Out in the market streets, a girl with a baby dragon resting on her shoulders, dressed in an unusual one piece outfit, sandals, orange cloth tied her waist, green cape and a flower made out of gold with a large ruby in the center, an inheritance of the Coventry family, walked alone with a smile on her face. The sunshine made her green hair stick out like plant yearning for the sun's rays and her blue eyes were like the endless ocean. Her smile hid any secrets she may hide, which so far its several. She isn't who she appears to be; the supposed seven year old girl is actually 24 right now because of a side effect from becoming an Esper. Then there is also her ultimate goal of becoming the best grey robed wizard in the world, doing whatever it takes so she can return home to her family and show them that she is worthy of the Coventry name. However, the growling stomachs of both Jade, the young green haired girl, and Mist, the baby dragon, told them it was time to eat. "Maybe we can find some meat for you Mist. Hope it isn't too pricey." she said to Mist as it growled adorably. Giggling, she looked around the food section for meat and veggies.

Trace Coventry was wandering around the market streets looking for some food he could steal. He was wearing a gray robe that went down past his ankles, but stopped short above his feet. His robe was one of the few that had a hood. That hood was currently drawn up around his head, shadows being cast around his face. Trace walked by multiple stalls. He 'accidentally' collided with some woman, landed on a food stall, and grabbed some food. After he grabbed the food, he slid down to the ground and pocketed the stolen items. Without apologizing for the collision, Trace left the area of stalls and headed down the market streets. He heard a child giggling. Curious, he turned and looked at her. He frowned in mock disbelief, due to his lack of emotions. He put a hand in front of the hood opening and muttered a small incantation. The hood opening darkened to any who saw it, but he could still see clearly. He cautiously approached the girl and spoke. "Excuse me but, is that... a dragon?" He was curious in the strange creature perched upon the girls shoulder.

Jade looked around the stalls for a bit before she found one that sold a meat vegetable stir fry. Perfect! She ran over to the stall and asked the cook, "Can I have one stir fry please?" The cook honored her request and made Jade a fresh batch. After paying for her meal, Jade found an isolated comfortable stone bench to sit on and with a pair of chopsticks, started eating her meal with Mist. "Here comes the train Mist!" she said playfully as she fed Mist meat from the stir fry. Then a strange covered in grey robes went up to her asked her if what is on her shoulder is a dragon. She couldn't tell who the stranger is because his face is shrouded from the robe, but wearing a grey robe usually means a grey robe wizard, and they follow the Knights of Takamit; the same kind she works for. "Um, yes. This is Mist. She is a dragon." Then she tried feeding a vegetable to Mist but it refused. "Come on Mist. You won't know if you like it if you don't try it."

Trace smiled. It was indeed his sister. He crouched down a little next to her ear and whispered, "Jade, it's me, Trace. We need to talk. Follow me so I can show my face." Trace hoped she believed him and walked into a secluded alleyway. He had set up a base recon camp there. He was under orders to find his sister and bring her in but he would never do it. He couldn't do it. He pulled the raw meat from his pocket, set it on a wooden table and used a basic fire spell on it to cook it. When the meat was done, he put out the fire and broke it off into small chunks. He then thought back to about a month ago. Trace and his father was carrying home a full grown woman. She was unconscious. His father refused to tell him who she was. They laid her on a bed and left for the den. There Trace meditated until she entered the room. She began speaking but his father cut her off and told her to leave. Trace hated his father for that. He then knew who she was. He watched her leave with sorrow in the pit of his stomach. Trace rose his hand to the shroud covering his face and removed the spell that made it.

For moment, Jade just watched the man who proclaimed that he is Trace, an older sibling of hers. She looked to Mist for guidance. "What do you think Mist?" Mist made no growling or had any signs of anger toward the man, so he might be telling the truth. "Well...might as well then." she said, and stood up with Mist on her shoulders. Carrying the stir fry, she walked and kept feeding herself and Mist while following Trace down the secluded alley. She watched him as he cooked meat with a fire spell that her family uses, and then revealed himself. His face is the genuine Trace, although tears were trying to come out, she shut her eyes for moment so she couldn't cry. "Trace...why are you here? You know my family hates me...and doesn't want me a part of them anymore...you shouldn't be around me..."

Trace knew all of what she was saying was true. "I know this Jade. I left our family. Father was a fool. The Thorn Sect wants me to bring you in but I won't. I can't. I will protect you." Trace picked up a small chunk of meat and tossed it in his mouth. He chewed it thoughtfully and looked around. He didn't like the place much. He could bring his sister to his own plane and talk to her there but it's difficult to cast that spell. He could train her in magic that she had missed out on. He was one rank above her at magic. He sighed. "What happened after you left? Where did you go?"

Jade isn't sure what to say. What Trace is telling her is also confusing her. Why would he leave the family if he was one of the respected members? What did the Thorn Sect want with her? And just what is it that seemed different about Trace? He isn't behaving like his usual self. Then she knew what happened. "You...you became like me...why? Why did you do that? Our family abandoned me for that...I don't understand..." Before Jade went crazy she took several deep breathes, then she continued speaking calmly. "I just...went around...been trying to get better and live on my own as who I am...or what I am...I'm not ready to go back to them...to our family...I need to become better than them...not the failure they saw me as..."

Trace was already braced for her wrath that did not come. She had contained her anger and spoke of her travels. He nodded at her explanation. She needed to prove and redeem herself. Trace understood the feeling. He lowered the hood of the robes and sat down in a chair. He looked at his sister and said, "I will not take you back. I wish to aid you on your quest. Maybe train you in what our father did not. We need to avoid the Takimit guards though. The Knights of Thorn has the entire guard after you. They're afraid you'll leak the secrets we've been taught as Gray Robes."

"What...why? Why are they after me? I did nothing that made me suspicious..." Jade said to Trace. Her situation may not be the best in the world, but to have the Knights of Takamit after her even though she is loyal to them is crazy. They ordered Trace, her own brother, to bring her in. "Why are you doing this?...why are you helping me for? You have no reason to do this...I'll just be trouble..."

Trace frown deepened as he heard his sister speak. "As I told you before, the Thorn Sect are afraid of leaks. Loose ends and all." He listened to her without really hearing her. He wouldn't leave the Knights of Takamit because He needed to learn more magic and teach his sister. "Why am I doing this? Hmm... I believe that I am doing this because once I became like you, I lost all emotion except my protective drive. I need to protect you. And as for trouble, I have already made it so that we can't be followed magically or otherwise. Eavesdroppers will hear idle chatter between a man and a young girl. We're safe. Now, I need to go and check in with a higher up. They might get suspicious if I don't check in soon."

How could the Thorn sect consider her a loose end? Jade never got into something so deep, or discovered so huge a secret that they would want to get rid of her. She also didn't do anything to make them think that she could betray them, though she didn't do much to aide them. Still, she wasn't planning on turning against the. It saddened her that her brother had to go, but he was going to come back for her. With a nod, she said to him, "Okay...please come back for me...I don't want to lose you..."

*~Poe~* Poe landed in the center of Market street and placed Claudia down noticing her blushing once again. Still uncertain of why, he was a little concerned. The people staring at them not making him feel better. "Are...you ok? Is it my...flying that makes your face red?" He was a little worn out himself. The flight from Vallenwood Village to Palanthas wasn't exactly short, plus this was actually the farthest he had ever been from his village. "Um...this might seem a little odd to ask, but do you know your way around here? I only knew...the way here I've never actually been...my friend Carmon says this place...is a great area to get information..." He was panting and his wings where getting a little stiff.

Claudia didn't notice her face was red so she shook her head to try and cover up her embarrassment."No..No!I'm fine I swear.Sorry about that."She said with a small sigh. She examined Poe knowing he was exhausted from all the flying and carrying her onto of it.She was about to say something when he asked her if she knew her way around these parts."I'm...afraid not.See I never left that town until now. But, you should stay here and rest for a while.I'll ask some people about this place and even look for a map if I can.Just wait here."She exclaimed and before the man could protest she took off.

*~Poe~* Poe was relieved that Cludia was fine, but was against here leaving on her own and was about to protest, but she left before he could open his mouth again. He sighed and with a brief weak smile folded his wings and looked for a place to rest, and maybe "aquire" a new sword like the one he lost. First he examined the people passing him by. Unfortunately none of them had a sword similar to his. Then he looked at some of the stands not to close, but as a casual observer. He noticed one that looked exactly like his, but it was surrounded by people. Also adding the fact he was waiting for Claudia to return hecould only stare at the blade because if he ran after taking it she might get lost trying to find him and he would feel horrible about that. Poe let out a sigh and mumbbled to himself. "Damn Sorcerer..."
