Where: Fellah's hive outside New Hemisect, in the plains.

When: Sometime close to midnight.

Why: Zeffer decides to be a nuisance while out playing on a windy night.

Zeffer's feet fell quickly upon the grassy ground as he made his way through the vast plains that stretched out far beyond the city and suburbs of New Hemisect. He was so far out, in fact, that the light were practically a spot on the horizon, barely enough to remind him where he'd ventured out from. Truth was, his mind was anywhere but the city at the moment. His eyes and mind were focused on something he couldn't even really see - the wind. Currently, it was whipping over the plains at a respectable speed, enough to make the grass ripple in a visually pleasant manner. It almost looked a vast, rolling green ocean, at which the be-goggled young troll traversing it grinned sharkishly. An excellent sight, to be sure! He loved the feel of the wind through his hair, in his face, and wondered idley if it would bring with it a storm, eventually. It would be fine for now, there was still plenty of fun to be had as it was.

Shifting his shoulders, Zeffer readjusted the backpack he was carrying and pressed on, going at a brisk jog, a normal pace for the energetic blueblood. He seemed to be going no direction in general, but was in fact headed to a very specific spot, one he fancied that only he himself knew about. Of course, that wasn't going to keep anything from distracting him, something that happened all too often. Presently, he caught sight of lights in the distance, and he changed course without hesitation, drawn to them. He was aware that trolls, mostly lowbloods, dwelt on the plains, growing their own food or enjoying a more quiet lifestyle. Their hives were far more spread out than the cities and suburbs, and until now he'd never really gotten a good, close look at any of them, particularly the little farms. But here he was now, drawing every nearer to a certain redblood's hive...

They were always such quaint little places, but the thing that caught Zeffer's attention right away was the corral full of hoofbeasts...plump, cared-for, tasty looking ones, at that. Here was a notion he'd never entertained before. Keeping your own beasts instead of having to expend effort to capture and kill them? Zeffer was intrigued. It seemed lazy and ingenious all at once. Lazy to the predatory side of him, of course. With a lusus like Cal, it was really no surprise that he'd turned out the way he had, and now was no exception to that. When he didn't feel like purchasing food, they would hunt, and sometimes Cal had the decency to drag home half a kill to share. His eyes darted about the property, shining with a fox-like glint as he adopted a stooped posture and continued forward, a sad attempt at stealth. He approached the fence, eyeing the creatures with a hungry gaze, until an especially hard gust knocked him out of his thoughts, and brought him back to reality. Zeffer had stolen things before, plenty of things, but never an entire animal. He leaned against the wooden structure as he watched them mill about, trying to find a smaller one amongst the bunch...

"You'll never drag it back before daybreak anyway, you nubhead." he murmured, and snickered to himself. His thinkpan was still wracked with murderous thoughts, though...after all, he could always take a bite out of one of them and go along his merry way, right? His eyes darted up and around again, watching for movement. He remained alert as he maneuvered his horns and then himself between the wooden rails of the fence, grinning wickedly as several of the creatures shuffled the opposite direction, obviously unsettled to see a stranger in their midst. From there he shifted closer and closer, zeroing in on a little fluffy hoofbeast as he reached for one of the batons fixed to his belt. By now Zeffer was in full stalk mode, and had long since failed to pay attention to the area outside the corral.

Unfortunately for the wandering blueblood the corral was being guarded by a much larger and much more formidable hoofbeast. The hive's resident lusus was on the prowl, the Broad-Horned Buffaboar kept watch over the other hoofbeasts when he wasn't watching his charge.
A menacing snort came from behind the troll trying to gain access to the corral. PapaBuff stood there. The lusus towered high above the young troll, his head lowered in a threatening gesture. He wasn't about to let some stranger come into Fellah's hive and start messing with his hoofbeasts. This had happened a couple times before so the massive hoofbeast was used to chasing off trespassers. This kid was nothing to the lusus, PapaBuff even chuckled a bit, or the equivalent for what chuckling was to a hoofbeast. It might even be fun for him to chase this kid a bit, spooking him enough to make him not want to come back. He scraped his front hoof against the ground, looking Zeffer in the eyes.

Fellah was inside his hive. The redblood was busying himself with making a massive lunch. There had been a good harvest recently and he wasn't about to let it go to waste. Aside from his dating sims and soaps, eating was one of the trolls favorite pastimes. He wasn't exactly what you'd call a chef, though he sure did know how to make a good old-fashioned home cooked meal. Or, feast as it would appear.
He had just taken a couple casseroles out of the oven when he heard some snorting and ruckus coming from outside. He wondered what on earth PapaBuff was doing out there.
Wiping his hands on a dish rag the portly troll shoved it in his overalls back pocket and made his way out the front door. The screen swinging behind him he stepped out onto the porch and looked around, wondering where his lusus was at, "PapaBuff? Where are ya? What's all that racket out here?" he hollered.

Zeffer froze instantly at the sound of the snort, straightening up before looking back. Aah...there it was. He'd been expecting something at least. These places always had protection, and it was almost always the lusus doing that job. He eyed the creature in silent awe. It was no fangbeast or clawbeast, no, it was a hoofbeast! And a sizable one at that. Zeffer had never seen such a massive creature, and a manic grin crossed his face as he turned to face it. This was going to be interesting. To papabuff's surprise, perhaps, the youngster met the beast's gaze with a fearless one of his own, baton in hand. A foolhardy gesture, to be sure, but even with the sound of his own pounding heart rushing in his ears, Zeffer could not force himself to look away, or run. Not yet.

"Hey big guy." he murmured. As the hulking lusus pawed at the earth, the baton in Zeffer's hand begun to hum and buzz with electricity, brought to life with the flick of a switch. He was tempted to grab the other from its place on his belt, but he was going to need a free hand for this. He finally started to move, backing up slowly, carefully, his eyes glued on the beast. They had lost the murderous gleam that they'd been carrying moments before. Now they were chock full of determination, and a challenging defiance. Not even the hollered question from the emerging redblood broke Zeffer's concentration as he waited for the big hoofbeast to make the first move.

PapaBuff was indeed a bit surprised when the young troll engaged his weapon and showed no signs of backing down. It only amused the lusus though. PapaBuff snorted in a way that could be interpreted as laughing at the imposing troll. He stomped one of his massive hooves on the ground and reared his head, showing that he wasn't going to accept this insolence and was ready for business.
Fellah heard his lusus laughing and got a little confused. The redblood walked down the steps of his porch and walked around his lawnring, looking about his farm until he finally spotted PapaBuff off by the coral.
"PapaBuff what're ya doing?" he called as he approached. It wasn't until he got closer that he was able to see the troll with a rather loud mohawk on the other side of his lusus. He wasn't expecting to see another troll out here, it wasn't very often that someone ventured out far enough into the plains to come across his hive.
"Wh-Whats going on out here?" Fellah asked as he quickened his pace. He saw the both of them looked like they were going to start a fight. The rustblood was getting worried, he didn't like it when PapaBuff got into fights, and he hoped that the new troll wasn't set on causing trouble. He loved to meet new faces, under these sorts of pretenses though it was all a little more stressed.

At the sound of Fellah's voice, Zeffer's demeanor seemed to shift in a split second. He leapt to the side and rolled through the grass before hopping up onto the fence and perching there, looking back at Papabuff. Sometime in the process of his flurried movement, his weapons had been clipped back onto his belt, and he glanced back at the massive hoofbeast with a worried expression. "Greetings, plainsdweller! I definitely wasn't about to partake in feasting on your hoofbeasts, here." he said, in a very odd and eloquent manner, telling a bald-faced lie as he flashed Fellah a huge grin.

"M'just passin' through. Your lusus seems kinda upset, is he okay?" Zeffer asked, looking back at the massive beast. He would've been glad to go toe to toe with the monstrously sized lusus, but if its troll decided to join the fight then Zeffer figured it might've been too hard to handle. No use in biting off more than he could chew (in a sadly less literal way than he liked). "Name's Zeffer. Nice farm ya got here, this wind been botherin' ya for very long?" there was that sharky grin again. The blueblood exuded a very unusual aura, part insincere, part playful.
