The closest thing to a kangaroo in the Deus Ex Machina compound was currently bouncing around outside Room 123. It was making quite a racket, though the sounds could be described as something like a high-pitched "EVIE EVIE EVIE EVIEEEEEEEEEE".
Macropus reine. An interesting, if annoying specimen.

BANG.
"GODDAMNIT!" Eva was, at present, hunched beneath her desk and clutching at her throbbing head. She had been in the midst of getting dressed when she carelessly dropped her glove. She had dropped to her knees and crawled beneath the desk to retrieve it when the suddenly yelling from outside startled her, leading to a rather painful meeting between her skull and the table.
Trying to shake the stars away, the girl held her glove between her teeth as she crawled out from under the desk. With one hand still held against her head, she made her way towards her door and pushed it open. Eva could recognize that voice anywhere, though now that she thought about it, she sounded...different, today. More excited?
"Hey, Reine," Eva grinned, pulling her glove on. She stared at the bouncing girl in amusement for a few seconds before leaning against her door frame and raising her brows. "Something good happen?"

"EVIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Observation the first: Macropus reine appeared to have hugging tendencies.
"Evie Evie Evie did you hear? We get to go out! To the real world! Shopping! They're giving us money to go get stuff for christmas please please tell me you're free today you're free, right?" Huge, blue sparkly eyes gazed at Eva, with a few eyelash flutters added in.
"Please go with me pleaaaaaase I'm so bad at picking presents.."

Woah woah woah, hold it--go out? Real world? Shopping?
This must have been some kind of dream come true. If it was possible, Eva's grin seemed to grow even wider. Laughing, she practically bowled over the younger girl with an hug of her own, her eyes bright when she drew back.
"Are you kidding me? Of course I'm free! I'm definitely in!"
Ooh, who should she buy gifts for?! She hadn't been here long, but there were a few people who she would like to get things for, like Reine, and Otto, and--oh hell, maybe she could get everyone a little trinket!

"YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!" Reine was practically dancing around Eva, pulling the other girl into what seemed like a mix of jig, waltz, and mess. So much excitement- Reine was already making lists of who to get presents for, and what presents..
1. Eva (secretly) - Look out for what she likes!! Something pretty? 2. Otto - Chew toy? Puppy treats? Some kind of food 3. Jordan - I don't know what does he like aahhh what 4. Robert - My Little Pony figurine 5. Petra - ...Um. Something.. generic.... I guess.. 6. Jude - A.. a brush? 7. Maddie - Some kind of accessory? 8. Jerry - A book of music scores! 9. Kat - Something with cats on it! Phone charm or hairclips?
"D'you have any idea where we should go shopping, though? I mean- the world's huge! Wow. I bet we could travel or something!"

Laughing with excitement, Eva was more than happy to join in with the strange dance they had going on. To any trainees or Hunters passing by, they probably looked ridiculous, but she didn't really care, because really, Christmas gifts! Figuring out gifts was going to be hard considering that she hardly knew some of her fellow trainees, but hopefully Reine could give her some advice!
"...Good question!" Could they really jump around to wherever, she wondered? It'd be nice to visit those places that she had always wished the travel to...but no, there wasn't any time for that. They had to get all their gifts by the end of the day! "That depends--can you speak any languages other than English?"
Eva raised a glove hand to cup her cheek, and then she froze, slowly staring down at herself. Since she hadn't been expecting to go out, she had dressed herself in her usual uniform, jacket, scarf, and all. Going out in public like this didn't seem like a good idea, did it? "...Hold that thought, Reine. I'll be back in a sec!"
She suddenly darted in the room, her door closing behind her with a click. There was the sound of a closet door sliding open, drawers being opened and closed, and then she finally emerged again after a few minutes, donning a slightly more practical (and normal) outfit of a sweater dress, tights, and boots.
"Sorry. You were saying?"

"Well yes I know----" Languages had always sort of been a passion with Reine, though given the circumstances she was more than a little out of touch with the ones she'd learned.
The girl pouted when Eva cut her off, closing her door; even if she'd promised to be 'back in a sec'. What could be that important, come onnn, they were wasting shopping time!
"Evieeeeeeeee," she whined. "Are you done yettttttttttttt--- YAY!!" The moment Eva reappeared, Reine grabbed her hand and dragged her off towards the portals.
"I can't believe we're going shopping~ Wait, did we decide on where to go?"

"No idea," Eva chirped, her voice still cheerful, "I guess no where too fancy, though, considering that we probably don't have that much to spend." She also needed to buy gifts for...eight people? Reine, Otto, Gale, Davey, Bix, Jude...maybe that Cass girl (who she didn't know, but sounded cool!) and something small for Robert too? She wasn't entirely sure if she'd have money leftover at the end of the day, but maybe she could manage to squeeze in a pack of candycanes to hand out to the other trainees.
"Hmm, how many people will you be shopping for anyways?" She wondered if there was anyone--aside from their puppy, of course--that was on both of their lists. She was going to have a lot of trouble picking things out for these people, she knew.

"Nowhere too fancy, huh? I kinda want to go to New York. Or, like, Paris.. guess that's kind of asking too much though..." Evie was right about budget.. and considering the number of people she was planning to shop for, it was probably better to start cheap.
"Lessee..." She counted them off one-by-one, putting up a finger for every person. "Otto, Robert, Petra, Boss.... Jude, Kat, Jerry and Maddie." Reine left her friend's name out on purpose- she didn't want Eva to possibly ruin the surprise for herself.
"How about you?"

"Ooh, New York might be doable!" They would probably have a harder time finding things to buy in Paris (and they would probably get too easily distracted by things), but New York would work, probably! If they knew where in NY to go, at least.
Eva didn't seem surprised by the list of names that Reine reeled off--she had had a feeling that they would probably have some issues balancing their budget. Lifting her own hands, she began to tick off her own list.
"I've got Otto and Jude too...along with Gale, Davey, Bix...and maybe something small for Cass and Robert?" Not quite as long as Reine's list, though that wasn't counting Reine. She still wasn't sure what she was going to buy her friend--maybe she would be able to find out what kind of things she liked while they were out shopping together.

Reine wrinkled up her nose as Eva listed names- she hardly knew her friend's friends, and while that didn't bother her too much, she was just a little surprised that their circles were so different.
"We can.. get presents for Otto and Jude together, maybe? I'm kind of at a loss as to what to get them-- I don't know the others, though.." She'd already picked out something for Robert, from talking to him on their last mission, though she didn't mind sharing a present for him as well. It'd save them both money, right?
"Oh! I think I need to get my ears pierced, as well."
Flinging herself at Eva, Reine hugged her friend tightly, then bounced back away, hopping down the corridor towards the portal room.
"I'M SO EXCITEDDDD, EVIEEEEE!"
That much.. was obvious.

Hmmm, getting presents together? "That actually sounds like a pretty awesome idea! I mean, I wasn't sure what to get Puppy, but Jude..." Eva trailed off with a mischievous grin, raising her brows at Reine. She wasn't sure if the other girl had had the same idea as she did, but personally, when Eva thought of Jude, she thought specifically of his long, nice hair.
And how he was in desperate need of cooler (or cuter) hair accessories.
The sudden hug-attack had her stumbling back, but it hadn't been entirely unexpected. Laughing, she was quick to follow after her friend, trying to keep her pace. "So am I, to be honest! Hopefully we'll manage to find everything we're looking for!"
Off to the portal room, and off to NYC~

"Yay!" Reine giggled, walking backwards ahead of Eva, before twirling around again. "I was thinking of getting Jude, like.. a hair brush, and maybe some stuff to tie his hair with. Did you have any ideas?"
The moment they stepped out of the portal Reine was in awe. Never mind that they were in some alleyway- it was an alley in New York! Squealing with glee, Reine clutched at Eva.
"I can't believe we're here, Evie! We're really here!"
She'd completely forgotten to wait for Eva, before dashing off towards what looked like the city area. Which mall? WHICH MALL???

Reine was the cutest.
Eva didn't seem bothered at all that the girl zipped off without waiting. In fact, she seemed amused, trailing after her friend at a much more leisurely pace so that she could take in their surroundings. Hmmm, so this was New York, was it? "Nice," she murmured approvingly (once she was out of the actual alleyway), "Could deeefinitely get used to this place!"
BUT ALAS, no time for sight seeing! They were here on a mission, and not one that involved shooting (what seemed like) an innocent boy in an apron who was--
--Okay. okay. Enough of that.
As for which mall? THE BIGGEST MALL IN THE AREA, PLEASE! In hindsight, they should have dragged someone along to hold their stuff.

"I know, right?" Reine chattered happily, having eventually zoomed back to Eva. She linked arms with the other girl, excitedly pointing at things- they were really just missing a camera and a map to be the perfect tourists.
"That oneeeee, how about that one?" Reine pointed at a particularly huge mall. Before waiting for Eva's response, Reine dragged her friend through the crowd, and into the mall.
"Should we start from the top and work our way down? I always do that! Maybe we can have lunch here, too? Or something? This is so amazinggg Evie I wish we had more days like this!"
