Story Time!
So my friend invited me to this roleplay. The winner wins millions of gold for their avatar. That part isn't important to me. Sure it would be nice to win extra gold; but it's not a big deal. In any case, it intrigued me because I am a competitive person and it had potential. I didn't say I would join though. I only really said hello and that I couldn't join because of school. Then he said:
You're quite the energetic one now aren't you?
I do not mean to sound harsh but...
I somehow doubt you are a literate Role-player.
I can only RP with literate-advanced literate players, sorry.
Glad you hold interest though.
Then my friend (who invited me) defended me by saying something about how I'm the best roleplayer she knows. Haha I'm kidding. She just pointed something out about I am literate. But in chat she said she invited me because she thinks I'd be able to win against the ones that joined so far. Or something along those lines. I on the other had merely laughed and said that I didn't know what to say to that. He ignored me and sent this response to her:I do not mean to sound harsh but...
I somehow doubt you are a literate Role-player.

Glad you hold interest though.
Oh?Then I look forward to a profile if you are interested.
What is that supposed to mean? He was quoting her so you would assume that he wasn't talking to me at any point in that response but the last part seems out of place related to what she said if he was saying it to her. So confusing. What do you think about the response?
Now here is the thing...why did he think that I was illiterate at first glance?
My friend thought it was because I was kind of dressed in newb clothes (which isn't true now obviously).
I thought it was because I probably don't speak in the most intelligent way while in OOC.
Which do you think it is?
Also, him assuming that made me want to drop everything I was doing and actually join the roleplay for real...as a guy who is naive, dumb and a klutz. I'd probably make it so he shouldn't win and would end up dying. That way if he did win it would be super funny. Plus, that guy would be SO much fun to roleplay. I get really excited about joining something when I come up with a character idea that seems awesome (more in a fun to play and unique kind of way).
So should I check to see if I'm still not allowed? Or just give it up and move on?
Oh and I think my response to what he said about being illiterate made me think the first truly conceited thought ever. Probably because I'm super competitive and he just ousted me before I could even decide to play. That thought was:
He's going to miss the most creative roleplayer he'd ever come across.
Does that make me a bad person? Why did I think that? It's not like I REALLY think that. After all, there are a ton of creative people in the world.
By the way, I was already in a bad mood but somehow the absurdity of it all made me feel somewhat better. Haha
Have you ever run across anything similar?
