Zhevra was supposed to be training, but he'd snuck off - one can only concentrate on the dull aspects of becoming a Knight for so long before a break was needed and while he was fairly sure that his father and Kale would not agree with this assessment what they didn't know simply wouldn't hurt then now would it?

Besides who needed to know the know the names of all the rivers between here and the mountains anyways? Completely pointless...if they'd been doing something exciting, like fight training well...then he would have stuck around. In any case Zhevra was pretty sure that he could make it back to the herd before anyone even noticed that he was gone nd if he didn't well then he'd just deal with whatever lame punishment the two older Knights thought up for him. It'd be worth it.

Zhevra had more important things to do - he'd heard that a new group of Soquili had wandered into the area, and that they were tiny..like really tiny and some of them had interesting powers. Zhevra was interested in finding this herd of tiny Soquili for himself and thus today's explorations.

Daylight . . . Ithil never quite enjoyed it as much as she did, say, twilight or the night itself. Day was too bright, too obstinate in its need to shine; it hurt her eyes. The mare squinted as she made her way delicately through the brush, sleeves dragging with each step. Several twigs and leaves had found themselves in her mane, lending to a rather disheveled look; her jewels would need polishing soon as well.

But last night had been a success - she had met a rather chatty fox with whom a long discourse had been had. Now, though, was the hard part: finding someplace to sleep.

Ithil blinked and yawned, turning her head away from the sun as she walked. She had no idea where she was, as usual, but then she supposed that did not matter in the end. This entire territory was new to her, and very strange in its ways.

Zhevra was fairly caught up in his own thoughts when the pale and decorated mare suddenly made an appearance through the brush. It wasn't the herd of tiny Soquili that he had been hoping to discover of course but it was a disheveled looking mare and that in itself was enough to capture Zhevra's attention. His attention now fully focused on the present Zhevra paused and eyed her for a few moments.

She did not look like any of the Soquili in his fathers herd and he attempted to place her type from the knowledge he had been told throughout his lessons...which might have been easier if he had been paying attention the entire time. Lets see..horns, which narrowed it down a little bit..and scales which narrowed it down even further, she didn't have wings and so...kirin? Possibly it sounded right in any case and wasn't that somewhat exciting? He hadn't met a Kirin before and this one looked like she had been traveling for quite some time if her appearance was any clue.

Well this was a good chance to prove himself and pulling himself up to his full height Zhevra attempted to look both confident and knightly before speaking to draw her attention. "Are you in need of assistance Ma'am?" He asked in what he thought was surely a very manly voice and wouldn't his father be proud of the way he'd asked? It sounded very fine and articulate to him.

The sun was too bright . . . Her stomach renewed its campaign and drew further on her strength as she wobbled forward, not the graceful beauty she could have been. In a daze, she turned her head towards the voice, eye-lids fluttering. "P-Pedich Edhellen?" Ithil asked, her voice breathy and labored as she tried to focus on the stallion. The sun was dazzling, the cold biting, her hunger gnawing . . . Perhaps this was a tire-vision, nothing more. "Heniach nin? Heniach nin . . ." Her legs trembled, her head began to hang, and her sleeves began to entangle further into the ground.

She doomed either way, be it from a stranger's whim or from hunger, or perhaps sleep deprivation. Either way, she seemed to lean this way and that, ready to collapse the longer she stood.

Zhevra's ears flicked this way and that as the mare spoke - but try as he might the stallion found that he really couldn't make heads or tails of what she might be saying to him. One thing was clear however - and that was that the poor mare was on the verge of collapsing right in front of his very eyes.

"What in the world have you done to yourself?" The stallion remarked as he bounded to her side to help steady and guide her to a place where she might be able to rest. "I don't know if you can even understand what I'm saying" He told the mare "But if you rest...I'll keep an eye out for a while" He offered after pushing a goodly pile of grass in her direction. He was almost certainly going to be late going home tonight - if he even managed to make it home before tomorrow, something which depended entirely on how long the mare needed to recover..but surely his father would understand once he explained the situation. I mean he couldn't be expected to leave a sickly mare all on her own now could he.

Whether his words were understood or not, the mare followed his movements without hesitation, her skin cold to the touch. And yet all Ithil could recall was the fox, the crafty creature who had spun the tale of his forefathers, who he claimed had put the stars where they were to tease the magpies, their enemies: treasures they could never steal, that were for all to see and appreciate. But there were no stars here, just a burning disc and a strange voice, and the smell of good grass.

Just lean forward, take the food . . .

"Gen hannon . . ." Ithil could not forget manners, weak or not. "G-Gen hannon . . ."

She slowly moved her head forward and nipped at the edge of the grass, looking more weary than anything else. Her headdress fell off and landed near the stallion, blue gem winking, as she began to chew. The mare's skin twitched and shivered almost of its own whim, normally white but in this light a little darker from dirt.

While the mare did not give any indication of understanding what he'd actually said - neither did she hesitate in letting him help her to the more sheltered location and thankfully also seemed inclined to eat something which Zhevra was glad for as he was sure it would help the mare regain the strength that she so obviously needed.

Of course he still had no idea what it was she was saying - as far as he could tell she could be saying 'this food is good' or 'go away and let me eat in peace' but he choose to infer it as a thank you of some sort since he didn't detect any malice in her gaze. "Your welcome?" He told her sincerely . When her headdress fell off he looked at it for a a few moments, admiring the craftsmanship and gleaming jewel before plucking it from the ground and placed it carefully back on her head. It was a bit lopsided but hey it was the thought that counted right?

While eating, Ithil watched him carefully; tired as she was, she knew well the damage a ruse could cause. And there was a visible flinch when the stallion drew near again, which was odd as she did not do so earlier - but then, nothing she had said thus far made sense. Who was to say the actions of a drained Soquili had to as well?

The diadem was lopsided, but it also felt wrong for other reasons. Her mother had given it to her as a sign of her rank, but Ithil felt that she was not showing any of the supporting evidence for it. Wordlessly, she let tilted her head and let it fall off again, nonetheless looking mournful as she ate.

Several minutes of silence the poor male had to endure before, swallowing her last bit, the mare turned to him with no detectable or straight forward expression. "Why do you help me?" she asked suddenly, her accent still shining through despite the clear common speak. "Do you want something of me, ettelen er?" It was quiet, yes, and yet the emphasis was more in her eyes as she looked him down almost regally, despite her dishevelled person.

When the mare tipped her head to let the headdress fall off once more Zhevra inwardly shrugged to himself - if she didn't want to wear it well then he would let it lay on the ground - although it looked far to pretty to let lay around in the dirt like that. Still it wasn't his headdress so who was he to be worried over it?

Turning his gaze away slightly Zhevra let the mare eat in silence, it wasn't like they could really hold a conversation with her speaking that strange language anyways - so he was content to keep his eyes out for any potential danger that might chance upon him. It was almost startling then when the mare not only spoke again but spoke so that he could understand her and turning his head he looked at her "So you could understand me!" He exclaimed in a pleased tone, this would certainly make things go a bit smoother now wouldn't it.

Of course he had to blink about her question for few moments..want something? He shook his head slightly. "It is my duty to help those in need and you seemed like you needed some assistance" He told the mare, he did not tell her right then that he was Knight in training as he wasn't even sure that she would know what that was but he decided it would be good to at the very least introduce himself properly "I am Zhevra, son of Ironforge"

"Zhevra." She tried the name on her tongue, frowning slightly. Ironforge . . . it sounded like the name of a naug. But this "Zhevra" did not have the smell or build of one himself. Perhaps it was simply from mixed breeding . . . It could be worse, Ithil reasoned. She might have been found by someone of orcish descent.

"Mae govannen, Zhevra Son of Ironforge, and thank you," she said, losing the frown and inclining her head. "I am Ithil, daughter of Menel. You do not see me at my best. Can you show me place to rest? I have journeyed far."

Ithil..it was a beautiful name, it suited the mare though Zhevra was afraid to say so out loud - this mare seemed like she came from a high birth and he did not want to offend her by accident by seeming to familiar out of hoof. "My father's herd is not far from here - you would be most welcome with them for time if you desire, or there is a meadow and stream somewhat closer if you would prefer someplace less populated" He offered after considering the best and closest option he knew.

He rather hoped that she would choose to return to the herd - not only was it far safer then spending the night in an open meadow but it would surely keep Kale and his father from harping on him for skipping out on his training should he return with a true damsel in distress like this.

A herd close to this area? Luck was on her side indeed today, even if the sunlight hated her so. "Would that I meet this Ironforge," Ithil replied with a nod. "And your clansmen, should they choose." She was used to being around a lot of Soquili at once when necessary and, in spite of her condition, she would always have the energy to greet the head of a herd - it was something taught young in her own. One's clansmen before one's own. Selfishness was not harbored well.

Squinting still against the sunlight, Ithil added, "Lead on," before picking up her diadem. Woe be to her if she forgot it in the wilds!

Ah! Her answer made the stallion preen inwardly, the Moonglade Herd might not be all that large but they were impressive in their own way - or perhaps he was just biased because his father was the beta and of course that she would keep him from being fussed at was also a plus. His father would never dress him down in front of such a visitor.

"It is not very far" He assured the mare as despite her meal and short rest Zhevra was sure that she would still be in need of a bit of rest. As the mare picked up her headdress Zhevra turned about and headed back the way he had come. He kept his pace slow so that the mare would not have any trouble keeping up in her current condition as he made his way through the woods.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 25, 2012 12:44 pm

Ithil noticed his ease of pace and would have commented on it had she not been carrying her diadem. While his chivalry was commendable, she did not like this slow pace - to her, it was almost a sign of pity, something she detested. Did she look so terrible to this horse? A bit put-off at herself, Ithil held her head a little higher as she followed Zhevra through the woods. At the least she was used to such terrain, keeping her hooves carefully placed and high lest a grass-obstructed root or rock displace her.

Still, the longer they walked, the more the mare began to feel a sense of . . . illness in her. Like bees buzzing in her head. She blinked hard and focused on Zhevra's form, though the buzzing continued. She would not become distressed on something as simple as a walk, she just simply couldn't! What would it say about her character? Still, her head was beginning to sink lower . . .

Although Zhevra had been walking in front of the mare he had made an effort to keep an eye on her - she was obviously weakened and it wouldn't do to bring her home to his father only to have her collapse at his feet. Not only would that be bad for the mare but it would certainly get him a severe talking to for death marching her to the herd in such a fashion.

And so it wasn't hard for the young stallion to notice when her steps began to slow and her head which she'd been trying so very hard to hold high began to droop lower and lower towards the ground. However he wasn't sure howto go about suggesting a rest without making it seem like he was doubting her ability - something that almost any Soquili with any sort of pride would take offense too - and this mare seemed to have a good bit of pride in her despite her condition. Glancing at the sky through the trees he spotted what looked to be a grayish colored cloud in the distance..huzzah! and clinging to this opportunity he turned aside into the shelter of a copse of trees "Looks like a storm might be brewing" He stated matter of factly "Perhaps it might be best we shelter here until it passes or blows over..storms in this area can be very unpredictable"
