Shahidi yelped as she was flung aside again, hitting into the ground with a heartbreaking crunch. She was sure something had broken, a rib perhaps? She should have just let the beasts have the damn meat, but she was so, so hungry! She'd not eaten in what felt like forever... and the carcass was slightly spoiled anyhow. The hyenas had no right! But even in her pained, exhausted, terrified state she knew they did have that right. The savannah was a place for those who were survivors, who were tough and fought for themselves and not others. Sadly, it was not a kind place for lions like her.
Her breathing was shallow and she feebly growled and kicked out a paw as a hyena gave a warning snap at her stomach before cackling and moving back to it's winnings. Her hind leg was torn pretty well, and she could feel something on her side beginning to burn; as if it was inflamed. She whimpered slightly, still laying in the dust. She didn't dare move, everything hurt too much.

It wasn’t a surprise when Fsi-toyo had stumbled across the spoiled carcass of some mangled creature. What was a shock, was the fact the some pitiful lioness was trying to get a piece of the meat, and being outdone by hyenas.
He eyed the meat, feeling pains hit his stomach, thinking of when the last time he had a good meal was. Though, he wouldn’t classify spoiled meat as a good meal, but it would do. With his eyes narrowed, he wouldn’t let the hyenas present take control of him, he was much larger than them, and if needed would fight against them. Then he’d really have some fresh meat to eat.
With a large roar, Fsi narrowed his eyes, daring the cackling creatures to try him. He ignored the lioness for the moment, although he couldn’t help but sneak glances when walking past her panting self.

Shahidi's fur tried to stand on end almost instantly when the roar broke through the cackling of the hyenas, the sound was deafening. Sha had never enjoyed the fierce roars of males of her kind, though she'd never been able to pin-point why. Right now, as much of a threat she found that roar to be, she also knew it was salvation. Perhaps. Perhaps not. Her tail gave a feeble flick, her bright purple eyes slit open just slightly, but it was of no use. She couldn't see anything that was going on.
The hyenas had given a few snarls and snaps, but ultimately there were just two of them and one large lion. They could find another meal just as easily, it wasn't worth the fight. Shahidi had been an easier target, she was small and frail. Not much of a fighter. It seemed they thought differently of the male, because after one snatched another bite of the more rotted flesh both of them began to run off.
Shahidi felt both relieved and thankful. This male was clearly here to help her! She shifted and slowly pushed herself to her side, shaking as she brought herself to her paws. Her eyes were fully open now, and she was finally able to get a good look at the male. "You... you, thank you.." She breathed softly, unsure if he would even hear her.

The dark lion smirked at the retreat of the hyenas. While he would rather a battle ensued, where he would have the chance of a better meal, he settled for not having anything marring his body this morning. Instead, he just sauntered up to the already dead meat, eyeing it before digging in.
While a normal, nice-guy type lion would have likely asked how the lioness was doing, Fsi did nothing of the sort. To him, females were inferior, only good for catching meals for males, and bearing strong lines from breeding.
Even this female went on to prove his point. He doubt that she had gotten the kill herself, for it was rather old. But, she obviously wasn’t a fighter neither. She was the one who couldn’t defend herself against the hyenas, and seemed to get injured during or before the altercation with them. The lion shook his head, ripping another slab of meat and chewing it messily, his eyes staring towards Shahidi as she spoke.
They narrowed. Did she just…acknowledge him? How dare she!
“Silence.” Fsi said sternly, his tail thrashing a bit behind him. “You will not speak unless spoken too, do you understand.” He looked around, not seeing any other males in the vicinity. So, she was a rogue. Excellent.

She blinked and her eyes widened as he snapped at her, and her small frame involuntarily took a step backwards. Her gaze fell to his tail, swinging so angrily about, before moving to his large, powerful looking spine and then moved quickly back to her own paws. She felt herself nodding at his words, though she realized he wouldn't be able to see this sort of response with his back turned to her as it was, and she had been spoken to. "Of course, I understand." She stated breathily, feeling a little confused and a lot embarrassed.
Maybe it was natural for a lion to behave in this manner after helping another lion? Though she was never one to act this way whenever she offered up scraps of food or even some socialization towards strangers. She decidedly did not like this male, he was terrifying. Her bright purple gaze shifted around, and though she was in a lot of pain she wondered if she should just wander away. But she couldn't just say goodbye or farewell or something now that he'd imposed that stupid rule on her... would it be okay to just leave?
She turned and took a step away, wincing in pain. She stopped and whimpered slightly, slowly seating herself and bringing her paw off of the ground to inspect it.

He eyed the female again.
Fsi took a moment to snag a few bites of meat from the fallen carcass, before he took a step away from it. That usually meant a sign he was done, and the female was able to take her fill of dinner, but not for Fsi. Instead, he continued to watch the female, making sure she stayed where she was, before he rose to his feet.
“Where do you think you are going?” He called out as soon as she took a step. He wouldn’t let his prize leave so soon!
His gaze followed down to her paw. Great, she was injured? Females sure were a weakling creature.

Her ears fell back as he suddenly questioned where she as going, unaware that he'd been watching her. So he... didn't want her to leave yet? Her paw seemed only a little bad... she thought it was perhaps sprained. She placed it down again, but it was easy to tell she was keeping the weight off of it.
"I was just..." trying to leave. The words died on her tongue when she met his gaze. She did not like that look in his eye... he could be taught some manners. She cleared her throat and fixed her gaze instead on his now. "Just sitting here." She offered quietly. "To check my paw." With each breath she could feel pain along her ribs, which also wasn't good but it wasn't something she was about to mention.
Her gaze shifted away from the male and back onto the carcass. She licked her lips, hungry still. So hungry!

“You know,” Fsi began, his eyes narrowed as he stopped eating his meal, stalking up to the female. “If there is one thing I don’t like, it’s liars. You’ll do best to remember that.” He hissed out, his form towering over the female. The dark pelted lion was intimidating, and his skull like markings plaguing his facial features probably wouldn’t help dwindle any fear in those he met. Fsi was truly an a**, and it showed. He wasn’t the one who would go around, prancing about like some love-struck puppy. He knew he needed to show his strength to any that crossed his path, even if it was a weakling female like the one before him.
“What is your name girl?” He asked suddenly, his tone never changing. He needed to find something to call his prize, and something like ‘girl’ just wouldn’t do. If he liked her name enough, he would continue to cal her that. If he didn’t, well, he would change his property’s name. She could fight him if she didn’t like it, but she’d likely lose if she tried, especially with that injured paw.
“From now on, you are mine.” There was no ifs-ands- or buts about that statement. His eyes narrowed as if asking her to question him.

Shahidi seemed to shrink down into herself when he came closer, gingerly placing her hurt paw on the earth. She even shuddered a little... what else could she do? She wasn't stupid enough to snap at him less she bring his full wrath down on her... and she wasn't about to talk back because he definitely wouldn't like that. She hadn't lied entirely... she'd just left some of the truth out. She nodded agreement anyhow, wondering if she should say something to accompany it. Probably not... he hadn't quite asked her a real question.
And then he did. "Sh-shahidi" She squeaked out, eyes wide slightly. Crap, why hadn't she lied? Right... no, he didn't like liars. Would he have been able to tell though? Maybe she just needed to learn how to lie be-
What? Her gaze snapped to his own for a fleeting second before fluttering back to the earth. She could almost feel her heart in her throat with how hard it was beating. What did he mean his? She was her own lion! "I-I.. don't... understand.." She breathed, though really was afraid of picking a fight with the male.

Shahidi….now that was a bit exotic. Fsi-toyo did particularly enjoy that name.
At her stutter of the name, he knew she hadn’t been lying. One would had said a lie quickly, though she didn’t. Good, maybe she was learning after all. He would have an excellent little lioness for him in no time.
He scoffed at her next words. “Typical females, never understanding.” Fsi saw it one two three. He was a male, she female. He was the stronger of the species. What was there not to understand? It was like perfect blue skies! “You will soon.” He said gruffily.
“You have five minutes to take your share of that meat before we head off. I wouldn’t waste my time talking if I were you, unless you wish to travel hungry.”

Shahidi's world had suddenly become very confused. A slight flicker of anger surged up her throat at his words, but it quickly was extinguished by the fear on confusion. He really meant for her to be his female... what time did he live in? She was a female grown, and a rogue to boot! She did not just let... some male... come take her as... his own.
Even the thought seemed weak. She could either comply or be killed, she was sure of it. She said not a word as she moved toward the carcass, eyes wide as her dilemma settled in.
Five minutes to gorge herself on the slightly rancid meat? She'd been staved what seemed like minutes before, but all appetite had left her. She leaned down and forced herself to eat anyhow, praying she would not be sick within the hour. Her mind felt oddly empty, almost numb. She would need to think certain things through, to calm down and to come up with a plan. Yes, that seemed much better!
When what she judged to be almost five minutes to pass she lifted her head, tongue running over her chops several times as she tried to rid herself of the blood and mess quickly. She waited. She was actually waiting for a word of order... it sickened her stomach.
A plan, a plan! There had to be some sort of plan her mind would construct... and the sooner the better. END
