Deus Ex Machina Divisions in detail:

Deus Ex Machina has five standard divisions, each one specifying in specified roles or tasks. That means that while Hunters AND Trainees share the workload when it comes to missions, there are times when the division leader OR assistant division leader will request a specific task required of that division only. In addition, the Council will expect Hunters of their division to pick up tasks related to their division, and to excel in that aspect. This is however a double standard: not only do they expect Hunters to commit to their division tasks, they also expect them to be responsible and ready to take action for tasks of all of Deus Ex Machina.

Basically there are a Hunter's expected division duties and then extra duties. A trainee falls into a class of their own as their extra duties often overlap with their expected division duties. In larger missions, Hunters of specific divisions are often dispatched together.

(Sun, Moon, Mist, Life, Death emblems)

Division and Role Breakdown

Death Hunters

- Also known as 'pre-mission' Hunters. They are the group that does the investigation prior to a large-scale mission, or even smaller mission queries. While mostly well-balanced in terms of power, Death Hunters have no qualms about retreating or letting others do the dirty work for them. They are simply there to pick up information, and then make a timely exit
- Death Hunters, in addition to gathering information are expected to be updated themselves as to the current resources and events, and really, why they are going on their pre-missions. Often this comes in the form on on-the-spot analysis, or putting the puzzle pieces together from prior missions and requests. They are responsible for accurately debriefing all Hunters during missions with the intel and resources provided.
- It is said that Death Hunters know the most about the current status of Halloween, almost to a meticulous level, as well as reasons to and following each mission, as they are given the most clearance for on-site Halloween investigation. This also includes interrogation, suppression (when needed), and weapons candidacy analysis.
- Information also includes both intel and potential samples for analysis. Death and Life Hunters work in unison, as some information, samples, and video feed go to the Life Hunters for further examination and detailed results.

Current Division Leader: Caelius
Current Division Assistant: Mark

Life Hunters

-The research and analysis division. Life Hunters not only do research on the samples and information given by the Death Division but also help develop, maintain, reinforce, and often "patch up" security on Deus itself, as well as new Hunter equipment.
- Life Hunters are the experimental division, their pride comes from their scientific approach to missions and even day-to-day Deus Ex Machina operations. They are also well-balanced in terms of power, but may focus more towards the healing and damage over time/slow/sapping poisons abilities in terms of battle.
- While not entirely necessary, many Life Hunters are trained in equipment maintenance, research, as well as helping with large projects, such as a re-modelling of the Weapons Conversion Apparatus, the Merlin 2.0 project, the Golem projects, the list goes on and on. The best Life Hunters are the ones that have been trained in such research.
- In addition, it is said that the Life Hunter division also plays a large role in the medical aspect of Deus Ex Machina, focusing more on healing over first aid maintenance, though it is usually recommended as a last minute resort...

Current Division Leader: Dr. H
Current Division Assistant: Clarice

Moon Hunters

- Moon Hunters are considered both a defensive and healing division. They are often brought to the front line because of their abilities, protecting other Hunters, and engaging to their full extent of their abilities in saving them pre, during, and post mission
- While Moon and Life Hunters share in hospital and healing duties, Moon Hunters do a lot more of the follow up maintenance, making sure patients are regularly cared for, making sure to change bandages, get supplies, so on so forth. Moon Hunters are in general well-versed in First Aid, as well as how to operate healing-based Hunter tech.
- In addition, Moon Hunters have the highest resistance to Fear through years and years of working on the line. That means not only can they protect themselves against larger Halloween threats, they have the ability to protect others too. Because of this, Moon Hunters usually have a weaker offense, or really, even if they are powerful attackers, they would rather spend the effect to do what they excel in: saving and protecting others. Without Moon Hunters, a mission would simply collapse in itself from the potentially grievous injuries.
- Due to their high Fear resistance, Moon Hunters can also remain exposed to Fear for long periods of time. That means, several Moon Hunters have the ability to even walk around in Halloween for days, though this is usually not recommended for any practical purpose, it serves its uses if any Hunter is ever stranded in Halloween and needs an immediate emergency backup. They are the dispatch team that is usually a staple requirement for any rescue missions
- Moon Hunters also work side-by-side often with Sun Hunters on mission, one in charge of defense, the other working on offense

Current Division Leader:: Edith
Current Division Assistant: Charlotte

Sun Hunters

- Sun Hunters are the offensive team, often dispatched on large scale missions and mission outposts. They serve to eliminate and destroy large infestations of Fear, but may also be assigned to small missions to help out with resources in terms of attack.
- Sun Hunters must be trained in all the weapon arts because of this. They cannot simply excel in their own weapon, but must understand the nuances of using all their abilities to turn the tide of the battle in their favour. That means Sun Hunters also learn how to use Runic Weapons (Hunter Tech weapons), offensive traps, and large scale barriers to the best of their abilities. They also take additional weapons training: in fact, almost all of a Sun Hunter's free time is taken in training, practicing, and making sure their skills never rust. A weak Sun Hunter is a vulnerable one, and they are often requested to move to other divisions should they be considered too weak.
- Sun Hunters are sent in to overwhelm and often, unfortunately, distract. That means it is essential that they know how to take care of themselves and leave no room for weaknesses. While Sun Hunters are often protected by Moon Hunters, this is not the case in solo missions where a mistake or a distraction may mean their demise.
- Unfortunately, Sun Hunters have the highest death toll among all the Hunters due to their risky and dangerous roles as they move among the front lines

Current Division Leader: Allan
Current Division Assistant: Simon

Mist Hunters

- Mist Hunters are the toughest division by far to be in. They are expected to continuously update themselves with all the other division duties, though to a lesser extent, for example, if working with the Death Division, they would also be expected to gather intel, but perhaps not know as well the extent of why they are doing it
- Because of their jack-of-all-trades role, Mist Hunters are required to be extremely flexible in their schedules. They are the division that the other divisions call in when one member in their dispatch team is missing. They are the division that have the ability to "fill in" for other divisions.
- Mist Hunters, due to their experience in all the other divisions, are excellent solo operators. If there are solo missions, usually a Mist Hunter is the first person to be dispatched, as they have the ability to understand all aspects of the division, not just heavily focus on one, and execute a small mission from beginning to completion with the most success. Because of their resourcefulness, Mist Hunters also are extremely valued in Deus Ex Machina, but few trainees graduate to being a Mist Hunter
- It is by far, required of Mist Hunters to learn all the activities of the other divisions. Instead, they simply must be prepared for the fact that they may need to learn extra roles and duties, or assume a filler-in role when the time is needed. While fast learning and adaptability is often an asset for their division, several Mist Hunters often begin to focus a little more on a couple of divisions.
- Lastly, Mist Hunters are often proud of their adaptability and resilience: because of this, they are also known as the special-ops division.

Division Leader: Aria
Division Leader Assistant: Lance

Changing Divisions:

It is not uncommon for a division change request to come in, though they are rarely approved. For trainees, they can request a division change only at the same time as their promotion request. That means, instead of taking their promotion from their existing Division Leader, they would send a request to the division they have interest in changing to, and of course, would need to talk to that Division Leader first, or the Assistant Division Leader prior to the request.

It is often up to the Division Leader whether or not they are open to division changes: changing a division would mean that the Hunter would have to re-learn many aspects of their new division: this is especially taxing for full-fledged Hunters, while more flexible in terms of trainees, who have not gotten much field-work or division specific work yet.

Division requests can ONLY occur if the Division Leader approaches a Hunter requesting them to change divisions due to their skills in that division, or if a Hunter themselves feels like they have been placed in the wrong division and excels in the skills of another. In the latter condition, that Hunter must prove their skills to the other Division Leader or Division Leader Assistant.

OOC
At this moment, there are too many Hunters in the Life and Death divisions. That means all over divisions are open for characters to move in/change to, including OUT of the two aforementioned divisions.

Eg: Life -> Moon = Aokay!
Moon -> Life = Closed.

HOWEVER, if your Hunter character really would like to move to a very specific division, contact a GM and we can work from there.

DIVISION FLAVOUR TEXT

You are a trainee/intermediate/full Hunter, enjoying your time in Deus doing .... ??? Wait a second, what is it that you do for your division again? Here are some entirely IC tasks your character can be doing for their division that is entirely RP FLAVOUR and may help you get a better understanding of what they could be doing. Feel free to rp this as you please, make sure you are of the correct rank, these could be considered division duties, just in case you get tired of rping the words division duties over and over again.

For mandatory missions all Hunters are still expected to be ICly there as long as they are on island. For EMS all rank Hunters can pick and choose, and training courses of course are for everyone.

gaia_crown [ DEATH ]

- Trainee: Trainees, as the lowest rung, aren't expected to do much, more simply spar and learn the ropes on Deus as well as take part on EMs/ etc etc/ tours/ missions.

- Intermediate:
- Submit monthly mission reports status of current ongoings (information on Deus, missions, ems, status updates, etc etc, observations, other Hunters)
- Database work, compiling information about Halloween, Horsemen, etc etc, updating information through submission of reports, so on so forth
- Network update, once again compiling and updating information on current happenings of local Hunters
- Artifact study, archiving, retrieval (flavour text as you please)
- Reconnaissance mission followups of existing EMs (feel free to "retrace" an EM and use elements from it to go back and observe your past footprints)
-Information packaging: informing other Hunters of the current going ons where applicable
- General observation of situation to lead to individual mission proposal (ie: I am spying on __ because they did ___, or I will go visit ___ because I saw ____)
- Weapon golem usage/infiltration
- Interrogation of weapon subjects/ Halloween/ other Hunters
- Weaponization project research

- Full:
- SEE ABOVE
- Individual project proposal: Death Hunters spent a lot of time doing independent research and projects. They are expected to find and expose a current subject they are interested in, provide a mission proposal and engage and follow up with as much information as possible on their current subject. Think of these as LONG TERM PROJECTS your Hunter is always engaged in, like a mini specialization. This is their sort of goal to work towards. This can easily become their specialization or part of it (ie: I can specialize in artifact retrieval, but not be limited only to horsemen artifacts). Really, as long as your character shows IC interest in a topic, they can propose a long term project as a full Hunter. It just takes a quick pm for an idea (pm Zoobey OR WE ARE HALLOWEEN, and it does not need to be followed up ICly with IC approval unless you really want it)
Example 1: Finding about Ourboros and those involved. Proposing to gain more information about them by infiltrating their base.
Example 2: Finding out about horsemen and their current plans. Infiltrating their base and/or interrogation, however you want to do this. Research is fine too, etc etc.
Example 3: Pursuing certain targets for weaponization
Example 4: Helping other divisions research and retrieve various items
Example 5: Helping other divisions scout and layout various "danger zones" or guides.
Example 6: Finding a suspicious target and tagging them while gaining more information/ becoming "familiar" with them until that information is revealed
Example 7: Infiltrating various bases where hidden artifacts are smuggled among humans.
Example 8: Discovering fragments of *some evil thing here* and deciding to do more research to figure out the origins and where it is manifesting
Example 9: Watch a James Bond movie, the old ones, not the new ones, like seriously what was even happening in that Quantum Solace movie bullshit what is this spies dont do explosions unless you're the division lead. I mean Harry Potter does a better job at explaining Death things than that stupid James Bond movie. Anyway whatever you're spy and no you don't instantly know how to hack computers come on. Yes you are allowed one sexy scene. Just one. Let's not push it here.

gaia_crown [ LIFE ]

- Trainee: Trainees, as the lowest rung, aren't expected to do much, more simply spar and learn the ropes on Deus as well as take part on EMs/ etc etc/ tours/ missions. Often Intermediate and Full Life Hunters will take one or several trainees under their wing as interns to offer fuidance and training in exchange for assistance.

- Intermediate: Intermediates should start to focus on the areas of interest.

    - They may decide to focus on infirmary work and the medical aspects of Life division.
    - Become part of one of the larger general division projects, that include:
  • Fear Study
  • Runic Studies and Advancements
  • Weaponization
  • Insanity Study
  • Distortion Study
  • Golem Study

    - Become part of one of the current event projects, that include:
  • Red Eye Study
  • Green Eye Study
  • Merlin & Excalibur related studies
  • Clone Study (this is selective due to the fact that it's directly run by Dr. H who has standards when it comes to who works on his personal projects, please contact lizbot for further information)

    - Come up with their own projects. Dr. H will generally give lower ranked Life hunters a small budget and space to work on the projects they propose, even somewhat outlandish ones. These projects include their own series of tasks, often including but not limited to:
  • Monthly reports
  • Monthly budgeting
  • Groundwork: studying current information on the subject, setting up space for developement and testing, obtaining necessary equipment and materials. The division assistant will often help with these.
  • Developement
  • Testing
  • Developement
  • Testing
  • Developement
  • Testing
  • Paperwork
  • Paperwork
  • Paperwork
  • Paperwork
  • Developement
  • Testing
  • Paperwork

- They may also choose to stick to more standard work, similiar to what trainees do. Cleaning and maintenance are valid tasks, however they're of little worth to those with ambition.

- Full:
- SEE ABOVE
- Full Hunters proposing projects may find themselves with a generous budget, lab space, and even minions.
- Dr. H generally expects a Full Life Hunter to no longer need shepherding or handholding. He will, however, enable most projects. They say god helps those who help themselves. H is much the same. He'll also provide rope for those who wish to hang themselves.

gaia_crown [ SUN ]

- Trainee: Trainees, as the lowest rung, aren't expected to do much, more simply spar and learn the ropes on Deus as well as take part on EMs/ etc etc/ tours/ missions.

- Intermediate:
- Sparring and mentoring other Hunters to spar
- Practice learning and assembling all fields of runic weapons
- Physical weaponless combat hand-to-hand combat without weapons, learning how to function without weapons in emergency situations
- Ability to work as a team, team-building exercises, working together in group missions as tandem, verbal communication
- SYNERGY EXERCISES OF TEAMWORK
- Lots and lots and lots of physical combat, exercise, and activity. Sun Hunters are expected to keep a strict physical regiment to make sure their body is in peak form
- Mental health and well being therapy (where applicable)
- Enemy understanding and identification, being able to pinpoint various types of enemies, weaknesses, and what to look out for, being able to combat enemies of all sizes, understanding how Fear words
- Fear shield adaptation (offensive), being able to handle and maximize Fear shield usage for offensive situations
- Weapons combat (being able to master their weapon as well as Fear charges)
- Artifact retrieval (offensive version, finding offensive/ supportive artifacts for their class)
- Assisting others in various missions as offensive support

- Full:
SEE ABOVE
- Sun Hunters are offensive roles, meaning wherever there is danger, they will be needed to fight and help out for the good cause and there is always danger. Take any IC instance of where your Hunter has felt an unresolved scenario and you can propose it as a sort of mini specialization leadup. For example, hunting down horsemen (via bounties for example, or making up bounties), creating a base to hunt down shadowlings so on so forth. Pm Zoobey or WE ARE HALLOWEEN for a quick approval (no need for rp, just making sure the idea sounds ok). HERE ARE SOME MORE EXAMPLES.

Example 1: Sun Hunter stationed at the Sahara, fighting off waves of creatures located at the Sahara to prevent them from going into the portal.

Example 2: Sun Hunters creating training courses to help other Hunters improve their physical ability, duration prowess

Example 3: Sun Hunters holding tutorials or instructional sessions for other classes for combat and recognizing enemy breakdown.

Example 4: Sun Hunter group sessions where they learn how to work together as teamwork in group combat scenarios.

Example 5: Creating "offensive" variants of existing EMs, such as going to X area for example, and cleaning the trash that you find around it. Cleanup work, ie: removing as much hostility as possible from existing areas or areas they have been lies upon the duty of the Sun Hunters

Example 6: Visiting various locations of the world to help sweep or control population out of controls (see: zombie outbreak, evil dark things, more evil things)

Example 7: Helping other (possibly non Hunters as well) meet their sparring requirements and making sure to help keep them in shape

Example 8: You are a @#$# ninja. Go do the Narutos. But you're not really like a ninja ninja, more like a ninja where you have like some large unreasonable weapon and hit people a lot with it but are really ******** good at what you do and people hate you for it
