Personalities
Repent
(-)Arrogant -
Repent is to be blunt, a self obsessed a*****e. His arrogance is such that the only person that matters to him in his little world is himself. Consequence of this is he struggles to make honest friendships as other people will always be, in his mind, a step below himself. Any pleasantness towards other people is generally a ploy to further his own personal goals.
(-)Ignorant-
Stupid but not endearingly so, it takes a while to realise that part of Rep's callousness is down to sheer ignorance. Intellectual pursuits are of no interest to him, should something fall outwith his rather narrow interests it is deemed to be someone else's problem. The upswing of this however is that he will enact most orders without a word of dissent, he's not interested enough to want to know the intel behind the commands, simply what to hit and how hard.
(+)Honest -
Rep is honest by sheer virtue of not being smart enough to convincingly lie. What he says can generally be taken as the truth and a genuine reflection of his thoughts. When he does try to lie, it's usually with such a blatant underestimation of the addressed person's intelligence as to be insulting.
(+)Obsessive-
The few things that Rep truly cares about, he cares about with a blazing almost obsessive edge, they consume his life, his soul, every fibre of his being. This passion also bleeds over into physicality, a man of limited emotional scope, he falls on the side of carnality, if it brings pleasure, he literally cannot have enough of it. This covers anything from battle to his myriad on and off addictions pre-island.
(+/-)Manly - Rep's attitudes towards various subjects leave a great deal to be desired. He takes a very dim veiw of women, seeing them primarily as objects and harbouring a deep mistrust of them in positions of authority. He is equally disparaging of men who for whatever reason don't keep to his cultural standards of manly. He's not generally afraid to voice these opinions either. He values his masculinity above almost all else, and it is for this reason that he works out as much as he does, intending to keep himself fighting fit, should a fistfight ever erupt.
Weapon
Tracey
(+)Gentle
Gently spoken in life, Tracey retains this feature as a weapon, patiently speaking to Rep as if he was hard of thinking, never rising to his anger, never fuelling the flames of his obsessions.
(+)Persistant
Though he seems passive, Tracey is capable of getting through to Rep via sheer determined persistance. He keeps right on repeating advice until it eventually erodes its way into the man's thick skull. Immovably reasonable its impossible for Rep to compete in a contest of patience with the angel.
(+)Ordered
He extols the virtue of order and self control at every juncture, despising Rep's wildly chaotic whims, emotions and infatuations, attempting to be the temperance to his excesses.
Why did your human character choose to become a Hunter?
Repent's life before Deus was a fairly tough one. He had the misfortune to be born to parents unsuited to raising a child, his mother combating a heroin addiction and his father in and out of prison regularly for drug related offences. He slipped through the net of social workers and grew up without prospect of rescue from the poverty his family inhabited. Living on the estate his main source of entertainment was the local gangs or young teams, recreational drinking and a huge amount of antisocial behaviour. He learned fast that anything you wanted in life you had to take since no one would give you it and you'd never be smart enough to earn it. Learning to fight was the path of least resistance. His childhood came and went in a flurry of exclusions from school and before he knew it he was an adult, no longer able to binge drink and take drugs without consequence, no longer dealing with children with children's weapons but grown men with grown men's grievances. Somewhere along the line he took a blade to the face, left with a scar across the bridge of his nose which to even the low paying jobs he applied to left him basically unemployable. So he stuck with the friends he had, the barely a life he led, convinced all the drink and drugs were making him slowly go insane, certain he was starting to see things, shadows out of the corner of his eye, some sensation of wrongness that wouldn't ease up or go away.
And then one day he was offered a choice, a choice to leave the shitty downward slope his life was on, a chance to fight something that would make a difference, to slough off the noose that was his circle of friends and to make a difference. He felt by making that choice he wouldn't even be leaving anything of consequence behind, he had no family, he had never had true trustworthy friends. So he took the choice, and would hope to succeed in the trial thereafter with a combination of utter desperation and disregard for personal safety.
