Reine had mostly calmed down since then; instead of stomping down the hallway hulk-style, she was walking slowly, almost strolling towards Robert's room.

She could- and would do as Jordan suggested- talk to Robert without punching him. But that didn't mean she couldn't beat him up first. A grin on her face, she stood outside Robert's door, taking a deep breath to calm herself down. The plan of action was simple, and it began with just this:

There was a loud BANG as Reine kicked Robert's door down. Her target was right in front of her, and she strode over to him, grabbed him by the collar.

"I promised someone I wouldn't punch you," she said evenly. "So. Training field. Now."

Her intentions were clear- she hoped. Releasing Robert, Reine took a step back, then turned and walked out of the room.

"And then we'll talk."

At least Robert was clothed this time.

"WHAT THE-" He stood up from his bed, where he had, a moment ago, been posed rather erotically, and stared at the girl who'd just burst into his room. His surprise, and anger, were blown away by the absolute shock of seeing Reine, of all people, in his room.

On purpose.

"What the-" He repeated, but this time in an expelled breath. He tried to digest what she was saying, but all he could think of was she's talking to me. She's talking to me. And she's not spouting acid or fire.

Had Eva gotten to her that quickly, already?!

"Whatever you say." He sucked in a breath, grabbed his jacket, and looked fully ready to follow her to the ends of the earth.

As usual.

She refused to look at him, quickening her steps as she headed for the field. Reine had beaten him once before- this time, she wouldn't hold back either. Whether for Otto's sake or her own, she couldn't afford to lose- because if she did, she wouldn't have the courage to say what she needed to.

"You beat him up pretty good, huh?"

Her gaze was frigid as she summoned Alynthe, holding the swordbreaker out in front of her.

"After you couldn't beat me, you figured you'd attack a helpless little puppy instead?"

"Helpless.. little.. who what now?"

The only guy he'd beaten up recently was Otto, and he was no puppy.

Then again.. she wasn't much of a kitten anymore, herself.

"Wait, are you telling me Otto came sniveling back to you guys saying I helplessly beat him up? Christ, kitten, we had a spar. It was mutual. That's how it works around here."

Well, perhaps not quite as bloody in the end.. but the point stood.

He took a good look at Reine's weapon, assessing it, before taking a coin out of his pocket. "You know, for once, that had nothing to do with you, Reine." The word was said with a thick sarcasm, as he flipped the coin in the air and it elongated to form Jezebel.

"It was just two hunters honing their skills. You didn't even cross my mind."

His hand was on the hilt, and he pulled his batleth down, twirling it once before letting it rest on his shoulder.

"But I'm always up for another fight. That's what we do here, you know. We fight."

"Don't tell that to the person who beat you up, Robert Morris." She smirked, raising the weapon. Even now, he was talking down to her- but she wouldn't let that get to her. For a moment the grin on her face faded to a small smile, but then she shook herself out of it.

Not the right moment to be sappy, nonono. Now she had a person to beat up.

"He didn't say anything, don't worry- I just don't like seeing my friends hurt."

Perhaps that particular comment would sting more than the slash she just made.

"Your friends."

Yeah. It hurt.

"Right. Of course you don't, Reine. Because you're such a good friend." There was a healthy helping of inflection in his voice, if you didn't catch that already.

The slash was heavy, and made him see stars. For a brief moment, when his mind stopped thinking clearly, he was proud of her for being so strong.

The moment ended, and the blunt midsection of his batleth came down on his face.

"Are you doubting that now?"

He had every right to, she supposed- but that was why they were going to talk later; Reine was intent on getting that over and done with, at least- and in her mind, things would go easier if she'd beaten down that wall between them- that was more or less synonymous with beating Robert himself up.

His hit caught her, but she'd learned to get over the pain, and even if it hurt, she reminded herself she'd been through this before. She could do it again. As many times as it took to make him understand.

Even if he broke her nose with that attack, that bloody brute. Attacking a girl in the face? Was he one of those 'if I can't have her, no one can' psychos?

And yet she barely managed to scratch him the next time she struck out, whether because his words had gotten to her, or because of something else.

"I don't know. I guess so. Maybe. SHUT UP AND FIGHT ME ALREADY!" Robert was getting frustrated with this entire situation, and he slashed the batleth across her midsection, almost flailing the weapon more than attacking her with any precision or poise.

"What's the rush?" She teased, swinging the swordbreaker at him in retaliation.

"Not enjoying the time you're getting to spend with me?"

Robert's hand slid down against the hilt of his weapon, bringing it to his side even as Reine slashed into him again.

"Is this it, then?" He paused, to ask. Genuine hurt echoed in his eyes. "Is this all we'll ever have, Roberta? Just you and me, fighting, for the rest of our lives?"

He suddenly didn't feel like fighting, anymore.

"Is this it?" Reine smirked, feeling a surge of power, along with Alynthe's hunger; it wasn't that she particularly enjoyed hurting Robert, but she couldn't deny him the respect, at least, of being serious with him.

"That's what we do here, you know," she echoed. "We fight."

Even if he faltered, she wouldn't. This time, she was ready to see it through- leaping at him, she whispered in his ear before slashing down hard.

"Strike one, Bobby- my name's not Roberta. Strike two, I don't do spoilers."

They just kept coming. His body twitched at each strike, slapping him down, rising him up, until finally he was left a torn, bloodied mess.

And still he stood there, batleth at his side, and glared at her mournfully.

But there was just one last straw, one thing he couldn't handle hearing from her. His weapon rose and fell, trying to slash at her, and failing horribly. Still, the sentiment was in his words, at least.

"You'll always be Roberta to me, kitten. I don't care how deep you've buried her. You're my best friend. Roberta."

Stupid Robert. Stupid. She was glad for that, though.

"Why are you doing this, kitten?"

He ignored the sarcastic little insult, bringing his weapon up and swiveling it behind him, before sliding it down behind her and pulling her up to him with it. The blades bit into the flesh of her back. "Why are you so ******** bent on breaking me? If you opened your eyes for one goddamn second, you'd see that I'm not the same guy you knew when we were alive."

His batleth released her, shoving her away.

"I'm better." He narrowed his eyes, straightening up proudly.

"I know you're different," she yelled, struggling in his grip. "So why won't you get that I'm different, as well?"

It was hard to attack, with him holding her like that, but she managed to slash at him and free herself.

"Does a stupid name mean that much to you?"
