Here we are again. A year later, and HoA is in need of colorists once again. The main thread is up to 5,000 pages, and growing every day, with a stream of regulars demanding more production. We're struggling to keep up without burning ourselves out on crazy mass-production events. (See the February Mating event or last August's Unlimited Flat for examples.)
At this point, the staff comes up with the majority of the events and work together to pull them off, but King Azreth is around to keep staffers in line and the job rotations going smoothly.
HoA is also working towards opening up an OC thread where Azrein Chosens are created on official linearts of their own. When this takes off, more colorists will be needed then, but that's a story for another hiring thread.

Well, well, well.
Here we are, in December, and Herds of Azreth won't stop growing. In only eight months, we've over 2,4oo pages, have over 3o Regulars, and have about 5oo Azrein!Now, as you all know, I run the show. With managing the shop, keeping up with the website, making new lines and templates, managing the staff, and coming up with events, roleplay, and metaplot ideas, I honestly don't have the time to color as much as I'd like.
Kira's heading out to England to train for Disney for a month, Sakura sadly left Gaia, Puddsy's running Sylvia for an unknown amount of time, Pykichi's going on vacation, and Nyxie is trying out for Soquili! [Cross your fingers for Nyx, guys! She deserves it!]
That leaves me with only a few exceptionally talented colorists that will drop anything and everything for one of my whims, and a few just aren't enough for my whimsical nature. Actually, they're not enough for how big the shop is. -coughs-SO. I've pulled rank and have decided to hire on a few Guest Colorists and Part-Timers -- which will eventually lead to a Full-Time position if said applicant is interested [ and are talented and dedicated, of course!].
Read on to find out how to apply, what to expect, and what kind of s**t to take from the mouth of yours truly.●●●● Some Quick Terms:/ / . Azrein - Our horses. This is both singular and plural.

With over 2,ooo pages and 3o+ Regulars, we've come quite a way from when we started.
I'm the Owner / Creator, Azreth. My real name is Chris, I'm old enough to drink, and am a sexy, sexy man, thank you very much. I'm a hopeless romantic, honor-bound, and am a shameless flirt [but chivalrous in my flirting!].
I believe in running a shop Hands-On. That means that the Subjects see me at LEAST once every two days, and I'm always RPing, interacting, Livestreaming, and teaching them about how to run a shop, how to color, edit, template, etcetc.
I also expect my staff to follow in my footsteps. We're a super friendly, drama-free shop. We also just released a WEBSITE for our more dedicated RPers.
We do tons of events, and we realize that without our Subjects, there wouldn't BE an HoA.

Herds of Azreth is a fast-moving shop. Generally, we have staff meetings once a week to figure out how best our time is managed. We need active colorists, even if you only want to be a Guest.

Honestly, this is more important than being active, even. We have had amazingly talented colorists in the past that have joined our crew, and taken on responsibilities, and then disappeared, leaving the rest of the staff to pick up their slack. It's not fair to the staff that are committed to the shop, and it's especially not fair to the regulars who must wait extended amounts of time for what they were promised to be delivered.
/ / . Fill Out The Form To Apply.
Post it in THIS THREAD once it's completed. It's okay to post one sample at first, then go back and add in more as you work! Just be sure to at least post a total of THREE samples on the Official Application Lines!
/ / . Be HONEST About What You Can And Can't Do.
]Don't tell us you can edit epic dragon wings onto an Azrein, and then let us down. We would MUCH rather we hire you knowing what you can and can't do -- ultimately, it's the Subjects who suffer, and everything we put out is done to the best of our abilities.
/ / . YOU MUST HAVE THE PROPER PROGRAMS TO APPLY.
You must must MUUUST have a program that can handle PSD's. Not only that, but one that can create and edit both layers, groups, and folders. [If this is a huge issue, and we love your work, the King has a copy of CS2 laying around somewhere..]
/ / . We ALSO all communicate via AIM [AOL Instant Messenger]. Whether you use AIM itself or a website like Meebo, that's fine. But I am in contact with my staff just about EVERY day -- so this is a necessity.

●●●● This will be a three-part Hiring Event.
/ / . We are Hiring Guest Colorists, Full-Time Colorists, and Part-Time Colorists, with a chance to move on to being Full-Time.
/ / . First, applicants will color at least three Azrein on the provided lines.
If we like what you've done, we will contact you via PM or AIM, asking you to move onto the second stage.
/ / . The first version of the provided lines are NOT shaded, and this is for a reason. We want to see what you can do WITHOUT a template. A bangin' shading job might skew a bad color combination or pattern, and we want to see everything completely unbiased.
/ / . NOTE: You DO NOT HAVE TO SHADE. We work with templates on each of our Azrein, but we just want to see how you color and edit without influence from our personal templates. Buuut, if you WANT to shade, we won't say no!
/ / . However, if you feel you would MUCH rather apply using the templated Application, just download the second file -- they're the exact same image, only one is templated and the other isn't.
/ / . During the second stage, we will ask that you do a breeding [only 1 - 2 foals] or a single custom example, using already-made Azrein. You will be given our retired foal lines to create the foals, and our retired adult for the custom. These lines will be templated.
/ / . During the third stage, you will be required to color an Azrein from our current set of lines. These lines will of course be templated. From there, if all goes well, you're hired!

PLEASE NOTE: We still have Part-Time and full-Time Colorists. However, new Colorists are started as Proteges, while our older Colorists are Seniors. This is no elitist bullshit; you will work closely to learn the ropes about working with the staff and for HoA.
Since we're a big [and rapidly-growing] shop, we might do things differently then you're used to. But don't worry! That's why you're paired with a Senior based on skill, style, and personality~
The only difference between Full and Part time is how much money you make. Obviously, the more Azrein you do, the higher your Commission is.
●●●● Hiring Advances
/ / . If you're hired on as a Guest Colorist, you will get a one-time 25,ooog advance.
/ / . If you're hired on as a Part-Time Colorist, you'll be given a one-time 5o,ooog advance.
/ / . If you're hired on as a Full-Time Colorist, you'll be a given a one-time advance of 1oo,ooog.
●●●● Colorist Perks
/ / . Create your own moderate - heavy edited custom for yourself. You may do this AFTER you have been with us for three weeks.
/ / . May color one edited custom for a friend. You may do this AFTER you have been with us for three weeks.
/ / . As a Colorist, you make points for each Azrein colored or Event hosted. These points gets you things like free Breedings, Customs, [for yourself or others!] and time off!
●●●● Colorist Requirements
/ / . Must have 1 Custom Slot [3 for Full-Time] open per month.. No Bribe Slots For Part-Time or Guest.
/ / . Must be able to turn out 3 Unedited Flatsales per month. We prefer if all stages are done at once, but it isn't necessary.
/ / . FULL-TIME, you MUST be able to Edit -- even if it's just minor things like jewelry and feathers and such.
/ / . You must be able to participate in Staff Meetings -- these are anywhere from once a week to once a month.
/ / . You must get along with and have a positive attitude to Regulars and Staff.
/ / . We need to be able to get in contact
●●●● The Difference Between Protege and Senior Colorists
/ / . So, the difference between a Protege and Senior Colorist is easy. You're a Protege until you co-host two big events, and get the go-ahead from Azreth.
/ / . Basically, you'll either pair yourselves up together, or Azreth will pair you up based on style. And remember -- Seniors have JUST as much to learn from Protege's as the other way around. This is so that all of the staff can grow together, and never stop learning new techniques.
/ / . Not to mention it'll bring us all closer. <3
/ / . As a Protege, you will have a Senior as a mentor. Now, that doesn't mean we'll be breathing down your necks or anything, but HoA might be different from other shops you've worked at. We're absolutely dedicated to putting out the highest quality of art we can, and we think that having a mentor will really help you get settled in.
/ / . As a Senior, you'll be expected to show your Protege how we host our Events, how to manage customs, breeding, and certing, and basically just teach them the ropes. You'll also be required to work with them -- and learn from them as well!

►What do you think is your biggest challenge / weakness? Really, it's my lack of experience...been doing this only for a total of close to 2 years (with alot of haituses inbetween bouts only cause I was caretaking my grandma's house and lost the net, followed by the death of my 15 year old computer...good excuse to get the lappy I got now! XD)
►What do you think you're totally epic at doing / your greatest strength? I would say my greatest strength is that I'm willing to give something a try, and the fact that though I had NO experience whatsoever coloring via computer when I started, so I say I'm doing fairly decent overall. I can't say what I can and can't do edits wise till I at least give it a shot...I'm still finding out what my greatest strengths are when it comes to doing this type of work, and I promise to give my all to it!
►Time Required/How Fast/Slow do you work?: This varies only with how bad or far behind I am in school, because that will come first (I'm so close to graduation!). I try to get things done asap, and I do give people wips...however, I am fast on those that don't require edits...anything requiring edits, and i get picky since I wanna give good work to my customer, and not something half-assed. wink
►Do you foresee any problems in the future with producing the amount of Azrein required or getting things done in a timely fashion? Only if I lose net, and my fiance kidnapps me...otherwise no. XD

►Time Required/How Fast/Slow do you work?: This all unfortunately based on my current mood and how tired I am with work/inspired. In a good day I can easily color 3 or 4 good quality simple pets or 2 moderately edited ones. On a bad day it can take me a week. >.<
►Do you foresee any problems in the future with producing the amount of Azrein required or getting things done in a timely fashion? The only problem I can see me having is my work schedule, I work most days, usually between 6am CT and 3pm CT. I also have a clingy BF who gets jealous when I spend too much time on my computer.
►Why do you want to work here? I like horses and I like how structured this shop is, It's always nice to find a shop with clear concise expectations for it's colorists, along with how focused on RP it is as well.
►Comments:All pets from the "Other Samples" are property of their respective owners. I have a serious like of natural colors and patterns <3 <3 <3 Also... penguins. [Added] I just remembered, on the 23rd of this month I will be leaving for CT for the Holidays, I don't know if I will have internet access during this time, if I do I may be scarce on some days as I am visiting my family. Since I can't afford to have my own though some of my friends have some, I'd say that the B/C horses here are my pets xD It will also increase my B/C shop experience where I can improve on my coloring, editting, and interacting with others on gaia. It also seems cool to be working in one of the larger horse shops other than Soquili.

►What do you think you're totally epic at doing / your greatest strength? I believe I'm good with matching styles. I'm quick to adapt to a shop, if that makes sense. Art wise I would like to think my designs are my strongest point. Just having a pet that looks snazzy concept wise.
►Time Required/How Fast/Slow do you work?: It depends on my work schedule but I do try to complete things in a timely fashion.
►Do you foresee any problems in the future with producing the amount of Azrein required or getting things done in a timely fashion? I might be leaving for a week to go visit my mother on Dec. 28th BUT if need be I can easily pack up my little tablet. In the long run I don't see me going anywhere.
►Why do you want to work here? Well, it would be great practice for me, edit-wise. The shop is active, and I look for that specifically when I apply places.

ESPECIALLY if they are on weekends. i work in retail, and this close to christmas. my life is all sorts of tossing, turning, and complete chaos. but m, t, th, fri evenings i am around.

first sample is the unshaded template to show you what i can do. honestly, it's not as well templated as some of my other work because of it's being so big. i've not attempted my method on such large lineart before. guess i need more work. x

►What do you think is your biggest challenge / weakness? honestly is mostly edits. in regards to shading is mastering light source and which way it moves/reflects on things; and if i had to say another, super sharp/clean markings

►um.. i work pretty quick... the idea of slowing down and doing anything slow is like... waiting for pigs to fly
►Do you foresee any problems in the future with producing the amount of Azrein required or getting things done in a timely fashion? I don't.. but then again.. i'm only applying for guest status. there is a small possibility of me guest coloring somewhere else for a bit as well
►Why do you want to work here? um. well, i'd have to say because it's a shop filled with lots of friends and people i know. the environment is rather refreshing in comparison to .. well just places left unmentioned.
►Comments: I am a mom in real life. In fact, I also have a husband, and these two guys come first. so there are lots of time during the year i have to do lots of school activities or family situations.
