This is probably premature of me considering I don't have a working computer at the moment, but getting mine fixed is going to be my Christmas present. I don't know when exactly that's going to happen since money is tight for my family (luckily the parts I need are relatively cheap) but when I do get it back up and running I'd like to celebrate by kicking off the new year with a tournament. This will probably take place in February to allow time for the whole thing to be organized and to make sure every participant can make the time (I don't know how many tournies you guys have had while I was gone but the last one I was in half the matches didn't happen because the thing was announced one day and pretty much started the next).

I would like everyone's input on every aspect of how this should be set up, especially when it comes to prizes. The last game day I tried to host I had set aside about 1m in cash prizes but I wont be able to allocate that this time (at least not at this moment) since I spent my fortune on a friend's birthday present. I'll work on getting prize money but I'd like some suggestions on what prizes should be and/or how much each prize should be worth. You can post suggestions here or PM me as you like. Or you could add me on MSN or Skype at "immortal.nobody@hotmail.com" and "immortalnobody" respectively. I'll accept any friend invites when my computer's back online.

I want to make this the biggest tournament this guild has hosted to date. With a little help from you guys it can be. This is going to be fun.

I'd definitely be in. I could talk to my cousin about helping, he could cast games live if we plan ahead (full HD highest settings XD), and he may actually have a cash prize if he wants to (He wants to host weekly tournaments in the near future with cash prizes, so adding a prize/asking him to cast shouldn't be too far of a stretch).

Alright. I was thinking of having Iternal Dragon cast and/or upload the casts to youtube (provided she'd rather do that than play), but there's no reason we can't have more than one person do it. :3

I'm wary about cash prizes. Unless your friend wants to sponsor it 100% he'd have to require us to buy in. First, I think that might actually be illegal if you follow Gaia's ToS (this would fall under their perview since the users and event would be held by Gaia users and organized on Gaia). Second, this alienates some of us who would like to participate. Some of the guild users are too young to have their own funds with which to buy in, meaning they have no bank account and Pay-Pal. And, I dunno if I'm the only one or not, my situation makes it impossible for me to participate since I have neither a bank account or Pay-Pal account since I've been unemployed for so long. I think it best if we just stick to Gaia gold and items. That way there is absolutely no risk of violating the ToS and no one can get left out.

I'm sure we could figure something out. Off the bat two ideas I have are either dual casting over skype/some other chat program, or one casts 1 game, then the other casts the next, etc.

Or if we have enough people, we could have two games being played at a time, and we can split up the casts that way.

Ah, cool cool. He would be sponsoring it if he did, and no one would have to pay anything to enter. At least, that's what I'm assuming he would do, since that is what he is going to do sometime soon for weekly tournaments to cast.

I've been "unemployed" for almost half a year now as well, but I do some odd jobs for family/friends and my cousin pretty much supports me to keep my education going. It isn't that hard to make a paypal account, and last I remember, you can just transfer funds directly to it and use them from the account where you can. I may be wrong though, haven't really used paypal for anything other direct usage for certain online purchases.

For violating ToS, maybe post nothing about the real money here, and maybe off site somewhere else we can have the real money prizes. Either way, the money is irrelevant to me, but I figured it might bring more people in to actually play and compete if there was real money involved.

We can put it up for vote, see what people want. Of course, get all the details from him first and post them up. That way we can make an informed decision.

I'll probably be hanging out with him this saturday, if not hopefully on sunday. I'll post what's up after then.

Intel was what was wrong with it. Those jackasses don't know how to design a heat sink clamp. This particular one requires you to press four pegs into holes in the motherboard. Well it had popped off without me knowing and was causing the CPU to overheat and shut down the computer after two minutes of operation. Found the loose heatsink by accident, applied some thermal compound and now I am running cool.

Interesting, I've had intel (as well as my friend's that I've helped repair and whanot) and haven't had that happen. Amd and Intel have a different process of camping the heatsink/fan on though. Intel is kinda just push and twist, but finding out when to twist and which direction is difficult unless it's the initial installation/you've done it enough.

Back to the tournament

sounds great! to me, cash prizes really aren't needed. if we get enough people entered or enough to watch, maybe i could cast the games i'm not in... maybe?

All the stock ones anyways. My new cpu is going to be liquid cooled and all this fancy jazz though, and it's going to be an AMD. So it's going to be a world of difference for me.

I've added a poll so people can vote on what they'd like for prizes.

Oh man a) tourneys are awesome b) if anyone casted it, that would be super epic. The more the merrier =] everyonee here should play.

For prizes, I have no opinion. If anyone is good at art/etc. there could always be prizes without gaia currency.
