Okay, patrolling. She could definitely do this! Definitely! At the moment, Peklo didn't really understand the concept of patrolling in the least. You ran around and looked for monsters? Who would do that?! It was just asking to be killed!!
Needless to say, Peklo had no self-confidence, and wasn't gaining some any time soon. ********* had at least talked her into respecting her duties again, but it was easier said than done.
Honestly, Peklo was just hoping that no monsters would show up, and she would just be taking a brisk walk at a much faster pace. It never was though, was it?
Soon, a large, hulking mass had attacked her. Instead of being the big strong knightly page she was, Peklo was cowering in the corner behind some boxes sniffling and crying for dear life. "Go awaaay," she whined, but of course the youma didn't listen. They never did, right? "Please go awayyyy."

Patrolling had become a regular occurrence for Celsus, who found the whole ordeal...not so much of an ordeal. He had gotten into several scrapes before (most of them not so pleasant, of course, but a few had been somewhat enlightening) - but for the most part, Celsus was glad to finally have something to do, something to stand for. He had spent nineteen years of his life working towards this - and he'd be damned if he was going to squander it.
Which meant working as hard as he could to become someone the Princess could depend on (and Virgo, for that matter).
This particular night was rather cold; it was December, after all, and a chilly little wind had picked up a fitful pace, brushing Celsus' hair back away from his face. He narrowed his eyes just a small amount, his gaze sweeping over the dark, shadowed streets of Destiny City, careful to not miss any detail...
Something shivered up and down his spine - a power signature, just around the corner from where he stood. It was not a member of Chaos, which meant it was someone on his side, and Celsus quickly quickened his pace, moving swiftly.
He rounded the corner and found -
Another knight. Peklo, to be exact, judging by her enormous pale braids that hung down her back and the small voice that was barely audible over the growling of the youma that loomed menacingly above her.
"Well," said Celsus, hands on his hips. "You're not particularly nice looking, are you? Something like a cross between a dog and a parrot..."
The thing swung its ugly head around to look at him, and Celsus took the distraction, darting forward towards Peklo, slipping between her and the youma.
"Evening, beautiful," he said to her with a wink. "Lovely night for a stroll, isn't it?"

Peklo couldn't help but think she was going to die. She was going to die right here and now, her parents would never know, and she would have failed the princess. That must be what was going to happen. The worst part?
She was going to die again.
Suddenly there was Celsus, getting in between the two and protecting her. She let out a gasp and said, "C-C-Celsus!" Peklo wiped her eyes and stood up. She tried to stand heroically as she could, but it probably wasn't about to work any time soon.
"Why are you h-h-here!" she hiccuped. Needless to say, she was surprised. She hadn't seen him since the surrounding! This also meant the Surrouding really happened; that was a bit scary, and completely terrifying. Right now her mind wasn't really focused on that though. She was more afraid of Celsus getting hurt by the dog-parrot-thing because of her.

"Isn't that the ultimate question?" said Celsus lightly, swinging his leg out in a kick that sent the youma staggering sideways, grunting in irritation. "Why am I here? Why is anyone here? What is the meaning of life - oof."
The youma in question had flung an arm out, catching Celsus across the middle. He stumbled to his left, wheezing for air.
"That wasn't very nice," he complained, and then reached down and grabbed Peklo's arm, pulling her up to her feet.
"Come on, darling," he said. "No use sitting around and doing nothing! One thing you need to learn about being a knight of Chronos is to always be on your feet."
The youma was trundling towards them, snarling menacingly, and Celsus put an arm around Peklo's shoulders, carefully maneuvering her behind him.
"That, and these things are really disgusting..."

Peklo looked up at her knight in shining armor older knight companion and tried to take a somewhat more .. defensive pose. Considering she was short to begin with, had thick, thick glasses and a bit of a crybaby face, it wasn't working well. Still, she was standing up. That was a start.
Then he pushed her behind him and she felt kind of bad. She was always having to be protected, wasn't she. Useless Layton.
But she wasn't Layton now. Now ... Now she was Peklo! That had to count for something right? She took a step forward and to the left, now standing next to Celsus instead of behind him. This was probably the most courageous thing she'd done in her pathetic little life.
"Wh-what do I do Celsus!" she said, trembling. The youm was snarling and hissing at them now, and she had to fight the urge to go back to the corner and whimper. She had to fight hard not to do that. "I want to help!"

The youma screamed forward, one arm jutting out and Celsus just barely caught it, wincing a bit as its thick, taloned fingers scraped along his wrist. Jerking the creature off of its feet, Celsus flung one leg upwards, landing a hard kick to its middle and sending it careening backwards into the opposite wall.
"Ow. That rather hurt."
He was bleeding, but the cut was shallow, not deep at all. Celsus frowned at it a bit, then glanced back at Peklo.
"Helping doesn't always mean putting yourself in danger," he said, and smiled, even as there was a horrible grumbling sound and the youma pushed itself up again, snarling and spitting.
"But it does mean knowing when to be quick."
A claw shot out, and Celsus grabbed Peklo's hand, jerked her arm upwards and, his arm parallel to hers, swept both of their hands out at the creature, hard and fast. It staggered back, howling. Celsus dropped his fingers away, his hands on Peklo's shoulders.
"Just hit it as hard as you can and remember that I'm right behind you."

Peklo gasped when Celsus started bleeding. Oh no he got hurt and it was all her fault. She was a failure- A FAILURE.
She didn't have time to cry about though, because Celsus was jerking her left and right. "Woah- WOAH!" Peklo squeaked as the boy moved her around.
Soon Celsus had his hands on her shoulders and was prompting her to move forward. "Ohhh but wh-what if it-" she squeaked. The monster dog was already staggering its way back onto its paws. Celsus was right- she'd have to be quick. "O-Okay I'll do it!" she said, taking a step or two forward.
Just her and the dog. She could do this. She could do thissss.
Peklo lurched forward and very gently kicked- no it was more of a nudge, wasn't it?- the youma in between its wings. Unfortunately this did nothing but anger the youma, moving it back onto its feet. Peklo jumped about two feet backwards and looked at Celsus, eyes wide, "Wh-What do I do?!"
