frowned thoughtfully, then looked towards the monitors.

"Hey..." Her eyes went towards A4, and then A12.

"Is there anyone you're waiting for?"
PostPosted: Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:48 am

"You did as I wasn't expecting it as its alright," Tori replied sheepishly as she tried not to show her nervousness anymore that it was and trying to keep her mind from total reverting to spouting off random facts.

Besides the maintenance duty this had been her first duty that she had done so far as she was glad to have company for it, she knew if alone she would have just read or something and Aklin was glad for her meeting other and not having quiet time as he sometimes found her reading boring. Also Tori didn't like the pods all that much as it to her represented her time when she was truly still all alone and that wasn't something that she wanted to go back to anytime soon.

"No there isn't anyone that I'm waiting for," Tori replied a little sadly as she looked at the monitors of all the sleeping people. She had encountered others but never long enough to know who they were or she just didn't want to remember.

"I'm sorry," Reine giggled, clearly not very sorry- then straightened up a bit in her chair, trying to look more serious- they were on duty after all, and couldn't afford to joke around too much, in case something happened.

Besides, there were probably security cameras around... the thought sent a chill down Reine's spine. Watching people who were... watching people. It seemed kind of surreal.

"I've still sorta got my fingers crossed they'll wake up," she said brightly. "I miss them, sort of.. but at the same time, I guess they're safe where they are." The other girl looked a little sad, and Reine frowned, racking her brains for something else to talk about. She'd been really lucky, she supposed, to have had the others with her during the trial- not everyone else would've experienced that.

"So, how're you finding this place?" Reine tapped her fingers lightly on the desk in front of her, then looked to Victoria. Maybe she'd have things to share.

Tori just had to smile a little more as the joke was on her but she didn't mind all that much. Still nervous, but was getting less so the more Reine giggled as it was soothing to her and strange to her all at the same time. It had been a very long time since she had heard anyone giggle even coming from herself. "I also answer to Tori as well," she said sheepishly as it was a name she really preferred but would still answer to both names.

"Well good luck to you for them waking up," she replied as she didn't look as sad any longer. "Your right about that but maybe eventually you will see them again and have lots of catching up with," she added as she sorta wished that she did have someone, but she fine with it as it was what fate decided the outcome of everything.

"Well I was approached after I had ran away from home and decided for myself that I no longer wanted to be my parents puppet, if that is what you mean," she answered still a little nervous as she played with hands as she looked at Reine. "How about you?"

"I like that," Reine smiled. "Tori. It's cute, and it suits you better somehow!" Minnie, Tori, Jerry, Bobby, Evie. Julie. Maddie? Everyone had nicknames ending with -ie, or they were just named that way. Though she supposed that if she tried to continue the trend, it would be "Reiney", and she didn't quite like that, somehow. It just didn't have the same kick to it. Ottie. Jordy. Weirdddd.

"They will when they're ready, I guess!" Reine didn't often believe in fate, but there were some things you couldn't push- mostly things to do with other people.

"You ran away?" It wasn't anything particularly uncommon, but if given the choice, Reine thought she might actually run back home. At least just for one more time. "Tough home life, huh?" She could be sympathetic; after all, she'd technically run away from home when she was eleven or so, leaving her dad and Petra behind. "I hope you're doing better here, at least."

Swiveling around in the chair- some things you just didn't grow out of- Reine made a thoughtful face. "I thought it was the best way to leave what I didn't want to deal with behind, I guess." Reine almost disliked herself for saying that- she wouldn't get anywhere being an escapist. It wasn't that she regretted making the decision to come here- rather, she would've liked it to have been for a different reason than 'escaping'. But the past was the past, and there was no point whining about it.

"I'm glad we're all here together, though."

Tori did blush a little as she smiled some that blushing as she had hardly gotten a complement like that before. "Thanks and I feel the same way," she replied as she scratched the back of her head as she tried to get her blushing under control. It had been a nickname she had given herself once she had ran away, because she wanted something of a new start.

She just nodded as that was true as well, but she knew that waiting would be hard for Reine but all good things come to those that wait.

"I did," Tori replied, thinking on how much she was going to say but Aklin kept on poking her just to get over it and not to worry so much. "It was, I was expected to be something that I wasn't and was housebound for most of my life even more so when I started to see shadows," she answered and was glad to leave that all behind. "I am. As I'm no longer all alone,"

Curious to Reine swiveling around in her chair as that did look a little fun as she copied to what Reine had done. Also she was listening to what she was saying too. "It sound sorta why I ran away, I just no longer wanted to be and do what my parents wanted me to do," she said she stopped spinning as she had gotten dizzy to look back at Reine.

"Me too, as I have met so many different people and I'm just loving it all."

"That's the way!" Reine grinned at Tori, flashing her a thumbs-up. "It sucks to have expectations forced on you," she agreed. "I can't imagine being house-bound.." Even back before the move, Reine had more-or-less been allowed to run free. Beaten up by her dad, sure, but there had always been those amazing times spent playing with Robert, or just exploring the forest.

"I know how that is- they wouldn't believe me, either. Told me to grow up and stop being such a whiny brat. But the shadows are real- we know that much now!" Moving over, she gave the other girl a quick hug, then let go, wheeling her chair back a bit. She almost felt a little protective of Tori- no one deserved to be locked up. Even if Deus Ex Machina didn't really allow for freedom or seeing the world and things like that, Reine supposed it was a step forward. At least, here you were allowed to be yourself, as long as it didn't break any rules.

"People are pretty cool, huh!" She smiled, remembering the people she'd met herself. "Except the higher-ups, they're all kinda weird." Reine made a face. "Like Caelius and the Doctor."

Tori smiled a little more as Reine was just so kind and Tori was liking her more and her nervousness melted away. "Your right about that one, as it was never fun and being house-bound was the worst thing everything. A lonely place even if the house was full of people," she added as Aklin murred as to reinforce that she wasn't along any longer.

"Me too, except that I was treated like I was crazy and took to books to make them all think I was normal. But that is all in the past now," Tori replied as she was total caught off guard when Reine had quick hug. Blushing again as she can't remember ever being hugged before. "That is true and learning on how to battle them to defeat them in the long run," she added. She didn't mind the not so much freedom, but that she could be herself and it was something she chose.

"You are right about that one!!" Tori added as she smiled a little more at all the cool people she had met so far. "True, but they might have a reason to be so, but who really know," she said. "But I will tell you this that both of them scare me somewhat," Tori confessed in a whisper to Reine as she didn't know who could be listening in on them.

"Right?" Reine smiled wryly. "I always thought the loneliest place was in the middle of a crowd, really. Surrounded by people who don't know you- and don't care about you, it makes you feel that much more alone."

At least, if you were really alone, you could pretend it was out of choice.

"You're like me, kinda!" No wonder they were both life hunters. "I loooooved books. I'd hide out in the library the whole day sometimes, and then eventually, I kind of just stayed in the lab whenever I didn't have class."

Tori had mentioned, though, that she hadn't been allowed out of the house.. did that mean she hadn't gone to school, either?

"We'll beat them, all right." Reine felt it was the perfect moment to quote the poster on her wall. "The fight isn't over until we win!!" Grinning, she looked to Tori again encouragingly. "We can do it! All of us!"

Tori smiled more as that was total how she felt most of the time in her old life. "That is total right about that. I once had one person that cared until they were taken away," she answered as she tried not to dwell on that thought for long.

She had gotten excited to here that Reine also loved books too. "Very cool as I also just love books too. My tutors would get so pissed when I would be reading a book and not pay attention to them, but there were times I didn't care at all," Tori had answered thinking to the books that she liked and hope to read more of them. "So what type of books do you like to read?"

Hearing the word class also got Tori excited as that ment that Reine when to school. "I was wondering if you don't mind me asking, what is school like? I was mostly tutored or self taught,"

"That is so right on that!!" Tori grinned as she was starting to like Reine more and more as it felt good. "That we can and we shouldn't never give up too,"

"I'm sorry," Reine said, looking worriedly at Tori. Taken away.. she had no idea whether to ask, or not; while she didn't mind listening, she didn't want to probe too much- after all, it really wasn't any of her business. That, and she didn't want to potentially drag up old memories.

"Hahahah, tutors." She winked at Tori and flashed the girl a thumbs-up. "Well, you get to pick what you read, I assume, which means you're interested in it- while tutors kind of just teach you stuff you might not like?" Reine didn't know much about what home-schooling was like, so it was just a guess.

"School's... wow, hm. I've never had to describe it to anyone before." She tapped her fingers on the desk, frowning thoughtfully. "I guess.. school's.. it's a big place, and there's lots of people, and sometimes classes are nice, but sometimes you get awful teachers?" School had felt... well, normal to her; just one of the many places she went to, and one she wasn't that attached to. She'd spent lots of time there, for sure, and she did enjoy most of what she did there, especially in college, but in the end school was just.. school.

"I mostly kept to myself anyway," she finished weakly. Not very helpful at all.
