Harrison didn't get a lot of sleep. How could he, when tomorrow...? He got the vague feeling that sugarplums and Christmas specials were involved. Wow! He just felt SO AMAZING.

Drifting in and out of a light sleep, it was much later in the day before he figured out that at some point in early morning he had crashed. He did not feel as good as he did yesterday. He liked Christmas, sure, and it was still his favorite holiday, but it no longer felt like IT WAS CHRISTMAS RIGHT NOW, AND ALL OF HIS DREAMS WERE GOING TO COME TRUE. He felt...tired, and empty. He had never felt that good before. And he had screwed around enough with drugs to know, something that made him feel that good... he was never touching again.

What had even happened?

Candace had invited him on a mystery date. And Julie, while being very nice (and he was pretty sure she was the same girl who had broken down over the radio during the Sahara mission) was...well. Really not someone he could spend the rest of his life with. Or even Christmas eve (as much as he hated to ruin a nice girl's Christmas). The other guy had seemed enthusiastic enough. Maybe he wouldn't be...totally crushing her heart and dreams. It was just- well, with all the JOY of CHRISTMAS, he had forgotten to mention a few important facts to Candace.

So, trying not to feel dreary, he pulled on something from his closet and went to see if Candace was still in her room. If not, he was going to have to go find her.

"Candace?" he asked, outside her door, "We need to talk."

Yesterday had gone well enough, she supposed. No one had left with food poisoning as far as Candace was aware. No one had died.

...Yet.

She did feel bad for making Harrison go through that, and for basically drugging him to go along with it instead of just letting him make his own decision, but apparently Candace was a terrible person who did s**t like that to get ahead. Though there was no reward to show for it. None. The only thing she was left with was having trouble sleeping because she felt...nervous. She'd been naughty and Santa was going to give her coal she just knew it! That was the feeling! ******** it all! She was naughty! She'd considered leaving to go see Jerry about this problem.

Somehow she didn't think he'd get the joke.

I wonder if he'll be mad you used him like that. Atropos mused, the invisible grin almost audible. Candace groaned and rolled over with her pillow over her head as if that would be enough to shut Atropos out. Nice try, but you can't escape me that easily~. Candace sighed.

She tried to sleep again, finally finding herself on the verge of sweet unconscious bliss when she heard her name spoken outside of her head. <********! That was Harrison!

"Door's opeeeeeen!" Candace called out, curling up on her side in her bed. It wasn't her intention to be rude. She was sleepyyyyy!

He opened the door, but hadn't expected Candace to still be in bed.

"Uh, sorry. Didn't mean to wake you up. Should I come back later?" Harrison asked.

Just tell her you can't kiss Julie and leave
, B0nez said. I want to do a little FPS.

I've still got to eat breakfast, Harrison thought.

Right, eating, I always forget about that. Okay, then FPS.

"No, no. It's fine. I was already awake. Come on in." Candace sat up, keeping her blanket wrapped snugly around her. How silly of Harrison to think he could ever walk in on her at a bad time!

Wait, no. He totally could. But luckily now was not one of those times! "So what's up?" She pat the bed beside her. Come sit, Harrison. Be her leaning post or else she'll fall over and pass out.

"It's about your friend, Julie," Harrison said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I mean. She's real nice and all. But I wasn't exactly in full command of myself last night. I mean, hell, I probably would have kissed one of those apocalypse horses if they stood under mistletoe. And I'm uh- I'm not exactly attracted to horses."

Harrison sat beside Candace.

"You gotta tell her. I don't want to leave her standing there Christmas Eve."

Julie? Ah, she wasn't exactly Candace's friend. She barely knew the girl! But before she could correct Harrison he'd already gone on to basically explain Julie wasn't his type. She honestly couldn't blame him; she was a slob and on top of that she was also...crazy. "Sure, sure. I can do that." She leaned over to put her head on Harrison's shoulder, snuggled comfortably into her blanket.

"It's fine. I knew she was weird but man, that girl is crazy." Candace laughed. "I understand, trust me. I just thought it'd be nice to try and get you a girlfriend~? You're a good guy, any girl'd be lucky to have you." She may have been slightly biased but it was what she believed.

"Yeah, I appreciate the effort. I don't mind crazy so much. I mean, I'm friends with you, aren't I?" Harrison joked.

"But next time you set me up on a blind date, try snagging the doc from the infirmary with the southern accent."

Candace pouted and tried to glare at Harrison when he called her crazy. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm probably the sanest person on this island." Atropos immediately burst into obnoxiously loud laughter the moment those words left Candace's mouth. That only made her pout more. Thanks, Atropos. The weapon was too busy laughing to reply.

The doc...with the southern accent?

...

Wait.

"What?" She frowned. There was only one southern doctor she was aware of... "Stephen..?" Suddenly it seemed to click. Candace suddenly gasped, eyes widening as she threw her arms around Harrison in a tight hug, blanket and all. "OhmygodHarrison! I'm so sorry! I had no idea!"

Candace. The man likes pink. I've never known a gayer color in my entire life. Candace glared at the rings sitting on her nightstand. Not helping.

"It's okay. I mean, it could've been worse, all consider- okay, okay," Harrison laughed, putting an arm around the blanket and Candace.

"Just don't tell Julie that's the reason. I don't...I don't uh, want it getting around to Clarice," he said, embarrassed. "You know how it is with Dave and all the arm puns and handicap spaces. Like it'd be...I don't know, a big joke or something."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 07, 2011 12:56 pm

Oh thank god he wasn't mad! The last thing she wanted was for one of the few genuinely good relationships she had so far on this island to turn sour! "I won't, I won't. Not a soul. I'll just tell her you didn't want to lead her on and I'll apologize, okay? It'll be fine." She'd figure out how to break the news to her gently. Besides, Bix and her seemed to get along rather well!

"So...Stephen, huh?" Candace grinned up at him, raising a brow.

"With my track record I'll probably be spending a lot of time in the infirmary any how," Harrison said, touching his middle tenderly.

"Just, you know, as an example. I was actually kinda hoping E-8...but I haven't seen him since the trap room. ...Well. We got to talk a little in that Lounge."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:59 am

"Awww, I'm sure you'll get better at...not...getting terribly hurt." Candace attempted, knowing the truth that Harrison was a walking injury. Maybe it was a good thing he was a Moon hunter? He was...used to being hit? Or would get used to it.

"But no, no. Stephen's a fine example. Clarice actually informed me that Doctor McDreamy is ah...in the same playing field as you, apparently~? Er...E-8?" Which one had been E-8 again? She frowned and looked away, unable to recall any of their old teammates now. There was Eva...and...someone else now, the kid with the blonde hair and the orange scarf. But she couldn't remember the 'nameless' ones. "I'm...sure he'll wake up soon." Candace offered quietly, giving her friend an affectionate squeeze and closing her eyes. "I'm sorry I drugged you with weird cookies made by a lady we're told isn't even human."

"No s**t," Harrison said, "Doctor McDreamy, huh? And hey! I didn't mean just getting hurt, my division's supposed to do that stuff too. We're like...field medics."

He shrugged with the reassurance that E-8 would wake up, not wanting to think about it too hard. Candace's next admission gave him pause.

"You did that on purpose?" Harrison asked, agog. "What for?"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 08, 2011 8:56 pm

"Clarice started it. She warned me not to try hitting on him. As if I'd do that, right?" Candace chuckled and gave a nod at Harrison's defense as well. "Fine, fine. You win. Just be careful, okay? I don't want to lose my Thirteen." Or her Jerry but that went without saying.

Oh, wait. Did she just admit to..oops! Ahaha. Nice going, Candace. Niiiice going. "Because...I wasn't thinking~? I'm sorry. I won't do it again. I was being selfish and forcing you into what I thought would make you happy and I'm used to idiot men who are to stubborn to go along with what's best for them." She pouted her lips and stared up at him with the saddest eyes she could manage. Forgiveness? Yes?

Harrison raised an eyebrow.

"So you drugged me," he repeated. "With a Christmas roofie." He thought about this carefully, and decided on a wry smile, "Okay. In retrospect, it was pretty hilarious. But if I start seeing Christmas lights again, do me a favor and keep me away from the mistletoe."
