The night was closing to an end, patrons exiting the bar in the hours following Kael and Kiwi's exit. Noctis's fingers curved on the interior of a glass cup, the napkin running nervously and haltingly amongst the smooth element. Noctis couldn't stop his eyes from the closed exit and back to his demon. His indecision was not as subtle as it should have been, drawing a few curious onlookers, wondering where the normal atmosphere between the employee and employer had transformed into.

Noctis wasn't sure he knew the answer either.

The bar dwindled down to only to the two males, soon enough, empty except for the presence of chairs tucked on the tables and glass cups rinsing in the dishwasher. Even with the usual sound of cleaning up during the after hours, faded in the tense silence between the demon and contractor. Or at least, it was tense for Noctis. Both hands shook his messy black hair, in a frenzied effort to speed up the process, trying to think of what to say to Daichi. Normally, Daichi was easy to talk to but when certain topics arose, Noctis knew that the demon could become evasive, staying faithful to his clueless appearance-- sometimes, the difference, if he was putting up a facade or not .. the line between it was far too thin to tell.

How was he going to approach the topic?

The radio started to play the song, "bruises and bitemarks" in the background.

Two single hearts on fire
currently on the wire

"So Daichi, Kael and Kiwi looked really pretty today, didn't they?" His voice shook, his glasses hung crookedly on his noise as he rounded the table to approach the nonchalant demon. His head tipped, one hand arranging his bartender bowtie, succeeding at making it just as crooked as the rest of his careless outfit. His brown eyes were wide and large as Daichi faced toward him, shoulders falling when he glimpsed the demon's casual expression.

"I suppose."

as inhibitions fade
a focused moment made
bruises and bitemarks say
takes one to bring the pain
passion lies in screams of estacitic dreams

"You suppose?! You looked at her how I look at a brand new invention-- you wanted to take her apart." The dangerous question, floating on the tip of his tongue, rolled out next with the briefest thought that he might not get away with asking it. But since it was a simple question .. the chances of not getting an answer .. Noctis calculated it as somewhere along a sixty to fifty ratio.

"....Does that mean demons can copulate like humans?" Noctis's interest in the last part was mild, the greater extents reserved exclusively for his love of taking things apart and putting it together. He was more curious than anything, his gaze fixed intensively on the water demon. Impatient fingers drummed against the buttons of the dishwasher, his gaze following Daichi as the demon moved across the room to finish the mundane closing tasks.

Daichi took a long moment to answer, one hand trailing through the line of buttons to break the vest away, revealing Noctis's borrowed white collared shirt underneath. For reasons shadowed, Noctis looked away, as if the act of a man undressing casually was a private sight .. Or was it a private sight, exclusively for a woman?

"We do."

"But it's not like humans. We go with anybody when we want, where we want and how we want."

"That's surprising. I never would have thought that about you, Daichi."

"I am a demon."

His punctuated point, his eyes half-lidded, remembering the delicious advances that Kael had initiated. The pull of the female demoness had only been simply that. A pull at first. Her looks had been above average, for any demoness but by human standards, her gradient hair and eyes must have deemed her gorgeous. Noctis and Daichi would agree on the point, she could have her pick of human men. However, with the exclusive amount of females amongst their range of demon associates, it was arguably that way with demons as well. Except, demons mingled with males and females alike. Arguably, Daichi could easily, as humans termed it, "bat for the other side."

"Do you think .. you'll meet up again?"

you're in a place for fear
lips are for biting here
lets make this moment worth the while
lets kill the night and go down in style

"Who knows?" Daichi's answer was the final note of their conversation, all implications his his past-yet-much-too-recent-desire fleeting. Much like demons and their sense of relationships~ Fleeting and simple, without the complexities of commitment amongst humans. Perhaps, this desire might disappear by tomorrow. Or in a week. Or it could flare up again on sight.

Hell, Daichi might not even work up the nerve, despite being a demon.
