I am not comfortable enough with my big belly to do belly dancing, but y'all know I dance my face off in musicals. Partner dancing and tap dancing are my favorites.
I have just been REALLY BUSY with two shows and two day jobs. WHEW.
I LOVE YOU ALL AND I'M SORRY I'M SO MIA I WILL BE AROUND MORE WHEN I'M ON WINTER BREAK FROM MY JOBS. <3
But it's easier to belly dance with a big belly! If you're super skinny you have to work harder to make it all jiggle.
And jiggling is a good thing. In fact, if you can do it right, it's an awesome thing.
Speaking of being uncomfortable with bellies, you (generally) can tell who's still a beginner in my classes because newer ones will keep their shirts on for the whole thing and anyone who's been around for a while will take their shirt off or roll it up after warm up (we wear sports bras during practice, so this isn't as scandalous as it sounds) so we can see our bellies better. As you can see from the pictures, we're all different sizes, so it's not because we're all miraculously skinny.
My point here, I guess, is that if you put yourself in a (non-judgemental) situation where you show your belly often, eventually you just get used to it. |
