The snow created small drifts around the wooden boat that sat in the middle of the playground. It didn't have a sail, just a wooden mast that stuck into the air like a bony finger. There was a steering wheel and a lookout on the other end of the hull, and a place to enter. Six or seven feet away there was a second boat, this one has a couple steps up to a "lookout" and it faced the first one, as if to run it over. Minny jumped up and down as her brother Joshua ran for the closest boat, shouting "Avast! I be the captain of this ship!" Minny ran after him, shouting "No way! You always get that boat! And you always get to be the captain!" She followed him onto the boat, where he stood close to the opening in the railing. "Your walkin' the plank!" She said, gently pushing him over the edge.
He fell, crying out in mock fear and landed on the ground, pretending to drown. Finally he stopped moving and looked up at her, saying "Well now I be the captain of the zombie ship!" He sprinted to the other boat and took the wheel, shouting something about zombie pirates.
Minny took her place at her own wheel, pretending to come at him. The metal of the wheel felt cold even in her gloves hands, and her cheeks were rosy beneath her green eyes.
The snow became water before her eyes, the weird wood splintery stuff they put on playgrounds melted into blue waves. Joshua's boat had a sail that was tonr and mangled, the whole thing glowing with green light. He toow as zombified, bandages keeping his limbs from falling off. He also had an eyepatch. Her own boat was a pretty shade of gold, the sail big and puffy. "You'll meet Davey Jones soon!"
Their father sat on a bench with a book, smiling into the pages. Kids and their imaginations.

Lissy looked stupid and had been moaning about it since she left the house. Her mother had actually decided to make sure that she was dressed properly for once and then had to deal with a sulking daughter while a hat and scarf were put on Lissy. She eventually got the gloves on her as well as Lissy basically ran for the door.
Snow.
Lissy loved snow. The trouble you could cause with it! After all you can just hit people randomly with it and it not matter very much! She decided to head to the playground and see if anyone was about, after all with this snow about a snowball fight had to happen somewhere right? She rearranged the coat and hat and scarf so she wasn't being strangled and she was actually comfortable and warm then she smiled and set off to the park.
Arriving there she looked at the boats and saw Minny. At least someone she knew was here! She ran over and smiled.
"Hey!"

Captain Minny was just about to ram her ship into her brother's when a voice announced someone else joining the battlefield. Minny tore her eyes away form Zombie Captain Josh and saw Lissy coming toward her. She remembered Lissy from class, and rather liked her because she knew how to play pretend really well. She also liked to play pranks, but she never tried to play one on Minny, she the little girl still thought they were funny.
"Hi!" She shouted, waving at the blunette from the wheel. "We're playing pirates. Well, Josh is a zombie pirate, but still! Do you want to play? You can be the captain if you want!" She jumped down from the wheel and offered a hand for Lissy to get up on the boat. Minny much preferred that someone else be captain. That way, if they lost, it wasn't her fault.
"Avast!" came a shout from the other boat. Joshua was waving an invisible sword at the two girls. "This be unfair! I don't have a first mate of me own! So me and my zombie pirate army will come over there and steal one of your crew!" He shouted, tugging on the frozen wheel dramatically.

Lissy liked the idea of this game! She had seen it before on Pirates of the Caribbean!
"You need to throw bombs at them!" She took Minny's hand and jumped up on board. She then waved her pretend sword back at Minny's brother. "You shall never win Zombie boy!" She then turned to Minny and smiled.
"Quick load the canons!" She smiled waving around her pretend sword while tilting her pretend hat.
"We won't loose!"

"Loading the cannons!" Minny shouted, setting down her imaginary sword and picking up a double handful of snow. She fashioned it into a ball, then began on a second one which she placed in a row next to the first.
Joshua saw what Minny was doing and he too began to fashion snowballs, making a pile of the smallish balls next to his feet. "Load the cannons!" He shouted as well, arching his arm back.
Minny stood quickly and put a hand to her forehead in a salute, saying "Captain! The cannons are ready and loaded!" In her mind, the sea was rocking and she could hear the shouts of zombie pirates coming from the other ship.

Lissy looked at Minny and then her brother before shouting to some imaginary crew mate to take the wheel. She then went and crouched by Minny.
"Get down!" She then peeked over the top of the ship's side to Minny's brother and then looked down at the snow balls. Picking one up she looked at Minny and smiled before throwing one at her brother.
"BOMBS AWAY!"
She then did her best to make more snow balls and keep down so not to get hit by any that may possibly end up heading their way!

Minny hit the deck -literally- when Lissy said to. She too peeked over the side and saw Joshua preparing his weapons. But there were two of them! Even if he was a boy, he was playing the bad pirates and there were two of the good pirates, so they should win right?
That's usually how it worked with her senshi business. The good guys always won.
Minny mimicked Lissy's shout, taking up her own snowball and taking aim.The snowballs flew true, though one splattered against the side of the boat and the other was dodged by the Zombie Pirate Captain. He too grabbed some snowballs and lobbed them their way. His arm was a little stronger, and they flew farther then the girls'. One hit the wheel, the other went high.
"Round two!" Minny shouted, rolling and then firing another snowball. "This is fun!" She tossed Lissy a rushed and breathless smile, happy to have someone else to play with.

Lissy kept her head down smiling at the fact that they were going to win this battle, after all why wouldn't they win? She smiled to herself and then at Minny as Minny said about how much fun it was. She was right, it was awesome!
"Keep throwing I'm going to make more bombs!" After all if one was making and one throwing it meant they had a huge advantage right?
She crawled around the boat pulling all the snow towards her till she had a huge pile of it and then she started shaping it into balls ready for Minny to throw at her brother.
"We are going to win for sure!" Lissy was certain of that, after all she wasn't a child that liked to be wrong!

"We are going to win!" She agreed, lobbing another set of snowballs over the edge of the boat. One hit her brother in the side, and he squealed, flailing dramatically. Then he picked up a snowball and tossed it their way.
"I be a zombie pirate!" he jeered. "Your cannons can't kill me that easily!"
From the bench on the other end of the playground, their father smiled and flipped a page in his book. Where on earth did kids get their enthusiasm?
Minny ducked down, feeling a snowball go wizzing by her head. That was almost bad. She crawled to Lissy and picked up a couple snowballs, turning them over and admiring them. They were quite pretty; almost a shame to throw them.
But, her brother had to lose, so with a battle cry she threw with all her might.

Lissy was still making bombs as quickly as she could. She was rushing it really and some were falling apart when they were picked up but she was getting a little bored and so she wanted to help with the throwing.
"Die zombie pirate die!" She then lobbed some more snow in his direction. The girls were going to win oh yeah they were going to win!
She then ducked down again and tried to make some more. They were going to win, they had to win! They had to show that girls were better then boys all the time, even on ships!

Suddenly Josh was being pelted by two girls. He shouted, throwing his hands over his head and ducking. Lissy's aim was true and caught him in the shoulder, snow exploding over the hood of his jacket.
"Alright, ALRIGHT!" he called, putting his hands up as if he were being arrested. He stood on the deck of the play ship, and said "Ye win. I be goin quietly now." Instead of letting the girls take him captive, as Minny was keen on doing, he went to the back of the ship and tossed a mischievous smile over his shoulder before jumping off the back.
"He jumped ship!" Minny shouted, going to the side of her own boat. He was hiding now, pretending to have drowned. The girl turned back to Lissy, shrugging and saying "Well, we won! Even if the bad guy got away!"

Lissy watched as he jumped ship and pouted somewhat.
"That's rubbish!" She threw some snow after him anyway just because she could.
"Oh well guess that's over then..." What would they do now? Maybe they should go home? Now they had stopped playing she had realised that actually she was really cold!
"I should probably head home..." They would see each other at school anyway right?

Minny nodded and smiled, saying "Hey thanks for helping me defeat the pirate! We are a great team!"
Joshua came out from behind the other boat, running toward the two girls. "That was a lot of fun!" he said, panting from the run. He looked at Lissy and said "You've got good aim!"
Their father chose this moment to put his reading away, and stand, stretching out his stiff muscles. It really was getting too cold to be out here. His voice rang out over the snow, and brother and sister both twisted their heads to shout back at him.
Minny looked back at Lissy and said "Ok! See you later!" Probably at school. If the snow didn't cancel it.

They were going home too it seemed. Lissy smiled as Minny said goodbye and everything.
"Yep see you at school!" She smiled and then turned in the direction of home. She should probably go back sooner rather then later. She would catch up with Minny some other time. For now though home and warmth was very much needed!
