Taryn had taken up walking the school grounds with fair frequency. it cleared her head, she found, and gave her a broader view of Amityville and the denizens of Halloween. It was time to take a serious break from studying to try and get out, maybe make a new friend. The wind nipped at her nose as she strode briskly around campus.

It was nice and cold, but unfortunately not well equipped for a gaming urge. Mortimer too had been out taking a brisk walk to enjoy the colder weather, but to be honest it wasn't enough. His fingers were twitching with something beyond a simple brain-controlled shock. They needed to touch buttons, push sticks, be for once in control of a world's fate.

He needed to kill him some humans.

Popping some buds into his ears, Mort turned on his skellyphone (ever surprised the old thing had music capability, however limited) and began blasting dubstep as he headed back towards the dorms. Maybe he'd brew something like hot chocolate to accompany this bitter weather, or heat up some braincon . . .

With his head bowed over his electronics, Taryn didn't immediately recognize Mort. As they grew closer to one another, though, it was hard to ignore. How many blue boils did she know, after all, and how many of them were all stitched-together? A smile jumped up on the ghoul's face, and she bounced and quickened her pace.

"Mort! Hi!" He had long since been forgiven for his odd manner of speaking and ripping at Taryn's hair. He was a nice boil, and Taryn needed some more good boil-friends. She hoped she wasn't intruding as she turned around and began to walk beside him.

Mort for a moment didn't actually respond. The few crucial seconds Taryn piped up and came closer were the few crucial seconds he had decided to close his eyes and bop his head to music that would probably spell doom upon normal ears with prolonged exposure. When he finally did, however, the boil jumped a tad. "H-Hi?" Red skin, snake tail, glasses, dark hair. Dark hair he had pulled during one of his derp moments.

Aw snap.

"H-Hai. Terra?" Mort prompted, poking his glasses up. Oh Jack, him and remembering names! He knew it started with a T, but . . . Oooooh. "Mrrr. T-Terrie? Teresa?"

Why was this such a head scratcher?

"W-Was, um, walking back n'side," he continued, stopping the music and pulling out the buds from his ears. "Come with? Gonna play vidya g-games."

Taryn mushed her mouth to one side. He didn't remember her name? They had spoken all through class, and then he had invited her to--

No, you know what, forget it. She had an odd name, and she was very aware of that fact. 'Mort' was much easier to remember.

"It's 'Taryn'," the ghoul offered and reasserted her pleasant smile. She honestly wasn't sure she wanted to be involved in any video gaming, but this was a day to be social, and she rather liked Mort. "Sure! Um... what games?"

Certainly not Math Blaster, right?

Oh Sweet Sally it was Taryn you know the one you gave your number to and talked with and already knew the name of why are you such an idiot Jack no wonder you can't get a date -

"TARYN. Taryn Taryn Taryn. Hi, Taryn." It took him all of his energy to not facepalm himself. "Vidyo games. L-Like Scario Kart. DDD. P-Pirates vs. Zombies." She knew what those were, right? Granted he hadn't played PvZ in a while . . . "Want come with?"

Hadn't she already responded? Taryn nodded and smiled a bit sheepishly, looking down and brushing a thatch of hair behind an ear.

"I've never played," she admitted, although didn't elaborate on what exactly she hadn't played (anything). "I'd love to try?" She followed Mort with a little trill of excitement. This was... almost normal, wasn't it?!
PostPosted: Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:58 pm

Had Mort asked that already? Maybe Mort asked that already. Maybe Mort should start paying better attention. Maybe Mort should stop thinking in the same way that Herryk talks.

"N-Never played?" owo Mort was compelled to take this poor culture fool of a monster by the arm and take her onward to the undead dorms with due haste! "Not right. Will fix!"

A normally slow zombie moved rather quickly when encumbered if video games were on the line. At least this one did.

Eventually they hit the undead dorms, which . . . weren't really any warmer than outside. "Watch f-for smell, sorry," Mort warned Taryn a tad late as she was lead directly to a door that had a caution sign: WARNING: NERDS AT WORK. "I-If cold, has blankets . . ."

The door cracked an inch open before growling was heard on the other side.

Oop! Mort seemed extremely upset that she had never played video games, and that seemed a little... reassuring, actually. These must be awesome games. Taryn was glad to share something someone truly loved as well, even if it was as odd as video games. To each their own, right? The ghoul laughed and jogged after Mort.

"Oh," was all she could offer as the door to the undead dorms was opened. She hadn't considered that most undead were somewhat pungent, in fact before now she might have considered it racist, but Mort's subtle rotting stench was compounded by the other undead students here. ...oh well. it wouldn't be nice to plug her nose, and it wasn't... so bad! "It's a bit nippy, if you have--"

Something. in Mort's room. was growling. Taryn stopped speaking (and moving) abruptly and her eyes went wide. This... might not be good.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 08, 2011 6:21 pm

"Ehehe . . ." His nervous laughter was almost forced. Oh Jack, his minies were at it again . . . Or rather, one in particular. "Brian," Mort told Taryn by way of explaining the growling as he tried to open the door a tad further. "Briaaaaan. Is Mort n' friend. No growly!"

Brian's bloody snout was now poking through the visible opening. One red eye glared at the ghoul as tiny teeth poked from the dragie's lips, and one of his paws attempted to widen the door further so that he could drive away this intruder.

"U-Um . . ." ouo; Mort scratched his head as he kept the door where it was, glancing back at Taryn sheepishly. "Sorry . . . Brian o-okay mostly. Just need get used smell."

Rrrrrrr went Brian.

"Will give braincon if shhhh."

The minipet softened his growling for a moment, though even as he backed away Brian kept a suspicious eye on Taryn - especially at the weird green thing behind her. Carefully, Mortimer creaked the door open with a sigh of relief. "Is okay now," he told her as he stepped inside and tossed his phone and buds onto the wrinkled bed. The zombie's room was like a refrigerator (though at least he had carpeting instead of, say, stone flooring), with some semblance of chaotic order both on the floor and off in respect to his possessions: socks mostly, but some t-shirts or coats as well. Several steps downward were just beyond the doorway, a feature Mort himself did not notice the first few times he was walking into his new home away from home. A bookshelf by the bed was a third of the way full, mostly with strategy guides, comics, and random assortments of books. One tv surrounded by a sea of cords and systems sat off to the side.

The pigimps, in their little blanketed corner of the room opposite them, perked their heads and tried to take a peak over their barrier.

It was like keeping a rabid scareon in your room, it really was. Taryn swallowed hard and stood back, hugging herself. That... whatever it was seemed pretty angry that she was there. Was this how all minis acted? If so, this was definitely why her parents had never wanted her to have one. She'd stick with her floresce, thanks!

Mort entered the room was if everything was alright, but Taryn only barely stepped inside and crouched, holding her skirt down with one hand and offering the other out, palm-down and limp, to the dragie. "Hi, Brian..." She'd might as well try and be nice, if she was stuck here with this... zombified darling.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 08, 2011 7:07 pm

Rrrrrrrr, Brian replied, rotting tail stiff like an arrow behind him. He was still quite suspicious of this new character, but not as aggressive as he could be - the pigimps were corralled, the kushi kushi was for once not a nuisance, and Lanna was safe atop Mort's bed, pretending to be a fluffed winged pillow as she slept.

And then the sound of the fridge opening caused him to turn his head away from the possible target.

"Mmmm~ Braincon~" Mort pulled out a little ziploc bag of what looked like strips of bacon, only . . . more pink-toned. He popped its contents onto a paper plate, into the microwave and hit the fast-cook button. "Brian l-likes. If give him, maybe make him like more?" It was worth a shot anyway. The last thing Mort wanted was for a new friend to be afraid to come visit just because one minipet decided he needed to bite the flesh off some "stranger in the room".

Although . . . Tasty hand + tasty braincon in hand might still = biting. Mrrrrrr.

With a ding, the microwave immediately opened itself up, the smell of regular bacon wafting in. Mort gingerly pulled the plate out and waved the strips down with his free hand. "Mmmmmm~ So, w-would like try?" he asked Taryn, offering her the plate. "Try f-feed, mean. Or can try for self. Or both!"

Brian's face melted into sudden puppyish begging.

Oh? Well look at that! Apparently Brian would give up a taste of her red flesh for some braincon. That was... reassuring, actually. Taryn stood and took a strip between her fingernails, wanting to keep it as far from her own hand as she could, and crouched again to offer it to the dragie.

"I'm just here to visit..." she offered, as if it could understand her. Not 'it', 'him' ...probably. He was rather cute, really, when he wasn't being threatening, if a bit stinky.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 08, 2011 7:29 pm

Sniff. Sniff sniff. There was a positive side to Brian being an undead - he wasn't exactly fast and could not, say, swipe the snack from Taryn's hands. She could watch him clearly as he moved his head forward to about the halfway mark on the braincon and snapped his jaws down, chewing delightedly on the meaty strip.

And then, as if realizing he looked too happy, Brian shot Taryn a quick glare as if to say this didn't automatically make them friends before sliding the greasy food out of her fingers to finish off in his little emo corner, wobbling unevenly on his various-stages-of-rotting limbs.

Mortimer tried not to look too relieved as he snacked on a strip himself. "Is g-good sign, methinks," he commented, setting the plate down to find Taryn a blanket. One that was patterned like 8bit invaders from space was tugged off his bed and handed to her. "So, what games play afore in arcade? C-Cards, race, quiz, shoots, dancey?" Because she had to have done some of that, right?

Taryn smiled as Brian wobbled off. Okay... that was a good sign. She'd just have to stay out of his way if he decided to charge. Abigail kept an eye on the dragie even as Taryn stood and turned to look around the room. Well, this was certainly... eclectic. Considering the ghoul had never been in a comic book store, let alone a video game shop, she was somewhat lost, but it was colorful and it was creative and that was enough for her. It took her a moment to realize that Mort was addressing her. Her smile grew and she took the blanket, wrapping it around her shoulders.

"An arcade?" she asked, head tilting, "I... don't think I've ever been in one..."
