VERSION:

Welcome to the Revolutionary Item Pricelist. Our main goal with this price guide is to provide accurate information for new and old exchangers. We have carefully looked at what most people want in a price guide, learnt from this and have tried to develop a resource that lives up to all demands. We have developed many new methods and techniques to have our prices as accurate as possible, and we do our very best to make the information we provide about the Gaian items as complete as we are able.

Along with many others, we noticed that the original method of price updating used by other price guides isn't as accurate as most exchangers would want it to be. For those who are not known with that process, it works as follows:
The price guide selects some of their members to be price updaters. These updaters will then lurk around the exchange forum and marketplace, keeping track of the prices the items are sold for and then update the prices in the guide where needed. The major drawback about this, however, is that updating takes a lot of time and effort and cannot be done very often. We have therefore developed a system that is far more efficient and precise, so that the prices can be updated every day in a matter of minutes, and operated by a single person.

Aside from the traditional tasks of a price guide (provide a list of prices for items that are not being sold in stores and have prices that aren't always the same) we also provide other information, such as our store item (a.k.a. common) list, a fishing guide, fashion tips, a signature-art guide, an exchanging-walkthrough for new members, and other useful information which users may desire.

Our price guide cannot be as good as we want it to be without your support and feedback. Showing your support can be done in many ways; from posting one of our banners in your signature, to becoming an active member in our guild. The guild itself is basically open to anyone, and joining never means you have to be active. Joining our guild is showing that you support our cause, and we welcome anyone! If you have suggestions or ideas concerning our price guide, then you are very welcome to submit them in our feedback thread. We welcome feedback very much indeed; since it is our duty to provide the information exchangers want to have. If we aren?t in constant contact with our users, we'll never be able to satisfy them.

HOW TO USE THE GUIDE

First of all, we would like to note that this priceguide is in no way directly connected to the Gaia Administration. The guide is built and maintained by normal users (even though some of us are pretty goofy). Feedback, questions or complains about the Guide, as long as it is not about the guide being in violation of the rules of Gaia, should be directed to members of the R.I.P. Staff.

We also wish to point out that the Revolutionary Item Pricelist is a priceguide, and not a pricebible. We always try our very best to keep the prices as up to date and accurate as possible, but we?re all still human, we all have lives of our own and are not able to provide 100% accurate information. Please always use your own brains and judgement in pricing, instead of blindly following the prices we stated, to avoid situations that might cost you a lot of gold.

The item pricelist of the non-store items is built up like this:

Quote:
Name of the item
Gaia's description of the item
Item contained
Exchange Price last Updated: Most recent date of updating
User Image
1) Picture of the item when equipped on an avatar.
2) Picture of the item as it shows in your inventory or on the marketplace.

Estimated Value: Estimated value of the item.

Investment Update (For the month of February):
This is where written information concerning the current, past, and predicted future values of the item will be posted.

The list of store items:

Quote:
Picture of the item in your inventory, in the stores or on the marketplace.
Name: Name of the item
Store Price: Price the item costs when bought in the store.
Sellback: Gold received when the item is sold back to the store.
Description: Gaia's description of the item.
Gender: Indicates which avatars can wear this item: Male, Female or Unisex
Equip: Where the item is equipped.

Coming soon: Fishing Guide and Common Item List
Date added: Saturday, June 4th, 2005

Democalyps finally succeeded in making Project Atlantis, which is used to update the prices of the fishing items, work. We hope to launch the fishing guide this weekend, but give no guarantees. As you all may have noticed, we have developed a habit of delaying stuff, so we decided to be more carefull in pointing exact dates for the launch of things... sweatdrop

The Common item list was planned to launch in Alfa too, but it turned out to be a lot more work than we expected. We've got about 60% of the data gathered, and will resume work on it as soon as possible. Anyone willing to help out can still PM Democalyps ^^

Launch R.I.P. Alfa Version
Date added: Thursday, June 2nd, 2005

A lot later than we estimated, but the time has finally come. Due to Democalyps burning out and other business that slowed down the process, the actual launch is now two months later than we planned it. We offer our honest apologies for this, but hope that you will all be able to forgive us for it. We will start the process to R.I.P. Beta right away, and have tons and tons of features and plans for it. The guide is far from as complete and good as we planned it to be, but we decided that it was high time to launch at least something. We hope you will all enjoy what we have so far

Final build-up of the R.I.P. Alfa Version
Date added: Thursday, May 5th, 2005

We hereby officially announce that the Alfa version of our guide is just about ready. We have gathered nearly all data, and are currently copying it all into this thread. This will continue over the next 3 days (hopefully less). Please stay tuned!

FAQ

Quote:
Question: Why did you guys make yet another priceguide? There already are plenty of them!
Answer: True, but the current priceguides are not as accurate as the exchangers would want them to be. We created a system that allows more accurate and frequent updating.

Quote:
Question: What is that system, and how does it work?
Answer: The answer to that question is known to very few people. Democalyps, the creator of the system, is the only one who knows the exact details of how it works. We prefer to keep it a secret, so that the other priceguides can't steal our ideas and technology.

Quote:
Question: How can I become a member or help out around the priceguide?
Answer: The best thing to start with would be to join the guild. Nearly anyone will be accepted to it, unless we have a good reason to keep someone out. Posting in our Job Request thread will let us know that youre interested in helping out around the priceguide itself. If we are in need of some extra crew, then we will search that list and select the person who we think is best for the job. Being active in the guild will make you more familiar to the R.I.P. administrators, and improves your chances of being selected.

Quote:
Question: Will I be banned from the guild if Im not active?
Answer: No, the only way to get banned is by violating our rules, or behaving in an intolerable manner within the guild.

Quote:
Question: Why arent all parts of the pricelist on one page, but seperated over multiple pages in this thread?
Answer: The reason is pretty simple: It just doesnt fit.

Quote:
Question: But its pretty annoying to have to load other pages the whole time in order to view the item price needed!
Answer: We also realised that. There currently is no solution to this, but to have multiple windows so that you dont have to load the others the whole time. A future project will be the CPU: The Compact Pricelist Unit. This will be a small thread in the guild, where all the non-store items will be listed without the other information and images; just the name of the item and its estimated prices. This will allow exchangers to quickly load it and look up the price of a specific item.

Quote:
Question: Can I buy -item- from Keeper of the Grave?
Answer: No. The items equipped on Keeper of the Grave are not for sale.

Quote:
Question: Who is Keeper of the Grave anyway?
Answer: Keeper of the Grave is the official mule account of the R.I.P. It is controlled by Democalyps, Joewithajay and the members who work on the thread.

Quote:
Question: Whos the owner/boss/leader of R.I.P.?
Answer: Both Joewithajay and Democalyps. They are both owners and creators of R.I.P., and neither one of the two is placed higher than the other.

Quote:
Question: I've got some great ideas about the guide! Where can I post them?
Answer: There will be a feedback thread for this soon, but we haven't had time to tend to that yet. You can either write your ideas down and submit them when the thread is up, or make a thread about them in the guild. We highly recommend the first option though...

FASHION DEPARTMENT

By Hong-Yunsung

Fashion Tips

1. Try to avoid dressing in sets - I know it was once the "in" thing to do, but now it's just very unoriginal. Try to mix and match your clothing, and don't use 2 of items of the same set in one look. You'll be surprised at the infinite possibilities.

2. Refrain from using items that do not match your avatar at all. I know it sounds silly, your probably like "who on earth would do that" well people do it, sad to say. for example, I have mostly a black and red and orange avatar (my main look that is) and the red wine pimpin hat and demonic pendant, and other items that match and go well with my avy, I wouldn't go and put those trap jaw things on my persons mouth.

3. Angelic and Demonic avatars are in, and a good idea would be to try and mix the 2 - There's nothing wrong with mixing dark and light, it's eye catching. Also, don't over do it with one of the two. Too many angelic items, or too many demonic items, can sorta look, "not so good", and very unoriginal.

4. Try to use more than 1 color. Sometimes no matter how many items you have on, if they're all the same color, it's still gonna seem plain. Try at least 2 colors. 3 colors would be nice. And rainbow colors are always exciting and fun.

5. For those of you who have a cluttered avatar, please take time and reduce the number of items on your person - if we can't see any part of your skin then it's cluttered, and would be a fashionable decision to un-clutter it a bit. Also, if you have more than 3 items (depending on how much of each items actually shows up) your head, it can be over cluttered. Using more than one head accessory is nice, but don't over do it.

6. Working with black and red? Most of you, every time you see a black and red avatar automatically think it's unoriginal. It's not the color scheme that's unoriginal. (Because it's impossible to have an original color scheme, they've all been done.) Instead of always wearing the black and red 90's pants and the black and or white 70's shirt, use other items, you can still use those items but try not to use them together like many of you do (even I have done it). Mix other red and black items in with your avatar. You can still be very original by using black and red. You just have to be creative, and everything has to match and flow nicely.

7. Accessorize people!!! Try adding accessories to your avatar to even out the colors of your avatar. But don't over do it with the accessories. It could get cluttered. Remember, everything in moderation.

8. Do my blacks match? If your black top is pitch black and your pants are black but they have a blue or greyish tint to them, or just don't look the same black as the top, or something else your trying to match it with, then it doesn't really match now does it? Try to match your colors perfectly. Different shades and tints of the one color your trying to match isn't going to match too well, unless you repeat each of those different shades and tints of that color more than once in your avatar.

Fashion Do's and Don'ts

Do's
1. Use more than one color, preferably 2 or 3. And evenly distribute the colors on your avatar - for example if you have a green bow make your pants or shoes green, not your hair, it would be different if you had a hat, it's ok to match the color of your hat with the color of your hair. Green on green or any color that's right on top of the same color does not look right.
Here is a good example: User Image
she has good contrast, and she sorted out her colors in the right place.

2. You should try to be original. Try to wear a combination that no one has worn before, and look half way decent at the same time.
Here is an example: User Image
Illusions Ba Kkwuh, was very original and creative with this. She matched everything well, it's stylish, and it's quite unique. I've never seen this combination of items before.

Don'ts

1. You should try to stay away from using just one color. It's a fashion no no.
For example: User Image
He only used the color blue. Using different shades of the same color don't count. There needs to be some contrast.

2. Cluttering your avatar is a bad idea, too many items on one avatar at one time will not only suffocate your avy to death so it cant breath gonk whee but it doesn't look too nice either.
For example: User Image
I luff queeneb to death but her avy is cluttered. It's actually an ok avatar, but I would give this particular style a 5.9/10, she just needs a little less items is all.

Avatar Spotlight

Heisei: User Image

I don't really like it much. Yes it may be original, but it lacks something. Style maybe? It seems a bit disorganized and a bit bland. Maybe he needs more accessories. The little white hat on the top is not the best thing for his avy. But the overall rating I would give him is a 6/10.

Atrocious: User Image

Now this is a good example of stylish originality. This is by far the most stylish original avatar I have seen in a while. The braided hair and the skirt are really working for this avatar. She has nice color scheme and the colors are evenly distributed throughout her avatars body, it's like a work of art in a sense.
