Kyndall was sure no one realized how stressful Thanksgiving was on moms. Or on teachers. While her students got a week off to have fun and frolic in the cold and stuff themselves with turkey Kyndall still had staff meetings. She still had to find time to organize things for the drama club and their production in just two short months. She needed to plan out Thanksgiving dinner for herself and Harmony and had to shop, cook, clean, and organize. This was no amount of time off for her. Between all of this and patrolling she was beat. It was all she could do to pour herself onto the couch at the end of the night with a glass of wine that was usually barely touched in the morning and an old movie playing on TV.

She was headed home now, determined to take the night off and actually enjoy herself. Tomorrow she'd be cleaning up a storm and trying to get things ready for a long winter in with Christmas around the corner. She didn't even want to think about Christmas. Christmas was the devil. Unthinkable. Sneaky b*****d that snuck up on you when you weren't looking making you realize just how far behind you really are.

Kyndall pitched forward and sprawled out on the sidewalk. She wasn't watching where she was going and her shoe heel got caught in a crack on the sidewalk. She lay dazed for a second before blinking and cautiously sitting up. The concrete was cold, obviously, but she checked to see if she was seriously hurt before she tried to get up. Other than her ego being bruised and her heckles rising that no one seemed interested in helping her up she was just fine.

Amazing how rude people were in this day and age!

She started gathering up her belongings: her purse, shopping bags, notebook and papers. She felt as disheveled as she probably looked. She tossed her green hair over her shoulder and picked herself up again, taking a few deep breaths before she did. She hoped no one she knew saw that even though it really wasn't her fault.

Thanksgiving was no time off for Benitoite, even as a cat. He was busy wandering the city tonight, after having a warm meal curtsy of General Painite, when he saw a very familiar female with green hair. What the captain hadn't expected to see was her trip and fall, wincing as he watched her hit the ground, he moved forward as if to help but knowing he couldn't. It was the lack of help she got that had him kitty glaring at people as he mewed, quite loudly, at Kyndall.

He hoped she was ok, he didn't smell blood and she didn't seem hurt. But one could never be positive on what injuries a person was hiding, he knew that first hand with the few injuries he'd hidden himself. He knew it wasn't the wisest of ideas to make his presence known, to anyone who heard his loud mewing, considering his odd coloring but he wanted - no needed - her attention. So mew loudly he did, even as he moved in to position to follow her.

Maybe if he was lucky Christmas wouldn't be like this, he didn't like being a cat now with the cold and in December with snow on the ground he'd hate it even more. Were he to be turned into a cat again, that was if this was reversed before Christmas, he would not be going out into the December cold like this. It was cold enough as it was, he was one who liked the cold but when he was wearing the proper clothing! Thin fur was not proper by any stretch of the imagination. Another loud mew as blue eyes looked up at Kyndall.

Kyndall looked in wonder at the feline in front of her. Unusual blue coloring and unusual markings made her stare. Had he been spray painted? Even if she wasn't dazed she'd have wondered if possibly she was seeing things. The silverish marking down his legs looked to be in vines? Well, the one thing was for sure - if he was spray painted it was to good effect. Who knew? Maybe it was that nontoxic hair dye.

"Well aren't you pretty?" she exclaimed, bending to get a closer look and setting her things aside to not be a hindrance. She offered her hand for it to smell so it didn't freak out when she tried to pet it. It reminded her of someone or something but she didn't quite place it. Still, she liked cats and had nothing against them. She'd never owned one but that was circumstance more than choice. They were certainly allowed to with their rental history in the building. She kept everything very nicely upkept.

She reached out to stroke the cat's back, smiling to herself. She wondered how many people ignored him, too, to be out on his own. Kyndall really was a nice person. She couldn't help it. Her heart reached out to anything in trouble or needy. Including cats, it seemed. She didn't understand owners that let pets run away or kicked them out. She hoped he wasn't a homeless kitty.

"Poor thing." she commiserated, "All kicked out for Thanksgiving? That's a shame. If you don't mind I'll take you home. I'm sure you'll get along at my place just fine until we can figure out where you came from."

He didn't sniff the offered hand, he found smells so strong he tried to avoid putting his nose directly in to things for the most part; not to say Kyndall smelled bad. Rather he nuzzled her hand, keeping his nose as far from her as possible. He knew she was safe anyway, so fought the urge to sniff anyway. She was safe, he knew her. His dislike for the stronger smells winning he had nuzzled, mewing as he did so.

Arching his back up into her hand he looked her over and wondered if he could somehow get into her arms and get a ride home with her. Seemed he would be going home with her, that was good. He had already been to and inside her home once and it was nice, he wouldn't mind a return visit. He'd wait till it was safe, no one around, to speak and thank her. He couldn't do so while people were around and could hear and see him. If he thought his coloring stood out that was nothing compared to talking.

Seeming to understand the idea he made to leap at her, into her lap. It would be easier for her to carry him, then him having to walk fast to keep up with her; no matter what shape he was in.

He seemed very friendly to her and there was no residue from dye or paint. She had to imagine that the coloring was natural. It was fascinating to her and unusual in the grand scheme of things. As he arched up into her hand she knew she was melting for him.

She laughed as he leaped into her lap, feeling he was friendly enough to take home. She couldn't imagine how anyone would abandon something so sweet. He was smart, too, knowing a kindred spirit when he saw one. Or maybe he was just ready to be warm. She picked him up, trying to balance him with the other things she was carrying and set out for home.

It was a short walk and she mumbled her to do list to herself making corrections where she needed to and then rereciting it to herself until it was acceptable and mistake free. A lot of things she was and wasn't but she tried to be organized. She didn't always succeed but she always tried. When her building opened up ahead she set him down and fished for her keys, letting him go in first to check things out.

She stepped in after he did, closing the door and hanging her coat up on the nearby hook. She set her purse down and her other things on the doorside table and shook out her long mane of hair. The cold wasn't very good for it.

No the cold wasn't very nice, at least not when you were lacking in the layers department such as he was at present. Up until now he hadn't spoken a word to the woman who had brought him into her house, but now he felt safe enough and opened his mouth.

"Thank you, it's rather cold outside. While I must admit to having a place to go I much rather see where you live and thank you for several nights back." Perhaps more than several but that wasn't the point now was it? "I do hope it doesn't frighten you to have me in your home and knowing where you live, but I can assure you the information will be safe with me." He spoke, kindly, as he found himself bringing his tail round front to inspect and lick as he worked to clean his tail, which seemed clean really.

"And I must say you sound rather burdened with a lot of things to do. Is there anyway, despite my currant condition, I can lend an assist as a thank you for letting a strange cat into your home?" He needed something to do, aside from warm up. He didn't like not having something to do, and helping Kyndall in some way was a good way to thank her, right?

Turning his eyes to the green haired woman he waited to see if she freaked out or was able to place the voice, and his choice of words. Would she know it was him? Benitoite. Would she be happy to see him again? Or would she somehow not want him around and toss him onto the street? He doubted she'd toss him onto the street but there was that little voice in the back of his head which gave spark to just a tiny bit of doubt.

The only talking cats Kyndall had ever heard of were in Alice in Wonderland and in animated children's movies. She certainly never expected to encounter one in her own home. She could only stare in wonder for a moment thinking that this was pretty par for the course, now, in her life. She didn’t seem overly concerned by it but something about his markings seemed vaguely familiar. She just couldn’t place it yet. And she was still reeling from the idea that a cat was talking to her, eloquently.

Why would a cat knowing where she lived matter?

She immediately shook off his offer of help as most everything she had to do required thumbs. Things she had to do were like taking the turkey out to thaw or write up the Christmas list. Cleaning the house and making sure Ms. Lowell knew what time dinner was. But as she looked at him things seemed to click in her mind. She remembered those markings…

Benitoite?

If it wasn’t him she was making a fool of herself but she was amazed to see him as a cat. She was immediately a little worried about him knowing where she lived. He was Negaverse, after all, but she had hope for him to change and learn a better way.

"Yes, I'm surprised you didn't realize it a touch sooner. But thinking of a person being a cat...well I guess that can make anyone take their time in realizing. It would seem that something went wrong with some plan of those white moon senshi, or rather I think their cats." This said with the best glare and scowl he could form in place.

One paw raised and waved about in an absent manner. "I've been searching for answers...while also finding myself acting more and more like the feline I'm really not. At least it seems others are in my condition." He said, it was obvious from his tone of voice that this pleased him greatly.

Not for one moment did he think she may not want him here, in her home, knowing where she lived. He moved around as he looked over everything, as if he'd never been here before, he had to act as thought he'd never been here before and seen her house before.

"You act as if speaking to and spotting unusually colored cats is something I do all the time." she returned smoothly if not just a touch sarcastically.

Of course, if she were a cat suddenly she might be grumpy, too. She didn't want to fight with him even if he was part of the Negaverse because she loved him and only wanted to see him well. As such she scooped him up and cuddled with him for a moment, stroking him head to backside with long swipes of her slender hand.

"I've got just the cure for those blues," she promised, "Some yummy chicken and old movies until we fall asleep."

Auntie Mame, What A Way To Go, Desk Set. The classics. They always cheered her when she was down and was certain they'd do the same for him in his old world elegance. And food always did well for the soul, she found, and ones attitude. She set him down on the couch to nap if he pleased and went into the kitchen to take out some chicken she had thawed and throw it in the oven. Nothing fancy in the Rosen house but everything usually tasted good.

She went back to him when she could, petting him after putting in a movie. It was something she'd memorized long ago but enchanted her every time she saw it. She could spend a night relaxing with him. Forget her list, it would still be there tomorrow. She knew that well. While everything cooked she'd stretch out, idly petting him as long as he wanted her to.

"Of course it's not, but it should be obvious I'm not a normal colored cat. But honestly it matters little when compared to the fact I am a feline." Finding himself purring at the stroking he nuzzled his head into her neck, ears tucked back in contentment.

"Old movies, black and white classics?" He asked, wondering how old the movies she had in mind were. "And what ones?" Perhaps something he hadn't seen, maybe something he had. It wasn't something he made a habit of watching, old movies, but he did catch them on tv from time to time and would halfheartedly watch them.

Not tired but on the couch he curled up and looked around the living room. "May I ask what movies you have in mind?" He asked, speaking up from his place on the couch. "I'm rather curious." Even as he watched her put a movie into the player and started it, moving to lay up against her, his head moving to rest against her leg. This was nice, very nice and a very pleasant way to spend an evening, even if he was a cat.

"Are you sure it's ok to make whatever you were planning for your family?" Finally he blurted out the other thing on his mind, would Harmony be here and get to eat also? What would she say if she was here and saw him, a Negaverse agent? He didn't know what she thought of them after her time up in space. Would she hate him? Or be indifferent? He wasn't insecure but he did wonder, and was concerned about her opinion on him since she was a friend.

She started with Auntie Mame, putting the DVD in the player and letting it go. It was in color and was epically enchanting. Rosalind Russell was a genius with dialogue. Kyndall smiled as she watched it, petting Benitoite as she watched and happily resting. This was much nicer than running herself ragged. Who knew when Harmony would be home but the teen mostly disappeared into her studio or into her room with barely a glance at her mother. Kyndall wasn’t worried.

When the chicken was done she put it on a plate for them both with mashed potatoes ands gravy. She didn’t imagine Benitoite would find eating this way very dignified but it’s not like he could handle a fork, either. She cut the chicken up for him and set it on the table, pulling it close so at least he had that dignity. She’d want the same thing if she was in his shoes and his attitude toward catdom was already painfully obvious.

I hope you like it.

She didn’t know how long he’d been a cat but knew he would not settle for catfood. As the movie played she ate until she was pleased and then set her plate away. She’d clear it later. She gather the feline into her lap and laid back, letting him rest on top of her as she pet him and watched the movie. It was a good three hour epic so they had time to spend together and watch.

Purrfectly relaxing.

The movie had half his attention, the other half was on the smell of the food cooking, as he lay curled up at Kyndall's side. It was nice of her to take him in and offer him food, especially food which smelled quite good. He didn't say anything about it, as he was trying to put more focus into the movie playing. It didn't last long as Kyndall was up and getting food for them both.

Watching her return he sat up and turned his eyes on her. "Thank you." He was glad she had moved the table for him and allowed him the ability to eat as normally as he could, it was better then crouching over the food on the floor or something similar. She was letting him keep some dignity, was it on purpose? It had to be, hence the thank you he issued.

Sitting there he bent over his own meal and took a sniff. "It smells very good." And the first bite was taken, with a bobbing of his head in appreciation of the meal and it's taste. "I do like it, very much." His tail moved lazily behind him, against the couch cushion.

She lay on the couch and let the movie play as the darkness settled truly in, petting him as she let him rest on top of her. She cushioned her head on the pillow behind her and watched a movie she knew by heart. The time seemed to move by at a crawl and she pet him as long as she could before her hand finally dropped away from his furry body.

Kyndall Rosen finally fell asleep.

The woman who spent so much of her time catering to others and making lists finally found a moment to succumb to that most basic of needs: sleep.
